We used 1st Choice Inspection Services twice this May to inspect two different properties that my daughter had made offers on. Paul Gagneur did a great job. He is extremely thorough and checks many things a prospective buyer might not consider. Paul saved us from making an expensive mistake on two properties. He found major deficiencies on both properties. The first with foundation and roofing issues, and then on the second property major problems with asbestos and a severely corroded water line coming into the home. We will definitely use 1st Choice Inspection Service again before making any home purchases. The money spent for the inspection is well worth every penny considering the cost of buying a home with issues. Paul sends a very detailed report with all his findings as well. He was there before he actually was scheduled and had already done some of the inspection by the time I arrived 5 minutes past the scheduled time. He was extremely through and pointed out things that I would never have seen. His report was very detailed and included pictures of each item that he inspected which had any need for maintenance or repair. His price was fair and included a pest control inspection.

We called First Choice Home inspection to give us an idea of the overall condition of the home we were looking at and weather or not it would be a good choice for us. Paul was able to give us a very good idea of what needed to be done and what the hud inspection might look for. In the end we opted not to buy the home based on the information that we were able to get from the inspection report and potentially saving us many thousands of dollars. I would recommend Paul and use his services again!

Paul was great to work with. Upon contact Paul indicated he was booked solid for the following week but offered to come out on Saturday. Paul showed up early but still spent over 3 hours going through the house in meticulous detail. He climbed on the roof, got in the attic, crawled under the cantilevered windows, etc. If it was safe to access he was there with his flashlight. I have had home inspectors that were knit-picky about silly little things and other inspectors that missed major issues. Paul had the right amount of detail without freaking out my wife that we were about to buy a lemon. He also helped with suggested fixes for all the items he found. By far this has been my best experience with a home inspector. I highly recommend.

I hired Paul for a home inspection and could not have been any more pleased with the service that he provided. He was prompt in returning my phone calls/emails and showed up to perform the inspection right on time. He was extremely thorough in his review of the home and took the time to go over every aspect of the house that I wanted. Some inspectors don't walk the roofs and crawl in the foundation spaces, but Paul left no stone (or shingle) unturned or uninspected. He explained things to me in detail as he went along and documented everything that he did. He emailed me the report with photos of every item quickly the next day and was ahead of schedule the entire time. I'm a very detail-oriented person and appreciated that Paul was as well. I would hire Paul again without hesitation to perform any inspection services that I needed.

Paul's professional opinion helped ensure I made the right decision for my family. He saved me money down the road with home repair and hospital bills. My wife is allergic to mold and mildew. Paul identified moisture content in home with instrumentation and located mildew. He offered solution to rid the mildew. Which started with diverting water away from house and ventilation. Then advised how to treat existing mildew. I opted out of the home contract. The second home Paul identified a cover up of water damage and structural areas that needed addressed if I was going to purchase the home. It also contained mildew and mold. I acquired his service 2 times and wanted a third inspection with Paul. But I needed it with a 2 day notice and like any great professional that's not possible for them, due to their schedule. However, Paul went above and beyond by advising me with another home inspector to contact. Paul is a professional in every aspect and charged me with a very fair price. He is a very trusted home inspector in my book and that doesn't happen often. THANK YOU Paul!!!!

The report was incredibly detailed with pictures, remarks and highlighted trouble areas. He provided a list of things that needed attention right now (along with a rough estimate of cost) and some things that just needed maintenance. I now have a list of things I need to have taken care of and other things I can do as time permits. Paul had the report to us by the evening of the day he made the inspection. The report was well worth the money and will be handy to have as we move into our new home. A very good information investment to have from a well rounded and highly qualified professional.

Paul was very good with communicating prior to the inspection and setting up a time that worked for us, even moving around some other obligations to accommodate us. During the inspection, he took a ton of pictures and walked us through what he was seeing, and what were serious concerns. We have had other inspections done in the past and Paul was by far the most thorough and knowledgable. The report was in my inbox the next morning. He claims he charged a slight travel fee since this was over an hour drive for him, but he was still as cheap and any other inspector in that area. I would have no issues recommending him to anyone buying or selling a house!

Paul was excellent, he thoroughly inspected the house, explained any concerns he found and was very quick in providing the completed report. I would recommend using him.

Very professional and straight forward. Had trouble getting electrical on at the home, and due to miscommunication by our realtor, and no fault of Paul's, he came before the house was ready for a full inspection. It was a huge mixup at the hand of our realtor, but Paul was great about it, even willing to come back out another day to finish what he was unable to fully look over with no electricity-at no extra charge. Based on what he was able to inspect, that won't be necessary. 10 hours after he started the inspection, I had a 45 page report full of pictures, and information. He found major issues with the roof, foundation, furnace, and sewage system... Among other things. Many lesser (but still pretty awful) troubles too. We almost bought a money pit! Now unfortunately, we start our house hunting over from square one. The only good thing about this mess is now I know exactly who to call when we find the next house we have interest in. I'd recommend Paul to ANYONE, ANYTIME.

Very thorough job. Paul is very friendly and knowledgeable. Will use him in the future. However, did not buy house due to conflict of interest with my realtor.

I got Paul's contact information from Angie's list with very high recommendations and gave him a call to see if he could fit us in. Unfortunately Paul was extremely booked up and planning to go on a short vacation at the end of the following week, so it didn't look like it was going to happen. He asked if we would be available for the next day if he was able to rearrange some other houses he had scheduled. He called me back within ten minutes and had cleared the next afternoon (a Saturday) so that he could do our inspection. Paul pulled into the driveway at the exact same time as we did, was courteous and professional. He did not seem bothered by the many questions I asked him as we walked through the property; in fact, he explained things I didn't even think to ask. Paul opened cabinets and drawers, climbed up to access the attic, walked on the roof, tested the water and air temperatures, checked for water pressure, looked for signs of termites...the list goes on. The report was sent to me the following day. It was 42 pages in length, was of professional quality, and was broken down by category of how serious deficiencies were. This helped us in determining what to ask the sellers to fix and what we would handle ourselves after closing. I highly recommend Paul to anyone needing a thorough and professional home inspection.

It was the most detailed report I have ever seen. Paul is courteous and will explain everything in detail without hesitation. He is excellent at what he does and a real pleasure to work with...I highly recommend him.

When I first contacted Paul he was on a roof working with another client. Paul understands that when the phone rings, you have to answer it- that is how focused on customer/client service he is. We set a date for the inspection, Paul checked in the day before to confirm the time. He showed up on time and got right to work. He climbed on and over and under everything to give me the best picture of the condition of the house. He pointed out things, and explained why it was important to have them fixed. I received his formal report the following day. The report was very thorough including many pictures of the home and points of concern. Besides being very professional, he is an over all super nice guy- I recommend him to anyone needing a home inspection.

Paul was very punctual and professional. Went through the entire house from roof to basement and broke down all his findings into Major deficiency, Minor concern, and Maintenance items. He emailed the detailed report to us (and our broker) by the next morning. He had no problem with my husband accompanying him through the whole inspection and he explained everything he was finding to him. It gave us the information of major issues to present to the seller of items we would like to be corrected before completing the purchase. We would definitely recommend Paul to anyone looking for a home inspection.

I called Paul with 1st Choice as it was recommended from Angie's List, and also through Mite-E Exterminating's Josh, who works closely with Paul when doing home inspections. Paul was very knowledgeable and honest throughout the whole inspection; letting me follow along with him to see exactly what was being looked into. I was also able to ask questions regarding what was a necessity to have fixed, and what we could do on our own. Our inspection report was emailed 24 hours after the inspection, containing information regarding our home and pest inspection as Josh and Paul work together. (I could also pay Paul for both, and he'd pay Josh later. Love that.) Overall, everything was done quickly, efficiently, and with a person who not only seems to know the field, but was pleasant to work with, and spoke a language I understood. I would most certainly call Paul with 1st Choice, or refer him the next time home inspection services are needed.

paul arrived early. He was very professional and very thorough. Inspected everything from roof to foundation. Even got up on the roof in the rain. Very fair price. Very honest person, answered every question I had. I keep his number in my phone and give it to anyone I know that is thinking of buying a house. Wouldn't use anyone else.

Paul arrived early in the morning, and spent several hours going over the house. He started at the roof, and worked his way down, and then finally inside. He crawled around in spaces I didn't even know the house had, and answered any questions we had as he went through the house knowledgeably and promptly. He gave an extremely detailed report, with lots of pictures, and blow ups of the problem areas, as well as pointing them out to us in detail during the inspection.

It was very thorough. Paul caught a couple things that I think would get by most people. The 45-page inspection report that he faxed to me was incredible. He was able to show potential problems in pictures in the report, using arrows to point them out. He was very prompt and was able to get the report to my Realtor and me within one day of the inspection.
