James installed 23 section of 8 foot fencing along with posts and hinged gate. James pointed out that the hinge kit will hold the 8 foot section but over time it will lean to one side. He suggested cutting the 8 ft section into and getting another hinge kit so there will not be as much stress on one side. Things like this are what sets him apart from other contractors.

James did a beautiful job with the tile for our kitchen. Both appliances and garbage disposal were installed properly and worked great. Everything was cleaned and worked finished on time.

Kitchen countertops and flooring were in poor shape in this home, an older farm house. James installed an epoxy coating to the countertops which involved several coats of epoxy and particulate material which was added for esthetics. The inlaid linoleum was replaced in the kitchen and eating area. The job was estimated and completed for that amount(which we can not exactly recall). The job was completed when planned and the job site was left clean and in order. The quality of James's work is very high and it is carried out in a very professional manner. This work was carried out in a home occupied by a disabled person with virtually no disruption to the life and schedule of that person and his staff. Would definitely recommend Superior Carpentry for building and handyman projects.

Our home has no basement and is small, consequently there is no storage space so this "other" building is used. This secondary building which is on our property had been reroofed several times, the last with sprayed-on foam. This was used because the roof was essentially flat. The roof had started to leak as the foam had degraded after 14 years. James and his assistant covered the roof with a membrane that has stopped all leakage and now directs rain water into the gutter instead of allowing it to go between the wall and the gutter. James came when we called and gave us an estimate for the job. They were here when we called, started the job on time, completed the job as when he had estimated and left the job site picked up and clean. The cost, which we can not recall, was what he had estimated and was lower than any other estimates which we received. We would definitely use, and have used, Superior Carpentry for repair and building jobs and would heartily recommend James.

A previous owner had covered, with aluminum, the header over the garage door. Water had run behind the aluminum and the header board had rotted. This was discovered when the door needed to be replaced. James came to the rescue and carried out the job in a very timely manner and at the cost he estimated. The cost was quite reasonable considering the amount of work that had to be done considering the covering had to be removed, the boards replaced and the covering replaced. The job was carried out and the metal replaced to look as it had before the work was carried out. The area was clean and neat when the job was done.

Outstanding response!! I was having trouble installing a new toilet so I left James a message seeking his help. He called me within an hour and soon after he arrived to modify the metal toilet bowl flange. Before he left he made sure the new toilet was going to fit properly and it did. Simply the best service I have ever experienced from a contractor.

Job went very smoothly, even better than we expected. James made several suggestions to make the final product look better than we imagined and saved money in the meantime. James was on the job when he stated he would start, and was very punctual in the morning. Job went exactly as he described the process to us before beginning it. Job was carried out while we occupied the home with virtually no disruption. James has carried out many jobs for us over several years. They include refinishing original wooden floors which turned out beautifully. He has installed a kitchen floor and new countertops in our disabled son's kitchen. Again, a beautiful job. He has done so many small repair jobs that we can not possibly mention them all. These were all done to perfection. James has installed a new membrane roof on an outbuilding on our property. This building has an almost flat roof which leaks no longer. The latest job was redoing a half bath in our home. It included all the work mentioned above. James has been a Godsend for us as we are not capable of, nor able to, any longer do what it takes to keep up an older home. He does it with a smile and never says it cannot be done. We would never consider having someone else help us to keep "This Old House" in tip top shape and cannot thank him enough .

We had high expectations based on all of the positive reviews we read on Angie?s list, and James far exceeded those expectations!! Our project had some challenges and James? skills and persistence enabled him to overcome those challenges with excellent results. For example, the original banister was not aligned correctly from the top to the bottom, the angles were not consistent and the spacing between the spindles was not correct. Perhaps the easier approach would have been to rip out the entire stairs and start fresh, which would have been much more expensive. Instead, James figured out how to install the new banister within the existing sub-structure, giving us a banister that had the correct spacing between the spindles and consistent angles, for an overall great result. Painting one of the bathroom walls also presented a challenge because the new paint would not adhere to a small section of the wall. After repeated attempts (patching, sanding, priming, painting and repeat), James determined that there was some type of invisible substance on the wall that was causing the paint to blister. He used varnish thinner to clean that section of the wall and finally the new paint adhered and looks beautiful. We?ve used many contractors in the 25 years we?ve been in our house and James has surpassed all of them. With most contractors we have used, we had to follow behind them to point out some flaws in their work so they could be addressed. With James, he is his own quality control, finding flaws that we never would have noticed and correcting them. James has very high standards and it was very evident in every step of our project. We are so happy with the results and with James that we have already hired him to remodel our two full baths.

The provider did an excellent job. He and his colleague were prompt and professional and completed the multiple jobs in a timely manner. They made sure to complete the basement bathroom before beginning on the one upstairs to ensure we had access to a functioning bathroom at all times. Care was taken to make sure that the rest of the house would not be harmed (tarp on carpeted stairs for example) or gave us a head's up if we would need to relocate items that could potentially be impacted. The provider checked in multiple times to make sure we were pleased with the progress and was willing to modify/complete requests as they came up. My husband and I were very pleased with the service and loved the final product. We would use this provider again in the future!

James was very prompt with his bid. Very easy going and easy to work with, also. He did an awesome job on my bathroom. The bathroom remodeling took place in early April, however, recently I had to call him because of a leak and he came right over and fixed it right up for me.

James is a a superior builder and demonstrates this by his craftsmanship, experience, and attention to detail. I am very pleased with the quality of his work. Price was fair for the amount of work James and his fellow carpenter performed. I would definitely hire Superior Carpentry again.

superior carpentry provided excellent advice to my wife and i when it came to our style and taste in cabinet. He even went so far as to go with us and help us with the layout and choices of cabinetry and countertop. the design layout and installation went flawlessly and he even added some extra touches that we had not even thought of. such as a beveled edge on our countertops with an oak inlay. 2x2 ceramic tile backsplash that looked amazing. he even suggested various colors that would go with our cabinet and countertops for the walls. the fit and finish on the drywall was amazing and the paint was also very nicely completed. This is exactly why superior continues to be our only carpenter. I trust this company whole hearted and would recommend him to anyone...

hired superior carpentry to remove an old entryway door that had definately seen its better days. during the removal we also had superior enlarge the opening to fit a new door we had ordered thru him . this proved to be a bit of a challenge due to the half brick fasode we have. Honestly i think challege is something he thrives on as it was nothing more than a speed bump in the road for him. in less than a day the old door was pulled out and the new one was framed up and installed nice and level with no issues. By the end of the second day the new door was installed complete with new molding inside and out and even the drywall and paint was touched up to match so that the wife and i had nothing what so ever to do. He even recommended what type and style of hardware we should use to make the door pop. Rarely if ever have i had anyone suggest things like this. This guy is truly a very gifted individual

built a 16x32 addition onto our existing 60x80 horse barn. we needed an addition to house our sawdust that we use as bedding for our arabian horse. Plus we needed an additional work shop area to store the tractor and have a maint. area as well. superior carpentry designed and built the entire area and even matched our existing pole barn metal siding with the correct color. a standard 9x8 garage door was installed on one end and a large 16 foot high 16 foot tall sider was installed on the other end. He also suggested that we install an opaque panel near the top of our siding to allow natural light to penetrate. This alone was a great idea as it does allow for some considerable light. He also had several ideas while installing the concrete floor that were incorporated into the design, such as the placement of expansion joints and the use of certain types of fasteners when attaching wood to concrete. all in all a beautiful addition to our existing barn and thus reasons such as this is why we continue to use superior carpentry.

Had Superior Carpentry make me a built-in cabinet under the area where my flat screen TV is located. I really had no idea what I wanted until I talked with him. He gave me numerous ideas and even suggested some things that could be added that I hadn't even thought of. In less than 5 hours he had cut, assembled and even completed the trim work on the surround sound system shelving, He had also cut and assembled a beautiful mantle above the shelving but below the TV so that it would have a more finished look. He even took the time to cut nice neat holes in the back so that all of the wiring could be hidden from view. I had no idea that one guy could be so talented.

Arrived early and set up promptly. Had to remove all tiling in basically 3 rooms including the tile, concrete backer under layment and in some cases the subflooring underneath. Removed probably 2000 nails in the process and had the entire area swept clean and prepped for work the next morning before they left the job site. In addition a sheet of clear adhesive backed protective wrap was placed onto our existing floor to protect it during removal of the old tile floor. the next morning they arrived as expected at the same time and went right to work on installing the new flooring. I have never seen anyone work as hard as they did without so much as more than a 10 minute break all day. the hardwood floor went down quickly it seemed and they never missed a beat. by the end of the day my wife and i were staring at a beautifully installed hardwood oak floor. it looked absolutely amazing and everything was cleaned up again. on the third and final day they finished putting down all the trim that had be saved from the previous floor but before it was installed, they freshened it all up with a nice coat of white paint. they also went around the room and touched up any additional paint on the walls from various scuff marks put there by having 2 young children run around. This is not the first time i have used this contractor and i can assure you it will not be our last. Honestly i wouldn't trust anyone else with the level of expertise this guy has for craftsmenship. Very pleased to say the least

They did a great job. The work looked good, was well done, and they cleaned up after themselves every day they were here. Before they started the bathroom was part of a master bedroom suite. They put up a plastic barrier to protect the bedroom from any debris created. They protected my belongings and cleaned up any mess. The work was done under the scheduled time and when they were done it looked very professional. They were easy to work with and very accommodating.

I emailed James asking for a bid. He replied the same day and came to my house a couple days later to look at the project. Better yet, as busy as he was, he sent me a bid the very next day. I?m not sure if he is the lowest price around, but his bid was significantly lower than the only other bid I solicited and it seemed very fair to me. James shows up on time, works hard all day long, and knows what he?s doing. He started my project on schedule and completed on schedule. He is able to handle last minute design changes and does quality work. I don?t know how he lowered my pergola, but he did and it turned out great. Everything turned out great! Judging from other reviews, James is just as skilled in other areas of general contracting work as he is in deck building. I have a wooden privacy fence that should be replaced and I will certainly call James when I?m ready to start that project. I highly recommend Superior Carpentry for your next project.

From estimate to finish, the experience was very positive. The job was completed on schedule. The workmanship is superb. I would confidently recommend Superior Carpentry.

Arrived when they said they would. Had to use alternative approach to snug sagging ceiling. Cost an additional $110 for materials. Very professional. Workmanship appears to be good.
