Mr Rooters cleaned out my plugged sewer pipe twice only a few days apart. They determined I needed my sewer pipe relined (usually good for five years). I had another company replace the sewer pipe from in the basement out to the hook up in the street for the same price. As a way to increase profits, they wanted to look at all my plumbing through out the house and give me prices on fixing or replacing fixtures. I only allowed them to look at those in the basment and was given a price on replacing my water heater, etc.
Mike Farnsworth of Mr. Rooter installed new sewer line from my house to the city stub. His claim; I "will never have sewer problems again!" 3 years later, the drain was clogged again and needed to be dug up. This time he said he had not previously connected to the stub, "the stub is under the center of the road" and I needed to replace the rest of sewer line. Fortunately for me, Mike could not find anyone to excavate the sewer~I can only guess why a master plumber in business for 15 years does not have excavators. I fired Mike and hired a plumber capable and honest. What we found was the connection between the new pipe and the city stub was loose, causing roots to grow into the line. Total replacement cost for replacing the sewer line a second time...$1895.00. Farnsworth denied any responsibility, claiming the new plumber caused the damage. He also claims the stub is under the road; I have documentation and video proving the stub is 33 feet from the center of the road, right where his connection failed. I sued Farnsworth in small claims court and was awarded $1895.00 plus $144.22 in court costs. Five months later, I have received 5 payments totalling $82.99. A payment plan was never discussed or aggreed upon. I was a good customer of Mr. Rooter/Farnsworth for several years. He sent postcards with coupons stating he wanted to be my "plumber for life". He is either incompetent or a crook, as a master plumber should know where the city stub is located, and how to properly connect a sewer line.
Description of Work: I hired Mike Farnsworth to replace the water and sewer lines from my house to the city stub. After 3 years, the sewer line was clogged with roots again and Mike augered/cleaned the line again-he also quoted me a 2 year warranty on the cleaning. 5 months later, clogged again.

My sump pump was running a lot more than I thought it should have been. (much more than in the past). I was thinking there may have been a water line broken somewhere causing this to occur. They were able to schedule my appointment for after 6 to accommodate my schedule. The guy showed up right on time and after listen to my issue, he told me there was nothing wrong at all. He wrote up an estimate for a new sump pump for me, but told me that I really didn't need one. I really appreciated his honesty and not trying to take advantage of a single female!
Description of Work: Estimate on possible broken underground pipe, or faulty sump pump.

I can't believe I let him talk me into this mess.
Description of Work: Wed nite at midnight my iron water pipe separated and began shooting tons of water into my basement. I went through the yellow pages for emergency services and found Mr. Rooter. They told me to turn off the water and they would be at my house at 8:00 in the morning. I have a home built in 1885, with an old MI basement. I finally found the shut off and waited till 8. He showed up on time and began telling me how bad it was that I had an iron pipe in my home, iron pipes are not up to code. I had a joint that had separated. Both parts of the pipe were about 5 inches from each other hanging in the air. I begged him to put in a new joint and hook the pipes together. He said no one could do this because it wouldn't be up to code. He talked me into replacing 10 foot pipe with up to code pipe. He cut out the pipe and in doing so disconnected my toilet. He went up stair and drilled a hole in my brand new bathroom floor, stuck a kleenex in the wall where the existing pipe was and put the new bright red pipe from the basement up to the toilet. He then took the top off of the tank and said this toilet tank was not up to code. He bent my tank parts and flushed the toilet. My bathroom floor leaks and my toilet won't stop running. I have to turn the water off at the bottom of the tank to stop the water from flooding the floor. He originally quoted $300.00, I had his coupon from the internet for $35 dollars off. He said he could only give me $10 dollars off, because he hadn't charged me for the work he did in my toilet tank.

It is really good that we found Mr. Rooter, as they were very knowledgeable as to what needed to be done in order to get the drainage lines in our home working again. They were very neat, professional and knew that just because you get one plug out, doesn't mean the main is completely clear of blockage. They were right and because of their diligence, they completely cleared out my drains.
Description of Work: It was diagnosed that we had 2 drainage lines plugged up in our home which was causing backup. Using an auger, Mr. Rooter was able to go beyond the first plug to the second and open up the lines to main outside.
