Horton is available when you need them and very responsive. We have an old house with only one bathroom and have had 3 plumbing emergencies since we have been in isolation due to COVID 19 and household members with pre-existing health conditions, as well as one who works at the hospital. We cannot be without functional plumbing. They are respectful, professional, knowledgeable and do an excellent job! We are looking forward to a time when we can do some remodeling of the bathroom/kitchen with their help.

I had a drain that kept backing up and several companies agree that I needed the sewer drain replaced. I went with Horton's because they were quick to respond and, although they never actually scheduled a time which caused issues, they completed the work quickly. The work itself was done well and I have no complaints, but I do take issue with their excavation company they use as well as how they tried to resolve (or lack there of) a problem that arose. My sewer line is directly next to my gas line, something I made a point of bringing up to them, which I was assured they'd take every precaution to avoid it including calling miss dig. The day after the work was completed, my girlfriend and I smelled gas in the front yard and had Consumer's Energy come out. They found a leak (luckily only on the outside of the house) and took care of it immediately. The head of the crew said, "it was an obvious nick in the line; something that they should have spotted and called us about." I called and spoke with Jeff at Horton's, he apologized, said he would get to the bottom of it and get back to me. What I got was a phone call from the excavation company already on the defensive claiming it was the settling dirt. When I said that settling dirt doesn't lead to the phrase "obvious nick," he then switched gears and passed blame onto Consumer's for not flagging it properly. For anyone that hasn't worked with miss dig, they flag all of the lines and if they miss something, you can call and they address it right away. He said he was going to send a crew out to talk to Consumer's and get back to me. Bottom line, I have gotten no resolution or response from either company except for a yard that is far more torn up than it should have been, a company that still dug without the gas line actually being marked, and the bill that arrived the day before it was due. While Horton's may do good work, their customer service is subpar and if you need excavation done, go with a different business.

It went great! Our 40 year old 75 gallon hat water tank needed replacement. I had trouble finding someone who could come out within 24 hours. These folks were available the next morning. They called ahead in AM to let us know they were loading up and again when they were on the way. Two workers got the job done before noon. Took out old tank for discard and installed new tank. After they finished we showed them a couple other plumbing issues. In the house. They diagnosed the problems and will be back when they get the parts. They were friendly and efficient. We are very happy.

They’re very professional. They’re very good. I trust them. Use them. They came on a holiday. It was a mess. They came very promptly. Communication was great. I was confident in their work and quality of work and their product. His explanation of what happened and the difference in new type of garbage disposals. And it was just an overall good experience. For $20 more, I got a high grade one and I can put anything down it. I really appreciate it! It’s just so much more efficient.

We have had Horton out three times since we moved into our new house in 2014. First, they fixed the drain pipes in our Master bath. Next, they discovered the source of a water leak in our kitchen - a leaking fiberglass shower and tub directly above. The Horton crew mediated the situation until we could replace the tub. Finally, and probably most impressively, they fixed a leaky valve on our back up sump that runs off the city water pressure. The leak had caused us to incur a major water bill $1K+. The sump pump and back up sump pump will probably need to be replaced soon, but Horton got us back up and running. One tip for my fellow Angie's List members, get a battery powered back up sump pump. They do not leak like water powered back ups. The battery sump pump in our old house saved us from getting a flooded basement during the 2003 blackout.

They were very prompt and got out quickly. They just were a little expensive for a few minutes' work. My interaction with them was fine, everything was great. I would rate them highly except I just did not expect it to be as much as it was for just a few minutes' work. The work they did turned out fine. I thought it could have been a little cheaper.

Two plumbers showed up on time and attempted to locate the leak from the bathtub. The leak was coming through the ceiling of my garage, which was the bottom of the tub. After two hours of going back and forth, they were not successful in locating the leak. It appeared neither plumber was confident in their work and abilities, so they would switch spots and check each other's work. One of the plumbers thought it was the overflow, however the other plumber did not agree. This conclusion didn't make since because it didn't leak when we took a bath, just when we took a shower. The older gentleman could not communicate well, which made it difficult for me to have a conversation with them about what they thought was wrong. The gentleman who didn't think it was the overflow wanted to cut a hole in my cabinet to look at the back of pipes. I refused because at this point they hand cut a larger than necessary hole in the ceiling to look at the bottom of the tub. I told them they were cutting in the wrong area, but they didn't follow my advice and then had to make the hole even bigger. The younger gentlemen suggested I replace one of the pipes and gave me an estimate of almost $300.00. It should be noted my home was built in 2009, therefore is not that old. Needless to say, they left my house with it still leaking and stated that it was dripping still because it was left over. However they wrote on the invoice "no warranty", this was an obvious indication that they didn't fix the leak. After they left, I had my uncle look at the tub and he stated that it might be the tile. I fixed the grout myself and now I have no leak. It's very frustrating that I had two trained plumbers inspecting the tub and neither one of them mentioned it could be from the tile. I called and spoke to the manager and they listened to my concerns and the issues I had, however they offered no relief from the $180 I paid for nothing. They even mentioned I should still have the pipe fixed and didn't believe me that the leak was fixed. They suggested I should have called back when it wasn't fixed, but why would I have called them back to pay more money from them to do nothing! I do not recommend this company for your plumbing needs!

The other plumber was shady-looking guy (unshaven, not clean, ) - HE WAS working alone in the distant bathroom. HE destroyed every SEAL on the toilet. Where there were NO leaks - toilet was leaking ...AT TANK BASE where it fits into toilet, it was leaking from new flapper in tank, and it was leaking (big time) from the original problem. the wall shut-off. He comes into kitchen -- hands me a bill... the faucet install was $209.75 (approx. - this was the standard faucet instal price $185 plus ?tax-- they only quoted $185). Bad plumber wanted several hundred dollars for "fixing toilet" -- which was NOW needing seals which they did not have on truck, nor did they have in shop, which would have to be ordered. He had done NO FIX of toilet-- and this was not a bill for the NEXT visit -- (he said)--"IF he is able to EVEN GET a seal for the tank." He wanted to SELL ME NEW toilet, which would then not match blue shower. This is a wall hung-toilet, it would necessitate cutting hole in new tile floor, and having major repair to nicely tiled wall behind toilet. I asked him to see if he could just order the seals. I paid for the faucet install (IN FULL). Bad plumber said he'd call when the seal came in... he never called. Horton is billing me... for their "plumber" wrecking a working toilet. They sent NEW bill which said I had only paid a deposit of $209.75...who charges exact price of faucet, and calls it a deposit? Why would I add 75 cents to a DEPOSIT? They are LYING. My daughter's BF is fixing the toilet. Hortons are still billing for breaking the seals on the toilet, and are adding interest, and want $101.50 for the destruction of toilet seals which were not leaking. I paid for the real work (install of faucet--not the malevolent mischief), the day of service. I haven't paid them for "fixing" toilet...I hate having to fight w/ office staff ... this is not the first plumber to BREAK stuff, on purpose, to make a more lucrative job. I am a senior, disabled person living on budget...crooks don't care, they will steal from anyone. Horton should not hire guys like this one. I suggest- clients WATCH PLUMBER, SO YOU CAN SEE what he is doing... I had 2 plumbers, and the guy in the bath looked so unsavory, I stayed in the kitchen. I am done with Horton." Delete review
Description of Work: "I had Horton do a number of jobs over the last couple years --with no problem...then came the leaky faucet valve on the blue toilet. Yeah, it is vintage, 1970s , but it has always worked, and only needed new parts inside tank. I hired a crew to do cleaning-- they tightened the valve so they could shut off water to toilet-- to clean tank (over-zealous). They over-tightened handle on the shut-off valve (stripped) --so when on, it dripped. It did shut off tight, no drip, and toilet was working ok. Called Horton, to have a sink faucet installed in kitchen, and to fix the now decommissioned toilet... the clean-cut ,young guy who replaced kitchen faucet- excellent. no mess, no problem. They billed same price for faucet, at end of job, which was quoted on 'phone when I made appt. I paid total for faucet install. Delete review

This is our new home - we had been in the house for less than two months when I discovered a leak in our basement. Called Hortons and they came out. After an exhaustive search, the plumber, Luke, determined the leak was coming from the upstairs guest bath. Upon review, he determined the leak was due to the toilet being installed incorrectly when the bathroom was remodled prior to our purchasing the house. Luke returned the next day - sadly he had to cut multiple holes in my kitchen to access the bath, but was able to reach the pipes and fix the leak. He also was able to recommend a drywaller who fixed the holes - you can't tell there was any work done. We have used Horton for numerous projects prior to our move to our new home. I find them to be prompt, professional and very reasonable.

I called and the representative at Horton's Plumbing he said they could come that afternoon and they would call me before they came. He did and I met him at the house. That all went fine. When the plumber came to the home he looked under the sink said the faucet needs to be replaced. The compression fittings are fine. I have a Lady Lux 3 Grohe faucet stainless steel....brushed finish. Horton's Plumber said I don't have any faucets like that one. So you will have to buy a new one and we will come back and put the new one in for $185. I questioned what exactly was wrong with the faucet. Horton's plumber said the cartridge and you can't replace it....you need new faucet. The plumber didn't take the facet apart or inspect the hoses ....just made statement needs to be replaced. The more I questioned him the more nervous he became. He said that will be $85.00. He took 5 minutes to diagnose the problem; and twice as long to write up the receipt. So 15 minutes is $85.00 and when I called the representative to schedule the appointment he said there was no trip charge just $85 per hour. Here's the problem...went to buy the new Lady Lux Grohe faucet and I was told by the Home Depo special orders representative the cartridge can be replaced and any reputable plumber will know that...really? And that is exactly true. I went to a plumbing store and yes....that is most definitely true. The plumbing store asked did the pumber take the faucet apart to diagnose the problem. Are the hoses ok? Is the connection at the top of the stem with a quick connect leaking? The faucet needs to be taken apart and all those parts checked so it can be repaired or replaced properly. The plumbing store also said contact Grohe and they will send you the replacement parts or you can buy them here from us. The cost of the parts is significantly less than the $600 to replace the faucet. Here is my problems with Horton's Plumbing. 1). I didn't expect to pay a trip charge just the $85 for one hour of service; not $85 for 5 minute diagnose. 2). If you are going to charge professional level fees of $85 for 15 minutes I expected professional level diagnose with an exact indication of what was wrong and correct information on how to repair the problem. Don't tell me you can't replace the malfunctioning parts when in fact you can. I'm not sure now if the other parts may not be functioning properly in addition to the cartridge because the plumber didn't take the facet apart....just took the easy way out saying replace the faucet.
Description of Work: Water was leaking under my sink. I thought it was 3 compression fittings. The provider did not inspect the facet by taking it apart to diagnose all the necessary parts that might need to be replaced to fix the leak....just said facet needs to be replaced. This is a $600 Stainless Steel facet....why would I replace it if I can replace the malfunctioning parts for a much cheaper alternative than replacing the entire facet.
