I had a section of wet carpet in my basement from a foundation leak after heavy rain. Flood Fighters returned my call within 10 minutes and came out promptly. They checked the floor and walls for moisture, removed paneling, rolled back the carpet, and removed and disposed of the wet section of pad. Fans and a dehumidifier were set up and left for a couple days, and the area was again checked for moisture. I chose not to have them replace the pad and paneling, though that was an option. I was satisfied with what they did, and with their professionalism, and with their respect of my sense of urgency.

To save us money there were several items in the kitchen that were not damaged that we planned on reusing, such as the appliances, the kitchen sink and faucet (which the Flood Professionals were aware of). When the day came to start the demolition they sent a crew to our house to remove our appliances and start ripping down the wall cabinets and ceiling. We noticed when we arrived home from work that night our kitchen sink and faucet were not protected and were damaged by falling plaster and lath. They also damaged our microwave hood. It looked as if they literally tore it off the wall because it had pry bar marks on the back of it. The front was so warped that the door would not shut correctly. So we immediately called the job supervisor to tell him about the damage. He told us that he would stop by the next day and take a look at it. He never did stop by to look at our microwave even after calling him several times. So even though we reported the problem to him right away they refused to take care of it in end. We contacted the owner of the company and she still refused to take any responsibility for the damage. We also contacted the Better Business Bureau and she still wouldn?t resolve the situation. I am very disappointed that they charged our insurance company a large amount of money and they wouldn?t even offer us anything to fix an issue they had caused. There were several other issues we had with them. It bothered me that they were using my broom and vacuum to clean up after themselves. They are the professional cleaners and they should have their own tools and not have to use ours. Also even after asking them several times to use protective coverings on our floors in the rest of the house they didn?t so we had to call carpet cleaners to come in when they were done to clean up their mess.
Description of Work: On January 18, 2011 my husband and I had a flood in our home. In the middle of the night a pipe elbow gave way in an upstairs bathroom and flooded the kitchen below. Even though we caught it fast it still caused enough damage that our kitchen had to be gutted. The next morning called Flood Professionals out of Traverse City. They did show up on time and started cleaning and trying to dry out our kitchen, but as time went on we had several issues arise.

We had a house fire in August of 2010 and flood professionals were called in by our insurance company, AAA of Michigan. Flood professionals guaranteed us everything would be cleaned to our acceptance, replaced, or wouldn't be billed. They billed and over billed everything. We are still fighting about it. They charged us for approximately 1300 square feet of tarp for temporary covering our house after the fire, when they used 100 square feet. They charged us for boarding up all the windows after the fire, when the fire department did boarded up all the windows after the fire. They charged us for 2 trucks for hauling our posessions out of the house, when they only used one truck. They charged us for many more dumpsters than they actually used. My guess is that flood professionals overcharge all their customers, and usually get away with it because most of their customers are in shock after some sort of disaster. My wife and I just came out of our shock a little quicker than some people, and something about the managment of flood proessionals didn't seem trustworthy to us, so we paid attention to them.Flood professionals also cashed a two party check in my name and their name, from my insurance company. It was for a disputed amount, that they eventually paid back to the insurance company. I would definately look elsewhere for a cleaning company if I had a second chance. We thought about it at the time, but flood pro seemed bigger than the local companies. Bigger wasn't better, and their local shop isn't bigger.
Description of Work: Flood pro did not clean our possesions, yet charged us for them. They did not even try to clean a great number of our things, and still charged us for them. My wife had her China dishes in a tote wrapped in newspaper for storage, and flood pro took her China out of the one tote, left it in the same newspaper and put it in two new totes. Flood pro did the same with most of our posessions. They got the easy ones clean, but most they didn't, and they charged us for EVERYTHING. Flood pro left our clothes sitting in plastic bags for over a week getting moldy, knowing my daughter is alergic to mold, waiting to go to the dry cleaners. Our clothes were ruined, and they wanted the dry cleaners to try to clean them until clean, or for free. They did do a good job helping us inventory our house after the fire, and the demolition after the fire, although they are overcharging us for the hours spent doing at the house. Our family chipped in and helped out a lot. We also kept tabs on when they were there, and flood pro is overcharging the time they were there. Basically they are overcharging us everywhere.

Flood pro overcharged us for many items, like dumster charges. Once we brought this up, they fixed it quietly, but if we wouldn't have brought it up, they would have over charged us. They charged us for 1052 square feet of temporary tarp hanging the day of the fire, when they actually hung 100 square feet of tarp. They also claim they did some board up the day of the fire, but we were there when the fire department did the board up after the fire was put out. Flood pro left off the carpet and soda blasting from our rebuild bid, potentialy lowering the amount we could spend on a buying a different house. Flood pro tried to charge us for two trucks to pack our contents out of our house, when it only took one truck to pack the contents out. I'm not sure if anyone else has been overcharged by flood pro, but it is possible. It is also possible that my wife and I snapped out of the shock of the fire before other people that have had fires did. Mabey some other of flood pro's customer's have been in the shock from the fire, and just blindly signed the checks and bills that flood pro sent there way. If that is true, that is a terrible way to make a living, by preying on people, trying to sneak overcharges by in the bills. All I can say is if this sight is for learning from someone else's experiences, I would shop around for a different company before I would hire flood pro.
Description of Work: We had a house fire on Saturday August 7th, 2010. Our insurance company called Flood Professionals to secure the house after the fire. Flood Pro hung tarps (100 sq ft) over 3 doors, 2 man doors, and a 1 one car garage door. On Tuesday, August 10th, flood pro's estimator showed up to work on the demolition bid, and on wednesday the 11th, the inventory girls showed up. The inventory girls were the only good thing I can say about flood professonals. They did the inventory well, and fairly smothly, and quickly. My wife and I helped, and we had other family members helping quiet a bit also, but the inventory girls provided guidance and they put in a lot of hours with us. We decided to have flood pro clean our contents that weren't destroyed by the fire, smoke, or water damage. It was stated by flood pro, and our insurance adjuster that if items DID NOT COME CLEAN, WE DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FLOOD PRO FOR CLEANING THEM. We(flood pro and me and my family) finished the inventory, and then packed out all the salvagable items. Flood pro had a building contracor come and put a rebuild bid in on our house. Then Flood pro did most of the demolition of the house, taking out all of the drywall, carpeting, and insulation. They were also thinking they should soda blast and seal all of the beams structure of the house, but in the mean time, my wife and my self descided that we would rather look for a different house to buy instead. We told them not to soda blast, and thats when things started to break down. We ended up going to get our contents on our own from their shop, and inspecting them with 2 of flood pro employees present at our temporary housing. We had 11 totes acceptable, and 41 totes still dirty. The flood pro employees agreed that the totes were not acceptable. They still sent us a bill for approximately $15000. We were trying to hash it out with their parent company Independent Mitigation and Cleaning/Conservation Network (IMACC), and the owner of flood pro told our insurance adjuster that everything was settled. Our adjuster sent flood pros a 3 party check, figuring that they couldn't cash it without my wife and my signing it. Well, flood pro's did cash it, and now we are trying to get back a large part of it for the items that did not come clean.

I thought it was strange. I have tried to call her and it has not been easy. The follow up and request for explanation was difficult.
Description of Work: She made an appointment with me in the morning and never came. Then she came out after work hours on another evening. She looked at everything and measured. She apparently has ten different branches in the area and has been in business for awhile. I asked her for a rough estimate off the top of her head. The oral estimate was one price and the written estimate was twice the amount.
