Superior Carpentry

Promptly returned call for estimate, prompt visit for estimate, promptly set installation date. Installed two outside doors, took greater part of one day. Standard rate of $400/door charged. Arrived on time, immediately set to work, accommodated missing part by waiting for me to get it (working on other door meanwhile), dealt with rain issues very well, kept work area very clean, worked with me to keep my dog out of their way. Clearly these guys are highly skilled and have a natural knack for construction work. For instance, while installing the basement door they ran into concrete beneath the sill. No problem, these guys had a portable jack hammer to take out the concrete!! Did not charge anything extra despite the >1 hr extra work. Clean up was thorough, old doors disposed of for free. Perfect job of installing the new doors. EXTREMELY PLEASED!! Will hire again for other jobs I have in the queue, no question.

It went great. One piece of advice if, like me, you like to select all the fixtures and fittings, make sure get them to arrive a month before you need them. This can avoid any issues with items arriving damaged which could potentially hold you up. The work in our house finished on-time, and any changes were a result of the materials we selected, rather than Superior Carpentry.

It went well. Timing as expected. We had to get them back to fill where the boards butted up to our fireplace, but that was no problem. No mess left at the end of any workday, which was appreciated.

James came to my house promptly after receiving my inquiry. He inspected and recommend finishing options for my wood floor. He returned a quote for services within 24 hours and had the job completed within a week. Very punctual and did a very good job. My floors look like new.

James and his assistant, Charlie, did an amazing job. They showed up early each day and worked non-stop. The result was perfect. This is our second bathroom remodel completed by Superior Carpentry and we were very impressed both times.

It went well. There was a little bit of an issue but he came and made things right.

James responded quickly to our inquiry for a quote to build a pergola over a concrete patio in our back yard. He discussed the different options and designs until we were comfortable with our choice. He showed up on time and performed the work exactly as was agreed upon. We have had it for over a year now and the quality of work is exceptional. I have and will recommend James to anyone that asks. I noticed the rotten wood and wanted it repaired quickly. James was very professional and fit me into his schedule -- impressive for a small job. The work was done well (including caulking in the seams), for the price he quoted, and within the week as he estimated. Who could ask for more?

Our flooring project went extremely well. The contractor was prompt on arrival time, was very informative, easy to talk to and was able to refinish our floors beautifully with the product we wanted. I would gladly rehire this company to complete another project in our home.

This was a huge job, and the three weeks went by fast. James and his helper were here everyday promptly, worked all day, and stayed until his daily goals were met. On a couple occasions it required a later end to his day due to problems encountered in a fifty year old house, but he stayed until the problem was solved. Starting with the demo of both rooms, he was very conscious in trying to keep the dust down using drapes to block others rooms, difficult to do when taking out walls and parts of ceiling to accommodate cabinets in kitchen and a shower stall in the bathroom. The extremely cold weather outside also didn't allow the house to stay open for long periods of time to alleviate dust since I was home during the work day, and James was very conscious of me staying comfortable while home. The nice part, after the demo, was seeing how much progress there was at the end of each day. He came in each day knowing exactly what his goals to accomplish were for that day. My garage was his work space, and not only was the remodel area cleaned everyday, but so was the garage area. Throughout the process I noticed how much James insures that the quality is always there, and that the customer gets the desired result. There is always a good line of communication and he is always open to questions, changes, and suggestions, and if an idea is possible he will make certain it gets completed. He took my phones calls and emails and always answered me promptly. He is a good problem solver, and when he ran into a couple issues that changed original plans we discussed it, and he always came up with a way to satisfactorily remedy the situation. He definitely wants to give the customer that superior quality. He also offers suggestions that can save both time and money. I very quickly came to respect and value his expertise, and felt that he valued my input as well. I had initially called Superior Carpentry based on Angie's List reviews, and I am glad I did. I highly recommend his work, his professionalism, and his work ethic. He is someone who takes pride in his workmanship and rightly so. I already have future projects for him, and won't hesitate to call with any kind of household project, big or small. He certainly can handle it all, and seems to align himself with others ("his granite guy") who also feel the same about giving fair priced quality service. Superior Carpentry is an A-! quality business and comes very highly recommended. I am glad I found someone I can trust who stands behind his work.

After waiting a long time for a big box store to do the job and ultimately saying they couldn't do the job Superior Carpentry did the job well. They showed up at time and day of appointment and were prepared to complete job.

It went great I gave him the specifications of the steeps. He actually made the steps better than the original manufacturers and what so good about this company is that he was fast. I would recommend James to anyone who's looking for quality work.

James from Superior Carpentry does excellent work. Very punctual and extremely efficient. He provided us with a quote for the floors and did an excellent job that was finished on time and on budget. He also built 8 large bookshelves for us to house our library in the basement. Very good craftsmanship from James and I will absolutely use his services in the future, and I have absolutely no reservations about recommending him to others.

James Scherzer - owner of Superior Carpentary, did our kitchen renovation. James and his team did an exceptional job in meeting all of our requirements. James is a highly reliable professional. He is very punctual in meeting all the project needs (before, during and after the project is completed). James provides all the project contract details in writing and sticks by his commitment to complete the project per the specifications. He gives detail breakdown of labor and material cost. He is highly skilled and his handy work is exceptional. Each day during the renovation, James and his team ensures that house is dust free to minimize disruption to our family. James is also very honest and trustworthy. For example, when James refinished our old hardwood kitchen floors, he was not satisfied with the outcome of that work (no fault of his own - its just the old flooring), he gave concession in the pricing for that part of the project. Because James is meticulous and delivers high quality products, we have contracted his services on several different occassions over the years. I have recommended James to many of our friends and they too, have given their business to James for major house renovation projects. If you are looking for a trustworthy, honest and high skilled individual for your home renovation, I would highly recommend James and Superior Carpentary.

It was done flawlessly. I gave him instructions to put in some pendants where he felt they should go in the kitchen, and he installed them in the "right" location. Probably the best testament to his work was his willingness to come back immediately when one of his wires was cut by mistake. This was because of a mis-communication, and clearly not his doing. It is this follow-up that is very meaningful to me.

Superior Carpentry-- my "GO TO" contractor for impeccable workmanship, first-rate customer service and rapport! One of the most outstanding things about dealing with Superior is that, without fail, time-and-again, Superior shows up on time, on the agreed-upon start date AND finishes on time. I should mention that, unlike my past contractors, with Superior I never have to worry about clean-up. How many times have you been left with a mess after the contractor packs up and leaves? BRISSETTE, OF BIRCHLER, FITZHUGH, PURTELL & MADZIAR, PLC - THIS REVIEW IS BEING REVISED AS THEY ARE THREATENING LIBEL & SLANDER. THIS CLEARLY SHOWS WHAT TYPE OF PROVIDER WE'RE DEALING WITH. THIS REVIEW IS FACTUAL. Provider gave bid on basement flooring project on 01/29/15 and required a signed agreement and 1/2 down to get "on the schedule". Provider was originally offered CASH but indicated he wanted paid with a check (nearly $1900). He was notified the same day that the executed contract and the check would be in the mail on 01/30/15. He was additionally notified on 01/30/15 that the these items where sent out and it was requested that our job be placed on the schedule for the 03/19/15 date that we were originally given. When I returned the call to the provider he was very unprofessional in blaming my choice of flooring for the delay and refusing to accept responsibility for waiting 2 weeks after having a signed agreement to inquire into ordering the materials. When I explained we had a conflict with the new date he proposed he would only offer a date in June which, obviously was 4 months after having been hired. As of this updated review - it has absolutely been confirmed that the materials for my job were and ARE available and if ordered even today, have the latest deliver date of 03/10/15. Clearly this would have allowed the provider to have the materials in time to fulfill his end of the contract. I'm not sure how any of this review of the factual timeline of events is slanderous or libelous, but clearly this provider does not want any negative reviews on his profile. I don't fault him for that, but I obviously would much rather have preferred to have my job completed as agreed to and be leaving a positive review. I was even having this provider quote out a nearly $20,000 kitchen remodel. I have no clue why this provider would have given me information that has proven not to be accurate, but nonetheless, my floor will be installed. He is patient, cleans up after himself (very much appreciated), polite, careful, and pleasant to have around. He is available when he is needed, and that is terrific!

Simply outstanding! A few highlights include the installation of pencil trim around our existing shower wall tile to cover up the old brass metal trim. The pencil trim was James' idea vs the more costly and messy option of cutting out the metal trim and we couldn't be happier with the results. With the new vanity in the master bath, we went from one sink to two. The associated plumbing was a bit of a challenge to accommodate the additional sink but James figured it out in a way that did not compromise the size or function of the new vanity. After installing the new tile floors, James re-used the old baseboard. But, before re-installing the baseboard, he applied Old English to it first. The result is that the baseboard looks like new without the added cost. The quality of James' work is superior, his company name is justified. We have used James a few times in the past twelve months, each time our expectations have been exceeded. We are already planning our next project for James, Superior Carpentry!!

James and his helper (Charlie) arrived on the scheduled day and began work immediately. They used drop cloths all the way into the work site, left our home tidy at the end of each day. They worked steadily from 8a-5p and were always polite and considerate. When unexpected things came up, Jim called and discussed our options with us. And he went out of his way to ensure we always had a working toilet! Work progressed ahead of schedule and on budget; we upgraded a few things, but that was on us. When work was done we had very curious neighbors who wanted to see what we'd had done, and we were always proud to give them the grand tour. We are very pleased with our new bathrooms and plan to use Superior Carpentry again.

Jim was punctual and ready to work on day 1. He estimated 1-1 1/2 weeks for the job and finished within that time period (six working days to be exact). His estimate was straight-forward and he was flexible with my changing plan and we came in within budget. He even returned to work after a trip to the emergency room and getting 29 stitches in his hand one hour into the job.

Everything looked great when we came home,clean and ready to use. He took time to make sure the medicine cabinet fit properly because it was a little larger in size. Everything was great !!

James did a beautiful job with the tile for our kitchen. Both appliances and garbage disposal were installed properly and worked great. Everything was cleaned and worked finished on time.
