Description of Work: This went from hopeful to horrible. The ladies on the phone were like angels. The estimator, well, he came from somewhere else. We were looking for a partial garage roof job, and the front door needed fixing. First off, he was half an hour late. I called the office to find out why. They called to locate him, and called me back to let me know that Jared was stuck in traffic. When he did arrive, his demeanor was definitely 'off'. My impression was that he was either high, stoned, or had a bit to drink. Prescription drugs would be my best guess. Seriously, he didn't even introduce himself. Just plopped his computer, paperwork and brochures down and started rambling; asking about the front door and what was the problem. Said we needed a new one because it was a custom door and they don't make frames like this anymore. Then he took pictures and supposedly sent them to Martino for verification. There was nothing wrong with our door! The hinges were coming out of the frame, and it really needs some repair to hang properly again. Even if we did need an entire door with frame, I wouldn't trust this guy to wash my car. Then he started pulling out brochures for new doors, beginning at $800.oo and up. We didn't even get to the real problem of the garage roof. At that point, I told him to leave. My 100 year-old father (it's his house) with Dementia, was standing next to me the whole time. Jared's speech and demeanor were becoming more and more irritating, to say the least. He just kept on talking (slowly and not quite slurred, but close enough) as if no one else was there; like he was in another world. For some reason, thinking I was escorting him out of the house so that he would leave, the one-way conversation got re-focused on the actual garage roof. All he wanted to do was push Martino's credentials down our throats. The guy would not stop slur-talking! Jared gave us a couple of prices: half a roof wouldn't be warranteed, but the complete job would! What?!? I had to force him to climb up on a trailer to actually look at it!!! Let me tell you, this young man had TROUBLE raising his leg to do so. Then he walked into the back yard a distance, while he was on the phone, supposedly with Martino. He said that Martino definitely said we needed to replace the whole door. From his camera phone he deduced all of this??!!?? Time after time I kept asking him for a price. Lo and behold, today's price will be higher tomorrow! What?!? We're done. Get out. Get out. Good bye. After walking away from him in our driveway, Jared was still murmuring at us about "being drunk", "must be high", etc., etc., etc.. Wow. I got Dad into the house and infuriated, called Martino's. I explained EVERYTHING to this lady, who told me that she would tell Martino personally what happened. And that she would have him call me himself. And to please give them another chance. She said that this guy hadn't been with the company very long. Reluctantly, I said, "Okay" actually thinking that the owner would indeed call me to find out if this was true or not. Half an hour later, we discovered that Jared had left his computer and brochures and pamphlets in our living room. I called to leave a message with Martino's, as they already were closed. Unfortunately, dear Jared called us to see if he can get his things. I left them on the front porch for him. Well, it's been 13 days now, and STILL no word from this company. The best part of all is this: I've been meaning to join Angie's List for several years now, but never did. I finally joined because I am tired of being taken advantage of. So, I went with a company that was HIGHLY recommended by Angie's List, and this is what happened. I guess you never really know.
