College Hunks Hauling Junk & College Hunks Moving

The guys who came out were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we had a miscommunication error about which furniture was to be protected during the move resulting in our $6000 bedroom set being damaged. While attempting to discuss this with Milwaukee franchise owner Justin, we were consistently spoken over, told that it didn’t matter what was said if the paperwork we signed didn’t reflect it (legally true, very poor customer service), told we had gotten the movers fired due to our issue, and eventually hung up on. He did offer to refund travel charge which was appreciated, but the conversation we had with him was one of the most insane and unprofessional interactions I’ve had. I would strongly recommend avoiding the Milwaukee/West Allis college hunks franchise.

Use the Macomb County location if you do not care at all about your walls. I just had my walls painted. The crew neglected to use padding to protect the walk ways. The crew neglected to lift the couch over the half wall and smashed it through, causing damage in 5 areas. The company tried to rectify by sending a repair vendor, who made it worse. I had to pay my own contractor to fix the damage and repaint. The kicker was on the day of (don't book them for a Sunday) the company tried to come early, several times. I wasn't available. Then at the scheduled time, the crew got held up. I was told a different crew would be on the way. I had a bad feeling, and communicated that I would prefer to wait for the initial crew scheduled. The secondary crew arrived and was not even the crew for junk removal. I asked the company to pay for the repair and was declined. This company must pay to remove bad reviews from google. NOT 5 stars. Before & after pictures & walk way used attached.

When truck first arrived, there was junk in truck from another customer. Once the truck was full they headed out to dump the junk. However, I found out they had to take it to Grand Blanc (50 miles away) to dump the load. I love in Livonia. They arrived back and filled the truck with "almost" all of the remaining junk. If the truck were empty when they first arrived, everything could have been removed with 2 loads. I also hired them for moving. They did only "ok" in that department but because of my experience with the junk removal part of business, I would not recommend them for either moving or junk removal.

I spent 15 minutes on the phone with their "sales person" who refused to give me a quote over the phone. They sent a crew out which wasted an hour of their time. The crew had to call their manager for a quote which was $175!!!!! That's their minimum price no matter the size of the load. They could save their time and mine by just stating that up front!!!! DON'T USE THEM FOR SMALL LOADS

Perfect! On time, great guys, couldn't have been nicer and very professional. Have another "phase" almost ready to go.

I arranged the appointment on Tuesday December 5 via the toll free number advertised. The young lady to whom I spoke offered me several several service times/windows available in my area, explained the pricing procedures (the price is dependent upon the amount of truck space used), and booked my appointment. Tonight—the evening prior to the appointment—I received a call from the local representative explaining that they would be out tomorrow morning to give me a price estimate. Somewhat taken aback, I informed the gentleman that I was already familiar with the pricing guidelines, since the phone representative had explained the guidelines quite thoroughly, in addition to emailing me the guidelines with my confirmation. After a pregnant silence, the gentleman stated that they would not be moving anything while at my residence, since they will be “really busy tomorrow.” But they would come by to give me an estimate!? Shocked, I assured him that I knew how their pricing works. Additionally, I informed him that I had taken a half day off work for the agreed upon appointment. I asked, “So, are you going to remove the items?” To which he replied, “No, your area is a bit outside our normal area (I am in Ypsilanti,MI), and we are really busy tomorrow, but we can give you a quote.” What does that even mean: outside our are, BUT I can give you a quote? Annoyed, I called the original number, only to discover that the local group is a franchise. Additionally, I was assured that the typical practice is to remove the items on the first—and only—visit. Needless to say, I lost a half-day’s wages, so a person could quote me a price I already had (ironic: I bet the quote would be less than having to lose another day of work!). For what it’s worth, the phone reps were wonderful; it’s sad that the local franchise negated their hard work. All that advertising to attract my business was for naught.

The two young men were very professional and did the job in a timely manor. I wish there was a senior discount offered.

I would expect this company to read this and instruct all its sales people to lie to its customers or maybe even fire the truthful salesperson, but just maybe it may make them think about being an honest company and hire only college students. That is simply how they started and what they imply.

I called to make an appointment to remove a 7 person hottub from my garage. They did arrive on time, however there were only two gentleman who arrived and they were unable to put the hottub in the truck they brought. At one point, they lifted it up, but was unable to get it over the door of the truck and dropped it in the middle of my driveway causing it to break in many pieces all over. They then told me they had to go pick up another load but would be back with more crew. This left me trapped in my driveway for over an hour. I had to cancel an appointment for a massage. They did return and with the extra crew were able to get it into the truck. I then asked for them to take the wooden platform and I was told they would charge me $80. I asked if there was anyway that it could be reduced due to my inconvenience and one of the men stated "this wasn't an inconvenience. Most places don't take hot tubs". This made me very angry and I explained it was an inconvenience to me due to having to cancel an appointment. I told them to forget about the platform and then asked if they could help me clean up the debris from when they dropped the hottub. They two original gentleman did not help, but the extra crew did. I did call the office twice to lodge a complaint and I was told a supervisor would call me back, but no one did.

The company quoted the move and scheduled the pickup quickly. The hunks arrived on time. Dallas and Ray were very professional. Handled the items with extreme care, took the glass out of items and wrapped to protect. They placed the items with no problems. They charged the amount quoted....no hidden costs or extra charges. Less expensive than 2 men and a truck. I would recommend the hunks and will use them for future moves.

2 young men, very professional, went in there and cleared everything I asked them to remove. Very pleased with the job. Done in no time.

What a stellar experience! From the moment they answered my phone call this was a pleasant, friendly, professional, on-the-ball experience. They were very easy to reach, and the gal on the phone was good-humored and professional and knowledgeable. We just moved into a new house, and had changed our minds about how we were using two rooms, so we arranged for the College Hunks (and yes, both of our hunks are in college!) to switch the furniture between the two rooms. We also needed a few pieces of furniture moved to the basement, and some things moved to the garage. Finally, we needed many, many boxes full of paper (from the move) hauled away. The hunks (Connor and Noah) were right on time, very sharp, and very nice to deal with. They were very flexible, understood exactly what I wanted and how to do it, and were very understanding when I changed my mind a time or two about where I wanted things. They also were amazing at figuring out how to get large, awkward furniture in and out of rooms with narrow doorways and halls. They did everything I asked, made sure there wasn't anything else they could do (it didn't take the full two hours), and were just so good-natured and sharp, that it was a pleasant experience. I'd hire them again in a second. Professional, knowledgeable, hard-working, and friendly and fun--it doesn't get any better! Five stars for Connor and Noah and the whole team!

They called on their way and arrived on time. They were pleasant, polite, strong and efficient. We could not ask for more. If the need arises again, we would not hesitate to call.

Every now and then you use a service that you can recommend highly. Such is our experience with College Hunks Moving & Hauling! They were handed a VERY difficult assignment to navigate our new 1100 lb smoker up deck stairs and onto our wood deck. Up went the smoker step by step, with these guys planning every move (they are college students after all). It was a serious challenge and they were very considerate and hard working. As an added bonus, they took the wood crate away for us. The price was very reasonable. We would absolutely do business with College Hunks again and we highly recommend using them. Overall excellent experience.

They were on time, courteous, energetic, careful and completed the job as requested. What more could you ask for?

The initial contact and their arrival went well. They gave an estimate of the job at that time to which I agreed. They successfully removed the televisions and refridgerator. However, with the couch they had a great deal of problems. Although smaller than the refridgerator, they managed to scrape the paint off 2 walls and rip the handrail from the wall. They apologized and said someone would call me about the damages. If I did not get a call, I could call their supervisor. I did not get a call. I called the supervisor. He was apologetic and said he had not heard of any damages. I offered to send photos of the damage to which he agreed and provided me with his email address. Since that contact, I have not heard anything. I have tried calling and emailing but with no response.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again. The men that I talked to on the phone to schedule and confirm the appointment as well as settle on a price (I believe their names were Dan and Dave) were very courteous. Matthew and Tommy came at the appointed time and were very nice to us. The sofa that I wanted to remove proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. It had to be taken apart in pieces before they could get it out the door. However, they had the appropriate tools and took care of the job expertly. I can sum the experience up by saying that everyone I dealt with at this company were extremely polite and efficient and I will definitely call them in the future when we need help with hauling stuff away.

I loved them! They are very nice people, very helpful, and did the job efficiently. They were very pleasant to work with. Overall it was a nice experience.

The movers were great. There were a couple issues with our furniture (our fault) that they brought to our attention right away and i appreciated. We were a little frustrated because they called twenty minutes before they were supposed to arrive to postpone their arrival a few hours. Since we had only a small window that we could be in the house, this was not okay. It took a few minutes to clear this up. Again, frustrating but not a deal breaker. Once they arrived they were kind, quick and careful.

The move went smooth, quickly and very professional. The young men were very nice. I would use them again (in fact I had them remove "junk" a few years ago). Had an issue getting the estimate / pick up established and applying the senior discount. Had to call 4 times to finally get the pick up scheduled. The local number roles over to a nation wide phone center. A day and time was agreed upon with a prior arrival phone call. No call and no show. I then called and after waiting about 10 mins. (I was #2 on wait) agreed to a call back. That did not happen. Called about 1 hour later and now I was #3. Waited 15 mins. and spoke to someone. I was told there was a "system" problem. Got it set up that I would receive a call the next business day from the local agent (it was 7:30 PM). Waited until 11:00 Am the following day and then I called back. They had no record of me. Finally found out they had my first name as Dill and not Bill. The local agent called about 1 hour later. Said they left me a message yesterday. I had no messages. They came within 45 mins. I requested the $20 senior discount which is listed on their Angie's List site and they said there was no senior discount. I printed out the Angie's List page for their business showing the discount which they then honored.

We are in the process of moving our belongings to our Tennessee retirement home. I engaged College Hunks to move my wood shop equipment from my basement into the garage and then load them into a Penske truck I rented to move the equipment to Tennessee. Rob & Dylan from College Hunks did an outstanding job in carefully bringing the work shop equipment up from the basement. They moved everything from the basement and filled a 22 foot Penske truck, all within 2.5 hours. We were very happy with their efforts.

Workers were great and very quick?it was only 3-4 items. However, the cost was ridiculous for what was removed and taken to the dump. Will not reuse solely based on price. WIll shop around for alternative.

They arrived very late as the scheduling person gave them the wrong phone number. I had been frantically trying to reach someone to find out where they were for almost an hour when they finally arrived. Then the cost was almost double the quote I received on the phone when I had been exact as to what needed to be moved. I had no choice but to pay for it as the house was sold and I had to be out of it. The young men who arrived were professional and knew what they were doing regarding moving furniture. He explained that the scheduler should not have quoted a cost and then gave me the much higher quote. I would not use this company again.
