We needed a new to replace the wall unit and replace hoses, which they had in stock and replaced right away. Very satisfied with the professionalism and friendliness of the Supervisor and technician.

 + -1 moreThe day of the appointment, The plumber, Charlie, arrived on time and was very professional. He took a look at the job, explained what he needed to do and then began. He was detail orienented and explained everything to me. He answered all of my questions and offered suggestions. For example one of my sinks was already chipped at the drain and I had hoped the new fixture would cover up the damage. When Charlie explained and showed me that it actually wouldn't he called his office and got me a similar but nicer sink and proceeded to change out the sink, that day, even though it wasn't in the original plans. Another example, I had a dripping shower head that was also leaking. Charlie diagnosed the problems, fixed them, no problem. NOTE: two other, previous plumbers, who we considered, claimed to have no clue what was causing the leak and could only and quot;speculateand quot;. I highly recommend Longs Plumbing for price, customer service, and professionalism. In my experience they are genuinely kind, down to earth people!
Description of Work: I needed fixtures changed on 3 sinks, a tub and a shower unit. I had a few quotes/estimates and Long's was not only the best estimate, they were the most professional during the initial phase. Kathy Gibbs was attentive, informative and kept in contact with me during the planning, scheduling phase of the job.

 + -1 moreWe use them a lot. They are easy to get hold of. They are responsive and come out within a day or two. Charlie has been out a couple of times. He is very easy to deal with. He is very professional and wears his booties. He knows what he is doing. He is very personable. The pricing is very good. Their pricing is so much more reasonable than another company we used to us. They are very friendly. We get an actual person when we call and we like that. They have been able to fit our schedule. They will send somebody out right away if needed. The people that answer the phone and that come out are very friendly.
Description of Work: We used Long Plumbing to install two faucets in the master bathroom and a faucet in another bathroom. They took the old ones out and put in the new ones. They had to do some drilling to make the faucets fit better.

 + -1 moreWe purchased a new gas cooktop to replace an old electric cooktop as part of remodeling our kitchen. The general contractor for the remodel had arranged for a plumber to install plumbing fixtures and the gas line for the cooktop. After two failed attempts to install a flexible gas line (it leaked badly - twice), I told the plumber to leave, and told the general contractor that I wanted the gas line installed using black pipe. He gave an outrageous estimate for the job, so I told him that I would hire my own plumber to handle it. Checking on Angie's List, I saw that Long Plumbing has an excellent reputation. I called to request an estimate, thinking that I would have to wait a week or more since it was just a few days before Christmas. Instead, Long arranged to do the estimate on Saturday, December 22, and scheduled the installation for the 27th. Long's employee, Charlie, provided the estimate and did the installation. He was very professional throughout the process, calling to let us know when he would arrive, completing the job with outstanding quality in the time he had estimated, and coming within $2.00 of his original estimate. Charlie also installed the cooktop, which involved modifying the brackets that came with it to work in our cabinet. Charlie did an outstanding job. I highly recommend Long Plumbing and Charlie, and would not hesitate to have them do any other plumbing work in my home.

The install of both units was completed in one day which including removing the old units. The workers were very friendly and clean during the whole process.  + -1 moreI attempted to make the repair and soon learned I was over my head. I called Long based on reviews from Angie's list and locally owned business. The appointment time was set and the morning of the appt, Jeff called from the road to give me an ETA. He arrived in the company van, dressed as to identify himself as an employee of Long and introduced himself. He put on his little booties and came in to check the toilet. He asked what was happening and I explained what had happened and what I had done. He retrieved his tools and began dismantling the toilet. He applauded my efforts to repair it myself after using the sawzall to remove the rusted bolts. Once the toilet was apart, he went the extra mile to clean the wall behind the tank that never gets cleaned, as well as the back of the tank and the inside of the tank that had years of rust build up. He was tidy and cleaned up everything and never asked me to dispose of anything, instead doing it all himself. He even took the bathroom trash can that was partially full of water from the toilet outside and dumped it. Jeff was very professional and we had a great conversation while he worked. He was here for about an hour and completed the job and all the paperwork. And because the toilet had been leaking for a while, he inspected the pipes and floor boards below the toilet, from the basement side.
Description of Work: My toilet was leaking where the tank attached to the bowl. I had attempted to correct it by purchasing the repair kit at Home Depot, but found that the bolts on the toilet were rusted to badly to take apart. The bolts needed to be cut with the sawzall, which I did not have. Then the tank was removed and the rubber gasket was replaced, as were the inner workings of the toilet, then everything was cleaned and bolted back together to make a working toilet again!! YaY!!

 + -1 moreThey are very responsive and very knowledgeable. They have had the same plumbers working with them forever and I get people I know coming over to my house. They have a very friendly staff all the way around. Their pricing is very reasonable. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Long Plumbing Co since I had some leaking pipes and for some faucets which needed to be adjusted. They also fixed an outside faucet and did a lift pump in the basement to lift the water up from the basement into the septic tank. I use them for everything including my rental homes and I have been using them for years.

 + -1 moreWhen I called about a leaky faucet, they required a minimum payment of $55.00 to evaluate the situation at my house. The plumber who came out was very puctual and courteous. He immediately identified what was wrong with the faucet and repaired it immediately. He also noted that my toilet could use a inexpensive part to stop making a certain noise and he fixed that too for little extra cost. I would definitely recommend them.

 + -1 moreI needed to replace an old copper gas line before taking delivery of a new dryer, and had a slightly tight time frame to complete the job. I was traveling for business, and submitted an on-line request from Long's website before hitting the road for my next stop. Long's called me the next day, within the requested time frame (morning). Karen confirmed the work I wanted to have done, then explained the charges (hourly rate, etc). We set up the appointment window for the following week when I would be back home. Jeff arrived when I expected him, was friendly and professional, and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I was pleased to see that there was no clean needed when he was done. I couldn't even tell he had been there, aside from neat new gas line. He even disconnected my old dryer and moved it to a more convenient place in the basement for me and gave me a rough estimate for another small job I need to complete. Thanks, Jeff! I will be sure to keep Long's number handy the next time I need a plumber.

 + 0 moreOverall, I am satisfied. Because it was a Saturday, we paid significantly more -- but it was also a life and death situation... carbon monoxide sickness ...how do you put a price on your health? Priceless.
Description of Work: It was a Saturday afternoon when my friend and I experienced carbon monoxide sickness in my mother's home while cleaning out the basement. We intermittently smelled a whiff of gas as we passed by a corner area in the basement where we were cleaning. Thinking nothing of it, we moved on to clean out items in the rafters and both of us kept feeling nauseous, and I kept experiencing panic attacks. Both of us would walk outside to get fresh air and return to the basement to work and experience the same symptoms. When I walked by the area of the basement where I smelled whiffs of natural gas, I decided to call Consumers Energy. They came out within one hour and determined we had 4 gas leaks in the basement. One major leak was in the corner of the basement where the natural gas line entered the house; 3 other leaks were on the newer furnace boiler valves. Consumers shut off the natural gas. I called Longs Plumbing around 4 pm this Saturday afternoon because I was told a full service plumbing company handles these types of things. Longs came out in an hour, fixed the gas leaks and turned the natural gas line back on. I have had no trouble since. Sadly, these gas leaks had probably been going on for over a year or so, because my mom (83 year old) kept complaining of feeling nauseous, anxious, and just not feeling right. After my mom's passing and I moved in to my mom's house, I kept experiencing panic attacks, in fact, I kept feeling like I had to hold my breath while in the house. I thought I was experiencing panic attacks from my mother's passing. Sometimes, during the winter, I would walk outside to get fresh air...a remedy for panic attacks. Here it turned out to be carbon monoxide... I would not have discovered the problem if my friend and I had not commenced to clean out the basement.

 + -1 moreMy water heater is 14 years old and it started to leak from the threads of the boiler drain. I called one plumber on the phone and they said it sounded like the hot water heater had to be replaced, but they would not give me a price for a new water heater over the phone. I had used Long's in the past, I called them. I described the problem. Kathy said that a new 50 gal water heater would be $720 if need be. After setting up a time to come out, Charley called 10 minutes before the appointment time, said he would be there in 5 minutes and he was. He was very courteous, repaired the valve, checked for leaks, and he was on his way. I was happy I got out of it for $99.00 instead of $720.
Description of Work: My water heater had a leak from the threads of the boiler drain. The boiler drain valve was replaced with a new brass valve and the problem was solved.

 + -1 moreFirst came out to look at system for an estimate. Estimate was mailed to me a few days later with two options. The price was comprable, but a little less than another estimate i received. I called and made appointment. They came out to do the work and it was discovered that the option I chose (which way to route the pipes) was not possible due to an air return in the ceiling which was in the way. We went with the other option, and i was charged the lesser price quoted. I had a few questions about other plumbing issues, which the employee took a look at and made recommendations. There was not time to complete the additional items, but I was not charged a service fee when he came back a week later.
Description of Work: Installed new sump pump and water backup pump system.

 + -1 moreIt was Saturday, about noon and my had wife noticed a sound coming from the basement. Upon checking it out, our sump pump was running continuously with very little water in the well. It keep runninng, so I cut the circuit breaker and then turned it back on. The pump did not come on, so I poured water into the well above the float. It still didn't work, so I called Long Plumbing who I have used in the past. They had a technician, Jeff, call me back within 5-10 minutes. He said he was on a job, had one more and estimated a 2pm eta. I asked the price and was satisfied since he was able to fix it right away and thunderstorms were predicted later in the day. Jeff called right before coming and was at my home prompty at 2pm. He was very cordial and professional. He replaced the pump with a high quality metal pump replacing a mainly plastic one that the builder had installed. Jeff was very neat and tested the pump and was done in less than an hour. I even asked him if he had a replacement fitting for my sprinkler system which was pvc and had split and was leaking. He found a metal fitting which I offered to pay for, but he refused and gave it to me. He saved me a trip to the hardware store and later that day we did get heavy downpours. In fact, torandoes had hit parts of SE MI later that afternoon. I may have found someone cheaper, but was very pleased with my decison and the service provided on short notice. Definitely, would use them again.

 + 2 moreLong Plumbing is our go-to company for plumbing work. Our house is 80 years old and a bottomless pit of plumbing trouble. Long has performed a wide variety of services for us, from replacing the sewer line to plumbing our basement to installing our sump pump, and dozens of repairs/replacements/snaking/troubleshooting visits in between. Their work is not always perfect and we have occasionally been disappointed/frustrated by a $250 snaking bill that did nothing to solve the problem for which we called them, but overall they are great. We usually get three estimates for major projects and Long is always the lowest price or very close. The plumbers are prompt, professional, and friendly, and the two plumbers we see most regularly have been with the company for years. Their work is *almost* always great. We are big fans of Long and are so glad to have a reliable and trustworthy company to work with.

I did feel that Long's came out to do the work in timely fashion, and the unit ran much better after they were done. I would give them a call again in the future if we have problems.
Description of Work: We had a lot of problems with our furnace and they replaced a lot of the parts in the motor of it. This was covered under our one year home warranty that came with the house when we purchased it. We were only obligated to pay a $50 deductible.

Description of Work: The outdoor faucet had frozen from winter weather conditions which resulted in a broken pipe. The plumber installed a new faucet and pipe. It took a few hours to repair it.
