Felan and Sons was prompt, clean and well dressed, he arrived on time to do the bid. However I received the bid on a 2,000 square foot house for just under $20,000 to paint, prime and scrape the exterior of the 1 1/2 story house. His estimate below; Here is the cost for the painting of your home. Should you accept a detailed proposal will be submitted for you . Otherwise we only submit the cost for the project. The cost includes all labor and paint by Sherwin-Williams . Also there is a cost for no lead renovation and with lead renovations. Also a cost to repair some rotted wood and no repairs at all $16,505.00 with some rotted wood repairs ...(nothing major or unforeseen are included) some wood repairs means visual areas like broken fascia or rotted siding. Does not include frame work or any areas not seen during the estimate. Includes up to 3 colors and complete painting of all siding and window casements . Does not include any window rails or inside stiles. Does not include missing or broken window glazing. Does not include Lead renovation. Add $2,800 if lead is found and needs to have a lead renovation procedure performed. Be sure to get at least 3 other estimates from Licensed painting contractors.. Remember it is illegal for anyone to paint hired by you for a cost over $599.00 including the paint. So be careful and check for the State license and lead certifications. Just an odd estimate and I felt completely out of line for a 2,000 sq foot house in the city with a roof height of about 26 feet. it appears others are paying 4,500 or so for the same work. Again it is only a 1.5 story house. I did not care for the " be careful" statement. I sent him a message confirming the 20k and he said yes, quality work is expensive.

Felan and Sons Painting and Decorating is by far, the best painting company we have ever used. Their price was fair, not the lowest, but not the most expensive either. The crew is dressed professionally, conducts themselves professionally, are extremely efficient and did an outstanding job. They even take all their brushes, rollers and material with them and clean it back at their shop - never used the laundry room sink to clean their equipment (as others have tried in the past). We cannot recommend this company strongly enough. We will definitely have them back again when we're ready to complete painting the finished lower level. Outstanding job.
