I used an Angie's List coupon to order this service - the deal was $29.95 for a service call. THIS IS A SCAM. You are buying nothing. It says 49.95 value, but in fact, it has no value. You get no tune up - no oiling of hinges - no anything. You are paying for them to show up, and here is the kicker: you don't have to. They have a coupon in the print edition of Angie's list (January 2015 book, featured service honor roll section) for a FREE service call. And plenty of other places do not charge for service calls, I have since learned. I was hugely burned and really regret buying this. Also of note: the minimum labor charge from this company is $125. So if, like me, you need only 10 minutes of work, too bad - that will still cost you $125. Plus the cost of the "service call" (aka showing up), if you are fool enough to pay for that too (like I was). All of this said, the guy was professional and seemed to do a good job in the 10 minutes he was here. I'm not knocking the actual service, just the outrageous cost and deceptive "deal".

Brad was so nice, efficient and prompt. I called on 18th and they came on 19th. I am sure they could have told me I had to have new one..but explained it needed oiled and he even showed me how to do that myself for next time. .i will definitely use them again in the future and recommend to my friends.

Things went great, we had set up an appointment for services. Turns out my garage door issue isn't a problem anymore, so I wont be needing the service.

He was willing to show me how to conduct regular maintenance by myself and also helped me to recode the keypad.

I called to inquire about the types of garage doors and the cost of them, as well as the same for garage door openers. After speaking with the salesman on the phone, I tentatively picked the door and opener that he recommended. He said that he'd write up the paperwork and we scheduled a date for someone to come out and do a final measurement. When the fellow arrived, he had both the paperwork and a brochure showing the various garage doors. He, too, recommended the same door and opener that the salesman on the phone did. In hindsight, I don't think that I needed the top of the line models and probably would have been satisfied with something lesser expensive. This is the only situation for which I wasn't entirely happy. I signed the paperwork, paid the deposit, and scheduled for the installation. When the third fellow came to install, he was prompt, professional, friendly, and went right to work. When he finished, he explained how it worked and how to maintain it. He cleaned up after the job and took away all of the materials from the old garage door and opener. All in all, I was happy with the job and the new garage door and opener.

I backed into my garage door causing the door to be stuck halfway, unable to close or open it, with my car stuck inside. I called a few repair places but was unable to get anyone to come out, A-1 doors said they were very busy but would send someone out at the end of day. as promised the repair man showed up and was able to make my door operational. He gave prices on panel replacements or a whole new door or keeping the door as is with some dents that will not hurt the operation of the door. No pressure or hard sell just the facts. When I do replace the door A-1 door will get my business

After one of the springs had broken on my garage doors, I did some research locally on recommended services and found A-1 came highly recommend. So, I decided that A-1 was the only company I'd called. The A-1 rep came out promptly, and did a thorough assessment of the repair work to be done, but obviously recommended replacing the door. Having had some repair work done on my parents home not too many years ago, I knew that repairing springs and openers can be somewhat pricey. So, I did some analysis on repair versus replace impact. Bottom line, seeing as the door and opener were at least 30 years old, I agreed to get an estimate on replacing the whole system and even updating to a better design with windows. The color of the new door matched perfectly with the new siding I had done earlier in the year. Bottom line, I felt very comfortable with the recommendation, price and promptness of their service. The new door looks great and works perfect. I probably could have found a little better pricing from some other contractor, but the quality of work and overall experience was well worth it with A-1 Door Systems. Great work, Paul and team.

I was quoted $49.95 but charged me $125.00 just check a garage door (a house call). I feel like I got cheated and aken advantage. They only were out here for 5 minutes.

My wife called A-1 Door Systems Inc and told them that the light bulb in our garage door opener would not work. We had tried changing it with a new one before. They told us they would come look at it. The person who came out ran a full diagnostic test on the garage door. My wife only asked for the light to be working. We were told that the new types of light bulbs do not work with the garage door opener we had so my wife got an old style light bulb for the technician. He screwed the light bulb into place and it works. Then he tried to up sale us on rollers which were not needed for a perfectly working garage door. He then charged my wife $125 in labor for screwing in a light bulb. My wife told him she had a coupon form AL and he said that was for a service call and did not count towards labor. We feel this company used the bait and switch tactic because screwing in a light bulb does not warrant a $125 labor charge. I contacted the general manager who explained to me that they did labor and therefore had to charge me the minimum labor fee. I am not someone who does negative reviews on companies but this is not a company that treats its customers fairly or with respect. A respectable company would have charged a service call ($50 or so) as their customer service person suggested when first contacted. Since the technician knew what the problem was within 30 seconds of being here, this must be a common thing they are aware of. That being said, you would expect the people who answer their phones to know this information - thus avoiding a situation like this altogether.

I purchased the $19.99 service call deal. They were on time, professional, work was done quickly and satisfactorily. I would've like to have been aware of the $125 minimum labor cost beforehand as I honestly would have just done the work myself as there was really not that much to do and it was done very quickly, however, other than that, it was a very positive experience and I would hire them again

A-1 did respond promptly and on time as they promised. They replaced two hinges that had broken and ball bearing rollers, plus routine maintenance. I was not at home, but my wife said it took about 45-60 minutes, total cost was $300. I know the materials probably did not cost more than $30, I thought for the time it took, labor rate was kind of high. I might be wrong, and I did not have time to get other quotes so I ok'd the work. Price was the only issued I had.

The installer was really nice, friendly, punctual and prepared.

I found and purchased an advertised deal on Angie's list for a half hour garage door service call for $19.95. Doug, at A-1 Door Systems, called me to verify my purchase and to schedule a service time. I indicated to him that all I needed was for someone to help me reprogram our three remote garage door openers. He assured me that this could be accomplished. Brad, the service technician, did a great job reprogramming our three remote door openers. He was a little bit behind schedule but, called ahead to let us know that he was running late, which was appreciated by my wife and me. After Brad finished reprogramming our controls—which took about 15 minutes—he proceeded to verbally assess our overall system, including the opener and door itself—something Doug had told me Brad would be doing. When Brad finished I told him to please put together a cost estimate for the repairs/adjustments he'd just suggested and that I would review them and get back to A-1 if I decided to proceed. At that moment I could tell that Brad was confused, which in turn confused me. Apparently, A-1's private contractor service technicians are put in a situation whereby their payment is contingent upon them being able to "up-sell the customer" during the service call, on items and/or services the customer may not want nor need. Brad wasn't aware that I had already paid for the service through Angie's List but, it became clear when I showed him my Angie's List receipt. I don't blame Brad for the subsequent awkwardness, I blame A-1. The customer "experience" is everything. Although I ultimately got what I paid for, it was definitely an uncomfortable situation. Brad and I cleared up the misunderstanding and parted on good terms, I have no problem recommending him. Because of the spurious nature of A-1's Angie's List ad, and it's failure to accurately set my customer expectations, I might find it hard to recommend A-1.

Awesome job!!! My garage door wouldn't close so I called A-1 door. They were out to my house within probably 2 hours of me calling them. They had to replace a spring that broke, fixed it right then and there, and was done in probably 45 minutes to an hour. The gentlemen (i do not remember his name) was so professional and even gave me advice on how to care for the springs on the door. Hopefully my door does not go bad anytime soon again, but if it does, I will definitely be calling A-1 back for sure!

VERY prompt! we were having an issue with our door not closing at all. We contacted them late at night and by the next morning,we had a message from them and we called and got a same day appointment. They were very prompt and did a thorough check of our entire system and solved our problem. Did not try to sell us any unnecessary products. Our service rep even fixed a dented track on our 2nd garage door. We would definitely use them again and I have already referred them out to a friend! You will not regret working with them!

I contacted A1 Door Systems on Monday because my door was heavy and I was unable to lift it during a power outage. The person I spoke with over the phone was very courteous. He sent someone out the next day the help me. The associate showed up on time and ready to work. Upon inspection of the door he quickly discovered that I had broken springs. He replaced the broken springs, balanced the door, secured and lubricated all of the hardware and adjusted the opener. Before he left he let me test the weight of the door to ensure I was happy with his work. He was very polite. I feel that A-1 Door Systems Inc did a great job, and I would recommend them to others.

I have had really bad luck in the past with service on my garage door and I have finally found a company that I'm happy with. Nate arrived on time and was very knowledgeable. Our garage door would close but it wouldn't open. It only took him a few minutes to determine the problem. We had a very old garage door opener that was malfunctioning. He took a lot of time to explain everything to me and showed me exactly where the problem was occurring. He gave me the option to repair the old opener. He told me the pros and cons and I decided to replace it based on his recommendation. Our door was also very noisy and he said that it was because we had steel rollers. He replaced those with ball bearing nylon rollers and I can't believe how quiet it is now. He helped me set up the key pad for the new opener and showed me a few options that are available with this model. He was very professional and a really nice guy. I appreciate that he took the time to go over everything and that he gave me the option of repairing it instead of just telling me that I needed a new one. I felt that he was very honest and will definitely use them again.700

I was told the installer would be at my house within the hour and he would call when he was on his way. He called 30 minuets later and told me he was on his way. When the installer arrived, I asked how long would it take. He said two hours. On hour and 50 minuets later, he was knocking on my door saying the job was complete. Excellent work and punctual. They were able to come out same day and explain what all needed to be done and what could wait. The pro who showed up did not try and sell me anything that i did not need which was more than i can say for some other places that i had come look at the problem.
