From design to installation, Closets By Design did a first class job.  We first had the company complete our closets on the first floor....loved them so much....we hired them again to complete the second floor.

There were a couple of hiccups as the shelving is designed and measured in our home and then made and cut at their shop. We had ordered backing for the entire unit but when Mark (our installer) put the unit together several sections lacked the backing. He looked at our paperwork, totally agreed there was a mix up and called the shop to get the order corrected. In order to fix install the backing, the entire unit had to be disassembled, several units recut, the backing placed and then everything reassembled. There was no arguing and Mark was at our home the next morning to fix everything. Although the unit isn't inexpensive, the unit looks beautiful and has totally transformed our pantry. What most impressed us was how Mark our installer, Sharon our designer, and Bob and Matt the managers, handled the mix up with our order. They apologized profusely and even though it was a big hassle for them to correct, they did it quickly and professionally. I would definitely recommend and use them in the future.

The time spent with us by Design Consultant Tina was invaluable, to the extent that we eliminated all other prospective providers. She was thorough and created designs appropriate to our needs. No pressure and a good listener. The components arrived and we found the quality every bit as good as we had anticipated, right down to the crown and base moldings, drawer guides and hardware. The installers were polite, prompt and went out of their way to assure our satisfaction. The follow up call by Tina, to assure our satisfaction post installation, was not surprising.

Suffice to say we are completely satisfied with our purchase and would recommend Tina and Closets by Design to anyone in need of making better use of their closet space without hesitation.

After realizing that our new house didn't have the kitchen storage space that we wanted (specifically, no pantry or dry goods storage), we decided to get a pantry installed inside of an existing mud room closet that we didn't need. A designer from Closets by Design (CbD) visited our house and performed the following services:
1. measured our existing closet space
2. discussed closet options and CbD materials with us; took notes on our ideas for a pantry
3. drafted and ordered parts for our custom closet
The CbD designer informed us that we would probably need to wait several months for an appointment, and she seemed to indicate that this was normal for CbD. However, the scheduler called us the following week and asked if we fill a suddenly available spot for a week out. We agreed and our closet installers came out significantly earlier than expected (which was good). The closet installers arrived and were started working in the mud room.
It should be noted that CbD asks you to prep the space, so I had ripped out the old closet, including braces, shelves, sliding door, track, etc... The installers set up shop in the garage and started working, I estimate the complete job took about 3-4 hours. There are two main complaints based on my experience:
1. The CbD team was not very professional - specifically with speaking volume inside my house and swearing. As we were approximately the same age, I think they formed the opinion that I would be more tolerant with their language, but it was noticeable, even from the other room.
2. The closet was installed two inches too deep inside the cavity. It's unclear to me if this is due to a design error or an installation error, but it would have made the trimming (which CbD also does not do, with the exception of the floor trim) impossible.
I called my CbD designer the day after installation, after I had gotten a good look at it, and informed her about the depth issue. She visited to re-measure and indicated that it was probably her fault. She scheduled a second visit from the installers, who basically uninstalled and reinstalled the cabinet to be flush with the cavity. At the end of it all, the pantry looks great and is very functional. I would recommend closets by design, but there are a few caveats:
1. you have to do the demo.
2. they only trim the bottom, but custom cavity fit closets never fit precisely, so you will have to trim top and sides
3.

Kate, our designer, was wonderful and amazing to work with.  All the drawings were done on the day of the consultation and priced out with all color options and extras.  She was very educated on the processes and made helpful suggestions to my original ideas.  We couldn't be more pleased.  Bob, the installer, was quick, efficient and completed the job flawlessly.
