Grennan Construction

I cannot say enough good things about Grennan Construction. The owner, Fred, his project manager, James, and the entire crew were as professional and responsive as I've ever seen. We were on a fairly restrictive budget to complete a full roofing, siding and gutter replacement and thoroughly searched multiple companies before finding Grennan. Aside from the great pricing and excellent service, Grennan Construction offers a 10-Year workmanship guarantee--which is almost unheard of. Immediately, this told us that they stand behind the work that they perform. Fred met with us on several occasions to ensure the project was perfect and within budget. The roofing and gutters were completed in a single day and the siding was completed in a few weeks. The crew was great, replacing any rotted wood, taking great care of the minor details and keeping us informed of what was going on everyday. We are absolutely delighted at our new home! If you are thinking of having any work done to the exterior of your home, save yourself a lot of time and money and give Fred a call.

The job took much longer than expected due to problems cropping up along the way but Terry was there to make sure that everything was taken care of to our satisfaction. He was not satisfied until we were satisfied and made sure that everything that was supposed to be done was done properly and as outlined in the original proposal.

My crew was ver respectful and worked in some really cold weather to get this done so I could be critter free. Everything I needed done was done. I was surprised that someone would notice little issues when others quotes me the bare bones stuff, but they did and took care of it. Written estimate with photos before and after.

They were suppose to do repairs and he said that my roof was too far gone and he gave me an estimate. Here's what he did, which I thought was very very nice, he said well you know there's not a lot we can do and I'm just recommending you get a new roof, and I said yeah but I have a leak in the roof and I would really appreciate if you would go back up on the roof and caulk that area where we know water's getting in because of the flashing and he says, certainly. He went up and he caulked the area and then he also came down and he said, I also caulked an additional area that was on the window. So I would have to say he was fair because he didn't want to repair anything because he thought it was too far gone but upon request he certainly did what I asked and I would have to say good ratings. They were willing to negotiate. They said they weren't the cheapest but they said they would be willing to negotiate. He did a good job, he tried his best, he aquiest when I asked him to go back up because I'm not satisfied that you didn't do anything and he said sure and he did.

Grennan started the project within two weeks and finished in three weeks. Their work crew, headed by Matt, was fantastic. They were courteous, friendly, and hard-working. We noticed that they took great care in each step of the process and did not rush the job. They were flexible around a few changes we made in progress and were always sure to explain what they were working on. The crew went the extra mile to take care of small details as they went as well rather than leaving them to us. Once the job was done, James came out to walk the job with us and answer final questions. They made it clear that they would be happy to respond to any questions we have even though the job is technically completed. The house looks fantastic, and we have had multiple compliments from our neighbors. We were so pleased with the experience and would definitely recommend Grennan.

Sent him pictures in advance. He had shingles that should be close in color (I was not expecting a match). He thought it might be about $150. Scheduled one week out. Arrived on time (fyi, this is a rental I own), called me to tell me he was there, the color was close, said it would be about 10 min work and $75, looking for my OK. Approved to do it, this was a fair price. He called when done, re-iterated what he did, added that he used some silicone and why he did it(I know how to do the work but he didn't know that. His explanation was spot on...the tackiness of the tack strip on the loose shingles was minimal due to age and cold weather...used silicone to adhere them to the shingle above).

I guess they did the work as promised and pictures were taken of the roof to explain their position. The person called the day he was to come and changed the time by a few hours to 1 pm. At 4:30 they were still not here and I called the company to make another appt. The person I spoke to had no idea why they hadn't come. Suddenly the doorbell rings and there are 2 men there. I asked why they were late and he told me he was in court all day and just got out. I was skeptical they could do the job as there was not much daylight left. They assured me there was plenty. I don't know if they did the upper roof. We couldn't check anything because it was dark. It took them hardly any time at all. As I said, they seemed to do the job, but we didn't like at all how it was handled.

I had a service with the company for installing new roof two years ago and found a gap in transaction area last summer. I called the company last week. Assistant Manager Terry came to my house to fix the problem. The work is very professional. The response for the issue was very quick. He also walked extra miles to inspect whole roofing and gave me some good advice about my gutter issue even though this is not relative to him. I am very happy for the service from the company and will use them for other services in the future.

Very efficient and thoughtful in regard to cleaning up debris from the gutters and not damaging flower beds, etc. Very flexible and agreeable about scheduling the work. My roof is is good shape, but they suggested an improvement for the flashing around the chimney and showed me some options for gutter guards.

I would use them again in the future.

Original gutters on an approximate 25' x 10' L section in back of house were sagging. Had issue with ice dams frequently occurring in that corner. My own repair tries were not working. Had that section of gutters replaced. Kept the downspouts. Was on time for scheduled day of quote. After getting a couple other quotes, we decided to go with Grennan. Was not the lowest cost (one quote was a little lower) but was more confident with their service and he didn't try to sell me more like another quote did. Called back couple days later and they were able to come out the very next day. All work completed as expected.

This was ok. It took them several months for them to come out. They kept pushing it back and only after my husband made repeated phone calls they came. They had given us a date and didn’t show up and then we tried to contact them. What stood out bad were their communication and the amount of time they got around to us. The good part was they did ok, they weren’t great. I think I’m being generous giving them a C.

The job was done very thoroughly and the roof and gutters look great. Despite my having gutter guards, needles, leaves and debris collect on top of the gutter guards and frequently caused blockages, especially in the winter when water freezes and causes ice jams. We discussed this when I scheduled the work, and he was fine with this set up. I gave them an overall "B" because of their responsiveness and the fact that they left the roof debris on the ground of my yard where they blew or swept it off (I didn't see the gutter waste so I'm assuming they took that stuff with them in some manner - would have been nice if they would have taken the needles and roof debris that they swept off the roof, as well). As for their responsiveness, when I purchased the 'deal', the claim said I would be contacted within 48 hrs. It was between 1 and 2 weeks (I can't recall the specific time) before I was contacted, and the scheduled date was for 1 month after I purchased the deal. On the scheduled date, the man came promptly at our agreed time, and asked if he could come back that afternoon after the dew had cleared from the roof. I readily agreed (safety first) and made sure I arranged my work day to be home at our newly agreed time - he never showed. More importantly, I never received a call nor any kind of communication. I called that night and the next morning - no response, except he and a co-worker showed up the next afternoon. Although he readily apologized, I would have expected at least a call, as I had rearranged my day/work around his requests, and never received a courtesy call. Unfortunately, I was unable to be at my home when they showed up to do the work. As I said, however, the job appeared to be done very well and thoroughly and I'm happy with the quality of their work.

They were excellent! The gutters were cleaned quickly, they gave us great info from the roof inspection, and the pictures helped us clearly see how clean the gutters are and the shape of the roof. We had recently had repair work done to our roof so we knew the roof was in great shape, but wanted an inspection to make sure it stays that way! They inspected it and confirmed it is in great shape (which really affirms the integrity of this company because they could have made something up, but didn't). They suggested one repair to a gutter and suggested gutter covers that we will consider for next year. We will absolutely be hiring this company again!

Purchased the deal on Angie's List and scheduled service for a few weeks later (after leaves would have fallen and based on my availability). Crew arrived 10 minutes ahead of the appointment time (bravo!) and got right to work. Terry was professional, courteous and thorough. Overall, it was a great experience. Thanks.

After reading good reviews, I first called Grennan Construction to come look at my roof where I discovered one panel of plywood sheathing had popped up above the nail. I also asked for an estimate for replacing my gutters and downspouts and installing gutter guards. Grennan sent Terry, an assistant project manager, to inspect my roof. He inspected my attic, took photos and nailed down the sheathing, all for no charge. He followed up with an email containing the estimate, photos of my attic and recommendations of additional work, which I chose not to pursue. After a few months of completing other projects, I called Terry to schedule the gutter work. The gutter guards they normally install would not be practical for the types of trees we have, and Terry agreed to install my choice of guards as long as I purchased them. This brought the price of the gutter work down due to less materials. The gutter work was scheduled within days of our call. Here are a few items to note about this project and working with Grennan Construction. Grennan was the lowest bidder on my project. There was no contract or paper work signed. Terry said that payment was not necessary on the day of completion of service and that I could just mail a check to the office. Grennan subcontracts out the actual gutter and downspout installation to another company. As my old gutters were installed with the big spikes nailed into the fascia boards, I asked for the holes to be filled with sealant to prevent potential rotting. Terry showed up before the gutter installers and removed my old gutters and sealed the holes because the gutter installers don?t do that. My downspouts go underground and discharge into a French drain system and I wanted the new downspouts to do the same. Terry informed me that the gutter installer will not connect the downspouts to the underground system. Instead, they will install elbows at the bottom of the system so the downspouts spill to grade. Terry said he personally would follow up after the installation and connect the downspouts to the underground system and also install the gutter guards. After the gutters were installed, I called Terry to schedule the gutter guards and downspout connections. Terry was booked that week and had a vacation scheduled the following week. Terry offered to have someone else show up and finish the work or we could wait until he got back. I chose the latter because he was familiar with the work that needed to be completed. Two weeks after the gutters were installed, Terry and another worker came back and installed the gutter guards and did a good job on them. However, the final downspout connections were left for me to complete. They dug the holes to expose the french drain system connections, removed the elbows at the bottom of the new downspouts and cut pieces of downspout material to extend to the down to the french drains. The connections were not sealed or buried. In my last call with Terry, he instructed me on how to complete the work using parts from Home Depot. Needless to say, I was left to finish the project they started. There was no paper work such as an invoice or a bill, left by Grennan when they were done, describing the work performed and the final bill total. Final cleanup left a lot to be desired. I found rusty nails, gutter spikes, pieces of gutter and gutter guard trimmings and a tool. To settle the bill, I decided to go to their office to pay the bill, get paper work for the project, get a receipt for the payment, return their lawn sign and return the tool I found. I stopped by their office two time in one week during their posted business hours and found the ?Open? sign turned on, all the office lights off and nobody home. Because I wanted a paper trial of the work performed and my payment in full, I called the general office number to speak to someone. The person I spoke with, answered the phone as ?Grennan Construction?. When I explained the nature of my call, the person on the other end stated that she was at a call center and could not answer my questions. It turns out that the call center is located in Illinois. She took my contact information and said she would pass it on to the Company. A few days later, I received a call from Grennan Construction. The person said I could just mail a check to the office. I had to request an invoice to be sent in the mail so I had proof that they performed the work. My initial dealings with Grennan were impressive and positive. The gutters, gutter guards and top portions of the downspouts look good. However, my opinion of this company diminished over the span of the project, as it seems unprofessional to commence a project without a written and signed agreement of the work to be performed and no final paper work at the end of the project. Furthermore, the entire project was not completed in a timely manner and was not completed by the contractor. The final completion was left to me.

Arrived exactly at the stated time. He performed the gutter cleaning in a time manner. Also took picture of my roof and explained to me the condition of my roof. Before he left he cleaned up my walkways. He was very well mannered and professional. I was very pleased.

did all the cleaning, took pictures of roof and found it needed help. We have hired the company to come back and replace the bad roof.
