They quoted the entire job. Completed the rough plumbing in my home and were paid and backed out when it was time to do the finish the job. So in the last hour I was left to scramble for a new plumber and re-quote the finishing of the job. Very unprofessional.

Response from Plumbing Techs
We are very disappointed in this misleading review. Plumbing Techs strives for happy customers and knows fully how stressful and disruptive construction and re-modeling can be. 1) We were hired and paid for our ROUGH work by the homeowner's builder in 2016. The ROUGH work we completed was done according to plan, on time, and was approved by the city permit office. The homeowner's working relationship with the builder (our customer) was terminated unrelated to us or our work. 2) We were contacted by the homeowner in August of 2018 when she asked us to return to finish the job. A new builder was hired that we do not know and with whom we have no working relationship. The specs of the job have changed and plumbing needs have changed since we completed our ROUGH work. 3) We offered to release the plumbing permit and have the homeowner's new builder assign the remaining work to a plumber with whom they have a relationship. We also offered to review the changed blueprints, fixture specs, re-quote the job accordingly, and possibly return to finish the job in about 3 weeks. We generally schedule larger jobs such as this weeks in advance, giving us time to meet with the builder, review changes, obtain necessary materials, and assemble our work team. The homeowner told us in advance that she would place a negative review. We are disappointed that while we felt we were engaged in constructive conversations with the homeowner, she decided to post a negative review that we find to be misleading, inaccurate, and grossly unfair.

I was impressed by the response of the provider (this was leaking through my ceiling, so it was urgent). George arrived and promptly went to work, he found the issue a broken/cracked drain. He told me the cost to fix and it was done. He also indicated the work would not be guaranteed as the tub itself -had rust related cracks. I asked him if he could install a new tub. His answer was yes and we discussed a potential cost. He indicated that he or Scott would be in touch with me within a week or so. A week went by and no call, so I called and left a message on 8/18. I also called on 8/24 -also left a message. Later on 8/24 the leak became worse than before and I had water cracking my ceiling, at least a 5 foot stain and couldn't use the tub/shower. Nobody from this company ever returned my call. I am very disappointed in the service - and the $225 I spent for essentially a week and a half or so of being able to use the tub/shower.

See above section. PT installed 100% new drain pipes and fittings. He did not smoke in my house or outside. He did not leave any trash for me to clean up. He aligned the garbage disposal sink flange so you can read the "In Sink Erator" words, a small detail for function, but it makes the job look nicer.
Description of Work: Plumbing Techs (PT) was subcontracted by Granite Transformations (GT) to install plumbing in conjunction with new kitchen cabinet counters. I don't know what GT paid PT for their service. GT handled the schedule and GT supplied the sink and new disposal; PT supplied the new drain pipes to complete the job. PT's office phoned a week in advance and the day of the work to confirm their schedule. The PT man was on time, neat, polite, did his work without any folderal. I have absolutely nothing to be unhappy about.

When we signed a contract with a kitchen renovation company (Granite Transformations) to re-do our counter tops and cabinets, they told us that they would install the new sink we had purchased through them but that to hook up the plumbing, we needed a professional plumber. The salesperson told me that I could bring my own or that they had a plumber they used. I did not know any plumber at the time so I thought that it was great that they had someone trustworthy and a $300 plumber's fee was added to the contract. I was told that I could choose to use the 2 old flanges I had (double sink) or buy new ones. The old ones were fine but one was a bit more battered than the other so I bought one to substitute. I also bought a new faucet. The counter tops and sink were placed on January 9, 2013 without any problems. The plumber was scheduled to come on January 10, the following day. Because the sink was not hooked to the pipes, I could not use it, of course, so it was a relief when early in the morning of the 10th the plumber called to say he was on his way. My husband received him while I was getting ready for the day. The plumber (David) told him that the he could not use the new flange I had and also, that he recommended we changed our garbage disposal. He conveniently had one in his truck and would install it and hook up the sink for $275, the price included the garbage disposal unit, a flange (he had one too) and his labor. He was very pushy. My husband was unaware that the contract with the kitchen renovation company already included the $300 fee to hook up the sink to the garbage disposal, etc. so although David seemed shifty and pushy, he was already there and we needed the sink working, so he accepted. By the time I got there, David was already installing the new garbage disposal, my husband then told me about the extra $275. I told my husband how we had already paid $300 for what the plumber was doing. The box for the new garbage disposal unit together with the manual, etc. was there on the floor so my husband did a Google search and found the exact same model at about $75 at the Home Depot website. The guy was charging about $200 on top!!! Because the labor was already paid for ($300) it was a HUGE mark-up. My husband then confronted David, who became very defensive but reduced the fee by $50 to $225. It was still a rip-off but he was mid-job and we just wanted to avoid a bad situation in our home, we also did not want him to do something badly that would cause problems later (like leaving something to leak or break later) so we felt forced to accept. We felt that he took advantage of the situation and that he was dishonest. While the plumber is still working, I am trying to call Granite Transformations to complain, nobody is at the office, is too early and they are still closed. When I was finally able to talk to somebody , the plumber had left. I complained and the manager at the Granite Transformations told me that she would investigate and call me later. Several days after, she called me to tell me that basically her hands were tied because they had to go by the plumbing company recommendations, and that if they made "a couple of dollars on top" that it was something she had to accept. She said she spoke to the owner of Plumbing Techs or Magic Plumbers (they go by both names) and that his excuse was that the garbage disposal units they sold were not the same as the ones sold "at a discount". This was a lie, of course, because the garbage disposal unit we got installed is an Insinkerator- Badger 1, exactly the same brand and model sold at the Home Depot for $75. What I got from this is that: 1. Granite Transformations did not really know whom they subcontracted. They do not assume responsibility for their actions. 2. The employee plumber (David) was not acting unethically on his own, the owner backed him up. 3. The company (Plumbing Techs or Magic Plumbers) is dishonest and lets their plumbers extract as much money as they can from their clients. I am not complaining here for monetary gain, what we have lost is lost, after all, we said yes to the $225. My review here is to warn others. Stay away from Plumbing Techs or Magic Plumbers. Their paperwork says Plumbing Techs but Granite Transformations knows them as Magic Plumbers.

Response from Plumbing Techs
[member name removed], We apologize for any misunderstanding that you feel we had caused on one of our plumbers visit to your house. We have gone over this with David the tech that was at your house and he has stated that he explained to your husband that he would have to replace your existing disposer and he quoted your husband the fee and your husband accepted the price. Our employees will not perform any task without the owners prior authorization. Please keep in mind that any parts that our company supplies falls under our material warranty and of course as with any company we will realize a markup on our supplied products. We warranty all our products for 2 years from date of install not the standard 12 months that most contractors give. It was then explained to us that upon completion you came downstairs and re-negotiated the fee, normally we do not change pricing after a prior fee is agreed upon and completed but David did so as to avoid any issues. We understand that consumers can purchase materials on their own and normally this would be done ahead of time and our installation fee would be reflected, also we do not warranty consumer purchased items for the obvious reason, As for the granite company that we install for, we have worked for them and many others for many years and we have built many customer relationships through their customers for future plumbing needs. We again apologize for the misunderstanding and hope this helps in some way.
