"My husband and his father spent nearly a month cutting down almost all the trees on our 3-acre property, leaving just a few behind. I recorded the entire process on video. Afterward, we contacted a company to help remove the remaining trees, grind the stumps, cut branches that are hanging around the house and clean up some residential trash including hiring their own dumpster. Their initial quote was $14,500, but my husband thought that was too high, so I negotiated it down to $12,500—and they agreed. They estimated the job would take between two weeks to a month, which seemed reasonable. They also asked if it would be okay to leave the wood on the side after cutting it, and I agreed. They used a machine to mulch the branches and left the smaller debris—like leaves—spread across the property, which we were fine with. The agreement was that they would handle the stump removal, provide a dumpster, cut the branches hanging around the house, cut the remaining trees, and take care of the trash. To help them out, I even paid $1,200 out of pocket for the dumpster so they could make some extra money on the job. Surprisingly, they finished the work in just four days. When I asked about the stumps, they said they planned to use a chemical from Amazon to break them down. That never happened. I followed up several times to express my frustration that this part of the agreement wasn’t completed. Eventually, they admitted the oversight and promised to at least remove the large stumps. I agreed, just to avoid any further conflict. ( they never cut any branches that were hanging around the house and they never removed stump). They keep saying they will come to remove the stump but they never come. Since then, they’ve stopped responding to my calls and texts altogether. I used to recommend this company, but after this experience, I no longer can. We feel taken advantage of. We paid a fair price, were flexible and accommodating, and even went out of our way to support them. Unfortunately, they didn’t hold up their end of the deal—and now they’ve ghosted us"

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.

On average, removing a tree costs around $750, but you can expect to pay between $200 to $2,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.

The cost varies depending on a number of factors, including the size of the tree, location, accessibility, whether or not the stump is also being removed, and other environmental factors.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
Each tree is different, and costs can vary widely based on factors including tree size, hardness of wood, difficulties caused by location of the tree and proximity to nearby structures and objects, inherent risk involved in specific removals (e.g. rotten sections of trunk), requirements of dealing with municipalities and local governments for tree removal permits, and the methods employed by the tree worker to remove your tree.
A single tree could cost as low as $100 to remove or $10,000 dollars or more depending on these factors. It is also important to keep in mind that many companies have a minimum price to come out and do work or even give quotes.

If there are no online reviews, ask them for referrals. If a tree removal company is reputable, you won't be their first client. It's perfectly acceptable to ask for references on your initial call, and if a removal company won't provide referrals, it's time to move on.
Find out what equipment they use. Some types of tree removal equipment are better than others, and a removal company might need special tools to get your particular job done. On your first conversation with a prospective removal company, make sure that you clearly express the nature of the job you want accomplished and receive assurances that the company has the proper equipment.
Consider all of the costs. Always ask for an estimate up-front. Inquire about the job itself and any potential hidden fees that you might not be aware of.

To have a fallen tree removed near your home, you can expect to pay between $100 to $500. Your local tree removal professional will most likely just need to cut and remove the tree from your property, but factors like the size of the tree and its trunk diameter impact this cost. In addition, there will be an extra cost to fill in the hole left by the tree, and while you have your tree removal specialist on-site, it might be worth it to have them inspect the other trees in your yard for potential damage. Trees that have fallen onto your home or another structure, will likely be more costly to remove.

The minimum cost is $500 to $1,000, as disposal of tree debris is between $200 and $300 per load.
Answered by Jeff Searles at Lakeshore Tree Care in Chanhassen, MN on 01/08/25
Costs can range from $500 up to $2,000, on average. It depends on the size of the tree, the location, accessibility, if there are hazardous conditions surrounding the tree and the environment, and if other work is being done on the property along with fallen tree removal.
Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25
It really depends on if it's just lying on the ground or if it fell on a structure. The cost could be anywhere from $500 to $10,000. There's a wide price range because some fallen trees are really easy to remove, while others are very difficult and require a crane.
Answered by Kenneth Kirlin at Carolina Tree Trimmers LLC in Summerville, SC on 01/06/25
You can expect to pay about $1,000 to $4,000 to have a fallen tree removed. Trees that have fallen require more labor to remove than one that's standing.
Answered by Jeremiah Erickson at Chameleon Property Services LLC in Albany, NY on 01/13/25
Budget over $1,500 if you need a tree removed from your yard that’s larger than 80 feet. Large tree removal is a significant project that requires a crane, and the overall price will increase if the tree is close to your house. Typically, smaller trees can cost as low as $8 per foot to remove, while larger trees (over 80 feet) can cost at least $15 per foot.
