DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. We unfortunately used Craig Lee for a home inspection service a few years ago, & he left many substantial issues off from his report, which led us to believe we were buying a house in good condition. That was not the case. I had a follow up inspection performed by a different inspector shortly after we moved in because these issues became very apparent, and they found a substantial number of items such as the roof needed to be completely replaced, the crawlspace was never even inspected by HomeTeam and needed work, corroded plumbing, issues with the grading sloping towards the house, lights wired with extension cords, ALL found during a routine inspection by a second inspector, shortly after we bought the house. I have 100's of pages documenting how poorly of a job HomeTeam did. I pursued obtaining compensation from Craig Lee & his E&O insurance company and all they offered was the $484 fee I originally paid for the inspection when all of these repairs cost us around $30,000 and we don't even have them all fixed yet. I consulted a lawyer, as their insurance's entire goal is to force you into court and drag it out costing you untold legal fees with no guarantee of winning because being negligent IS a legal defense for an inspector. In Michigan, you have to prove this job was done poorly INTENTIONALLY/FRAUDULENTLY in the court of law and that is hard to do if the inspector can just say "he didn't know what he was doing" and he will be absolved of any consequences, as will the insurance company. Unfortunately, we did not pursue this in court or take the $484 offer, putting a massive financial strain on our life the past few years.

Craig got to the house before we did and performed an excellent inspection under less than optimal conditions. It was very cold that day and there was no heat on, as it was a foreclosed property. Still, he took all of the time needed to walk through the three floors of the house, plus attic and basement, including time to answer and explain situations to me. He identified multiple areas of concern that I missed during my own visits to the property. The price we paid for the inspection included a discount as the water heater, furnace and bathrooms were not functioning at the time of the inspection, which I thought was fair. Additionally, he walked through the snow to review the exterior and even did a quick walk through of the detached garage, which was not required. A full, electronic report, complete with pictures was available for us the very next day. I have used Craig's HomeTeam in the past and would recommend him in the future. The only negative I have is the electrical was supposed to be turned on the day before the inspection. Craig said there was no power to the house. I have since contacted DTE and they said the power is on. I won't know for sure until we close if there is a problem or if we just needed to resent some circuit breakers and/or fuses.
Description of Work: Provided residential inspection for a 80 year old, foreclosed house we had an offer on to purchase in Detroit.

As a first time homebuyer, I was dependent on the home inspection. Months after I have been living in my home I have had to repair problems that the trained eye should not have possibly missed on inspection. Example: The tile behind the toilet was badly stained, it was not until 1 day after I moved in that the leak from the toilet was visible to me. But after I found the leak I realized the dark stain on the tile was an obvious indicator there was a problem. The pvc piping under the bathroom sink was unprofessionally installed and I have to have it removed and installed because the way it is set up completely blocks the water shut off. Lights dim upstairs when I use more than 1 outlet. Kitchen cabinets have began separating from wall because they were not properly installed. (These are brand new cabinets that I now realize were obviously installed by a non-professional). Rolling closet door fell off the 1st day I used it. If the inspector had simply opened and closed this door he should have recognized it was not hinged properly.
