First of all, we started these projects months later than expected. I guess they were very busy in the summer. But let me say it was worth the wait. Tom was very easy to work with, and we feel, extremely honest. These were jobs that it was hard to find a contractor willing to tackle. Well, the garage floor was routine. Our 18 year old floor had crumbled along the edges for unknown reason. Tom suggested that we add color to the concrete rather than epoxy it later. Good suggestion and I think worth the extra cost. They tore it out and replaced and sealed the new floor. Looks great. The retaining wall is along the property line and next to the neighbor's fence. They dug up the rotting timber wall with a small back hoe. They replaced the old drain tile that doubled as the drain for the house gutters. They laid new filtered drain tile along the wall, then also put down new solid pipe and attached that to the downspouts. This is the way it should have been done originally. The piping was all done pretty much by the contractor's decision. The bid only mentioned drain tile, so the solid pipe was a bonus that contractor did because that the way it should be done. Bonus points for contractor! The seawall, and a concrete deck in front of it, were the biggest jobs. Our lot is 50' wide, but 250' long and fronts Lake Erie. No way to get heavy equipment from street between the houses. They waited until water level was low and brought heavy equipment along the shoreline. Using a shovel mounted (when I was a kid we called them "steam shovels") jack-hammer, they demolished the old wall and deck. They hauled away the debris the same way, along the shore. During construction of the forms for the wall they determined they had to go lower than originally thought for footers. No extra charge nor complaining. Then Tom suggested we put in a "walk-through" opening in the wall as he noticed a neighbor had that. They got that at the exact perfect height to match the wooden deck on the other side of the wall. When the wall was finished they poured the new concrete deck next to it with a nice positive slope to drain water back to the lake. We've gotten several compliments from neighbors. It wasn't cheap, but Tom was a pleasure to work with, and we feel he gave us our money's worth. Would highly recommend them as high quality and honest.
Description of Work: a) Replaced garage floor, b) replaced timber retaining wall with concrete, c) removed/replaced crumbling seawall and adjacent concrete deck.
