Home Service Corp quoted my home warranty company a price to replace my hot water tank that was more than 200% from 3 other quotes obtained. In addition, they charged me a service call and when they began aware that the service call fee was paid directly to the warranty company, they refused to refund my money. I will never do business with them again and will never recommend them again.

The heat exchanger was cracked on my furnace so I went through American home shield (big mistake) and was assigned home service corp. well they showed up on time did the inspection and said they had to go and see if the parts were available (after they got my $70) we waited for a week and nothing so we started calling. I finally got a tech to call me back and he said that the parts were still under the manufacturers warranty and they would have to order them. That was last week, so my wife called again and left messages and until today there is still no callback to say they ordered the parts or that the parts will be in in a few days. More to update as this goes along

Don't be fooled by and quot;24 hr emergency serviceand quot;. That just means they will come out at their convenience and figure out what the problem is, not that they will actually fix it in a timely manner. Doesn't matter if you shelled out $1000s for an A/C unit they installed. Too bad for you and too bad that you can't go anywhere else because years ago you never thought you would be expected to wait 2 weeks start to finish for a warranty repair in sweltering heat. If they are too busy, they won't get someone else (subcontractor or another company) to do it ... you just have to wait until they can get around it. Not very fair when you live Downriver and there is only 1 person who services all of Downriver (from what I understand). Service and ability to complete ongoing repairs matter, not just the high dollar installation, so choose your company wisely.
Description of Work: Called Home Service Corp for a warranty repair. AC had stopped working completely. Despite the advertisement of 24 hr emergency service, it took 2 days for someone to come out to diagnose and another week and a half for them to get around to coming back out to actually fix the problem. No phone call on the status of a part order. Had to chase that down myself.

The furnace stopped working and temperature dropped in our house to 50 degrees! Home Service was able to fix the problem by the same afternoon.
Description of Work: Called Home Service Corp as our home insurance company had instructed for repair to furnace on a cold New Year's Eve Day. They receptionist was able to schedule a same day appointment for 2-6 PM. She called about a half hour later to say a service person could come between 10 Am-2 PM if we were available. We were! The service professional called before arriving to let me know he was on his way. When he came, he diagnosed the problem (a broken motor blower) and had the replacement part in his truck. It was a tight squeeze for him to replace it, but he did so in about 90 minutes or so. He was polite, professional, efficient, and informative. We would definitely use this company again. The $100 fee was the deductible on our 2-year home insurance warranty.

They are the cleanest company we've ever worked with. They clean up very well. They also keep records of everything and update us on anything we need to do. They follow up with tax credits and inform us of rebates to save us money. We received a rebate from the manufacturer of our furnace that we didn't even know about! We signed up for an annual service with them, so they come out to service the A/C, furnaces, etc. In the past, we have had plumbers come in to make things worse and Home Service came in to repair the job of the plumbers. They are really just an amazing group!
Description of Work: On the most recent visit, they tuned up our furnace and winterized the air conditioner. We have been using their service for various repairs for about ten years now.

Boiler inspector - Carlin - came out and gave a readable estimate (I state readable so I did not feel no hiding cost). Made us feel comfortable with job details and what was needed from start to finish. We also need plumbing so we are going to follow up with them and have them do our boiler and plumbing jobs. Office staff was very "on the ball", she called me at 7:45am which I found unexpected but it let me know they were here for me - the consumer. Overall experience has been excellent so far. Will update after work is performed but so far I am actually excited to get this over with! It was a burden at first but this company has made me feel more at ease with their serviceso far.

As recent buyers of the house, we have a Home Warranty for one year so when the Air Conditioning didn't run effectively on the first hot spell of summer, we called the Home Warranty company who referred our service call to this company. We had to pay $60 and the warranty paid the balance. This company responded promptly to the warranty request on Thursday morning but did not have any service call appointments available until Monday. The service tech arrived as scheduled, seemed competent and amiable. He explained that the warranty does not pay to uncover the cause of the leak, only to refill the coolant to the normal pressure. While disappointed with my warranty limitations, he explained it clearly and I accepted it. He quoted the price for discovering the leak if I decide to do it in the future. Unfortunately, when he ran my credit card on the machine in his truck, the charge came through at $69 rather than $60. I do not know if this was a one-time mistake on his part or if it is part of systematic scheme. In either case, the credit card company reversed the overcharge.

All in all the experience was NOT horrible. The worker was very nice. I just thought he should have run the snake a second time to help me out. Maybe I was asking for too much, but I was disappointed and I felt the overall cost was high. But he did exactly what he was supposed to do...he just did not do anything more than exactly what he had to do.
Description of Work: I had rented two large snakes because my drains were plugged. I had tree roots come out of the main drain once and re snaked that drain two more times. When he arrived he snaked out the same drain and got a very very small amout of root and the drain cleared.I asked him to re run the snake deeper since he did not bring much out and maybe he could get more and he said no, it was draining and there was no need. I feel one additional run with his longer, larger and more powerful snake would have helped avoid future issues. I know that is not what his company wants because future issues mean more business for that type of company, however as a home owner I was hoping to remedy the current problem and do things to avoid future problems. He offered to put a camera down the drain at a reduced rate since he was there and I said yes, however his battery was dead and he could not run the camera. When he left I re snaked the drain again but my snake was not long enough. I had already spent over 300.00 in snake rentals and over 350.00 with his company so I had to stop. He quoted me a price and when I was paying he then recalled he needed to charge me the fee for my home shield program that arranged for him to come over. I felt the charges were too high for having a home warranty service. On the bright side, the worker was very nice, personable, friendly and he gave me the name of an associate that could run a camera down the drain.

Asked for a quote on a specific make and model of gas water heater to get high efficient model. Home service Corp called a few days later after the model I wanted arrived at there site and set up up a installation time. The installers arrived on schedule and were neat in removing the old water heater and installing the new unit. The new unit required some detailed installation items, but the crew did not rush the job. When finished, I was presented with the bill, just as quoted even though the job took a few more hours than expected to complete
