I Initially hired Greg's Portable Welding because of the word "portable" in their name. I have an industrial fan that weighs about 100 lbs and was difficult to take around to various welding companies. When Greg first arrived at my house he told me that he could fix the problem. After about an hour of welding and $175.00 later he told me the fan was done. I paid him his money and sent him on his way. Shortly after he left I took all of the covers off the fan started cleaning it. I was ecstatic that this fan was going to, once again, work properly. After about 2 hours of cleaning I plugged the fan in and began to operate it. Immediately I noticed that the blades wobbled and vibrated the entire cage. Since it was late in the day I thought I would call Greg in the morning and tell him about the issue. I did just that. The next day another guy named Mark showed up and explained that he was going to work on the fan. Once I showed him the issue he worked with the fan for about an hour and informed me that he would have to take the fan back to the shop because it needed more work and other tools to get it right. So I loaded up the fan into his van and trusted they would get it right. Two days later I received a call from Greg telling me he was ready to return my fan. I called him back 3 different times trying to get in touch with him but no response. Finally, on the following Tuesday Greg answered his phone and told me, "Your fan is ready and appears to be in good condition." So we scheduled a time on the following Wednesday to have them deliver the fan. Once he arrived I immediately noticed the fan was NOT fix and something appeared to be really wrong with the fan. I went to the back and go a stand and placed the fan on its stand and plugged it in. It was then I saw that the fan was actually worse than it was when it left here last Tuesday. One blade was now hitting the side of the housing and the wobble was dramatically worse. Furthermore, the nut which hold on the blade wasn't flush with the motor (as it originally was) and it appears as if the blade could fly off at any moment. Needless to say, I was livid. I asked Mark what was the deal and he told me that he didn't work on it but Greg did and over two days. I called Greg and let him know how disappointed I was and that this was unacceptable. He did refund my money but I am now left with a fan that may not be able to be repaired because of the inept ability to do the job right. If they couldn't have fixed it then just tell me they can't fix it. Don't lead me on and then return a completely crappy job or product. And, don't call me telling me the fan is "fixed" when it's not and is in worse condition than when it left my house. I am sure they are great at welding little things like broken fences or other, small things but when it comes to problem solving and bigger projects then I would completely avoid using this company. I had a really bad experience.
