Originally thought everything went very well. His wife assisted. She guided him throughout. It was obvious she was a hands-on partner. She even managed the phone calls before/after job and drove the truck for stone/sand as needed. Upon completion of project, he left with his equipment in a timely manner. In his signed contract he made mention "Not responsible for wash ins or settling of dirt at anytime." This last statement covered his negligence in shaping the walls of the pond tightly (meaning rolling over them enough times to set the newly dug pond). Afterwards, because of this negligence, we experienced huge holes caving-in the walls during filling time immediately. I called them expressing the cave-ins happening which was not normal. Unbeknownst to him, I saw our pond dug originally with our contractor, Nagel, and these "wash ins" DID NOT occur at that time. When closing the deal, giving him the second half of the proposed contract, Mr. Meinert stated "and this pond should be re-dug every ten(10) years". Upon seeing the entire picture feel Mr. Meinert was setting the stage for re-ocurring business. Ponds are nice, but do not require this type regular maintenance. My husband and I spared no wasted time in re-filling the pond. We set up pool hoses and drew water from the ravine nearby, also utilized the water from house gutters and then of course the natural rains we experienced and our pond is filled. Nonetheless, we will NOT CONTACT THIS CONTRACTOR for any serv ices again.
