I have a driveway that is a third concrete and the rest gravel. I wanted to get the driveway paved before the winter time because I want it easy to be able to snow blow. James came out the day I called and gave me an estimate. The concrete part of my driveway stuck out about a foot and a half past the gravel. When he came out I told him I wanted the driveway to come out fully to the width of the concrete. I asked him to taper it about half way down. He did exactly what I asked for however when I got home I did not like the way it looked. I called and left a message for him that evening that i was not happy with the way it looked. He called me that next morning and was very pleasant, listened to what I had to say and came out that morning and fixed it. It looks great now. When it came time to pay the bill and I asked what I owed him, he gave me the original price we agreed to, which did not take into account the additional work done. I asked what the additional charges for the extra work was and he said if I wanted to cover the additional asphalt cost, that is all he would charge me. He also will call me with a reminder in the fall to seal coat the driveway. He was very professional and responsive. Update - in mid October I hadn't heard back from them regrading seal coating my driveway, I left a message and about a week later he called me back and said it was too cold to do it now , even though he was the one who told me we would do it in October, but he would put me on the list for first thing in the spring. We'll see how that goes. I'll update you then Update - it is now the end of May and I have not heard back from the company regarding seal coating my driveway. When I spoke to him in October I was told I would be first on the list for service in the spring, to date, I have not heard from them. I am going to find another company to do the seal coating. This one seems to lack the follow through. Update - being an asphalt driveway newbie, I thought I had received a pretty good deal, it turns out, that's not the case. I never heard back from the company regarding sealcoating my driveway and based on my conversation with another asphalt company, my driveway may need to be torn up and redone. I will know more when the estimator comes out.
