 + -1 moreWhen we purchased our home our lawn was in horrible condition. After a few treatments out lawn is flourishing. The backyard was half clovers. It is now 3/4 lawn with very few weeds. We plan on having a seeding done in the near future.

 + 1 moreThis company sprayed six of my very large dwarf alberta shrubs with dormant oil for spider mites on november 13, 2013. When the spring broke in I found that all of my sprubs had been burned. They said they were going to give my schrubs a deep root feeding to strengthen them, but never did. Instead they dropped me as a client and refused to take care of the burned scrubs. I called the department of agriculture and they did an investigation on this company. Scott said it was a combination of the solution they used and the whether. I am sending a few pictures of the shrubs so that you can get an idea of what this companies products has done to my shrubs. This is a horrible company, not only for the kind of products they use, but their refusual to take care of property they damage. They will simply drop you. I told scott I was going to post these pictures and give them a bad review. He said he really did not care and was not worried about it. I do not know how a company like this can even be in business. Very very bad business dealings. I would never evr recommend this company to anyone! They damage your property and take off running. They do not even have the common curtesty to rectify a situation. When I threatend to take him to court, he said he was not worried about it because he used the chemical according to the instruction. Look at my schrubs and judge for yourself. Other neighbors on my block have dwarf albertas and their shrubs were not even bothered by the winter. I would never again allow this company on my property!!
Description of Work: This is a horrible company that damages your property and does not stand by it. They burned all my scrubs than dropped me and refused to service me or take care of the schrubs.

 + 0 moreI have a contract with them so they give me a prepaid discount and a senior citizen discount. It is a very competitive price before the discounts. I have also used them for shrub care on an emergency basis. They have also done lawn airation and they did a good job and watched for my irrigation system. I've also used them for grub treatment. They did a good job with that. I am very satisfied with them. They even set up with that they will call me 2 days in advance before coming. This is a bad area for crab grass and dandelions and if I see any and call them they come right out with no extra charge. They leave a written report at the door each time, what the condition of the lawn, what any problems might be, what they are doing to fix it, anything I should watch out for like watering or mowing.

Every time I have contacted company. They said they would take care of it .. Problem with communication between national and local. Local wants to blame service man.  + -1 moreHe provided me with a basic price for their annual "weed & feed" lawn program. That might have been helpful to the average homeowner, but I was interested in repairing/replanting the lawn immediately, with the intention of selling the property within a couple of months. So his year-long process of gradual improvement was not what I wanted. The option of tilling up the soil and replanting with seed that was suitable for dense-shade did not seem to be in his toolbox. So I did not take him up on his offer.
Description of Work: It was proposed for him to fix the lawn area, which had become overgrown with moss and weeds due to insufficient sunlight and insufficient care.

 + -1 moreIn March of 2013, I fell prey to a nice salesman and paid them in advance a little more than $700 and some dollars for lawn and tree. The salesman said he was looking at my lawn on Google Earth or some such and that would cover everything for a whole year. And they would be out soon. Turns out he had flipped the Zip Code numbers and they were trying to go out to a non-existing address far away. I called many times and tried to explain the problem, and each time it was to a very nice person in a far away place from MI. Florida, Dallas, New Mexico, Seattle, on and on. The very nice people on the phone always understood and said someone would be out to the correct place. Finally, after no one ever came or called me , several months later, I think June 2013, I called and said cancel me and return my money. One man finally did that, but then I would come home and there would be a bill and a little flag on the front lawn. No one knew how to get in the back yard, because I couldn't get anyone local to talk to. I cancelled more than 3 times with people far away, but little flags and bills kept showing up. Finally, a nice person far away said she would correct this.
Description of Work: They say they came several times, but I never saw them ever once.

When I contacted them they say our technician will be there soon. All my neighbors use King green and all their lawn looks good. I guess I learned my lesson.

 + 0 moreI had some older trees in my yard and I wanted them inspected and get a risk assessment on them. I had the impression than an arborist would be out and provide that information for me, and the person who came out only fertilized the trees and didn't know anything about risk assessments. I felt mislead and that they were just trying to up sell me from the beginning. They did make it right in the end by issuing me a refund, but I wish they were more honest upfront.

 + -1 moreWe started with TruGreen in 2012 and had the best lawn in our neighborhood of people that regularly have their lawns serviced by lawn companies. Their price was competitive and I can only say that this year we had guests with 2 large dogs, so the lawn suffered a bit due to the dogs doing their business on the front lawn. Otherwise prior to that I would say that our lawn would have been the best this year also---but the season is not over yet. They have done an excellent job with weed control, everything. Nice to have a great company that does such a great job. !!!!Thank you Tru Green of Taylor.

Their customer service has always been good, and they leave detailed, handwritten notes on everything they have done. They always leave a sign reminding me to stay off the grass for a while.

 + 0 moreIt is monday and hope someone calls me. they must not need business or dont want to fulfill there promise to charge the same as the other company.
Description of Work: tru green purchased the previous company that did my lawn. last fall i was asked if i would like to continue with tru green and i said yes . they said it would be the same price. It now is the middle of may and no one has showed up, even though I have spoke to them many times. the lawn is now full of dandilions and violets and I am still waiting. The last conversation was that when I called to cancel they said that someone would contact me this week so they could come over and do my lawn for FREE. well lets see if they show up. Well guess what they promised for friday and when i called friday they said they did not do my area on that day of the week. OK then I got a call from the area manager saying the yard would be donethat week. Sorry I cannot tell you how it ended because on the 22nd I left town.until the 4th. No phone call no contact at all.

 + -1 moreI singed up with TrueGreen last spring and my lawn developed a lot of fescue. I called TrueGreen in March to figure out a plan to deal with the fescue. I called multiple times with not call back. The local office does not have anyone to answer the phones so all calls go to a call centers across the country. Finally got a call in May, and they decided to reseed my lawn. After watering lawn for 2 weeks a technician came out and put crab grass preventer down. So much for my new grass germinating. There was no communication between TrueGreen employees. Also, I was promised a beautiful lawn and great customer service when I signed up for this service. Neither or those things happened.

 + -1 moreI called their national number and they sent the local people to my home. This was the first time that I used them. They charged $181 for five applications. It has been two applications so far. I called them again to make some correction and they came right away but they did not charge anything for it. They were very responsive and professional; they took a lot of time on the phone with me. I was really impressed with information I received and they were quick to respond. I could get it a little cheaper but not too much.

 + -1 moreHad Scotts for two years. The first year was great. At the end of the first year I asked that they not start service until mid-May of the next year. The person who I spoke with said that info was entered into my record and would be followed for the next year. I was shocked to see a Scotts' man in mid-March of the next year putting fertilizer on my frozen lawn. I called the company to complain and talked with a man who said nothing in my record stated my previous request and that the mid-March treatment was a good thing even though the ground was frozen and it snowed that day. I told him I would stay with Scotts if he would ensure my next treatment would not be until mid-May. He said o.k. and agreed it was fair that the next treatment would not be charged back to me. However, in mid-April on a very rainy day a Scotts person put a liquid treatment on my lawn I asked him to stop and I cancelled my service with Scotts. The person who took my cancellation was impolite and seemed to care less whether I was satisfied. Bad experience all around.

 + -1 moreWe hired Scotts LawnService Sterling Heights at the end of last summer after having a member of their team come out and evaluate the lawn. We decided to hire them again this year because they are professional, easy to work with, and flexible. We chose to only have four treatments done this year and they easily adjusted the total price and even applied the same discount we received last year. I've spoken on the phone with Alison and she is very friendly and a pleasure to work with. Each treatment is right around $32 and we can definitely see an improvement in our lawn. I feel confident in their quality of work/product and the overall value.

 + -1 moreRecommended by my mom, but was a different branch. Started in the middle of the summer and we did see our lawn improve. But did not perform the final application (they claim they did--did not leave the receipt or the card in the lawn). I called to get my receipt which they always left prior to that and they said they would send it. They never did although I called several times. Never found out why they didn't send it and got tired of calling for verification so I switched services the following year. They did keep calling me to find out why I didn't want services and I did explain the reason.

 + 1 moreTruGreen's services are fine. Do not try to do something outside of their restrictive business model. For example, a company representative may agree to take action on the customer's behalf. The rest of TruGren operates in a vacuum or independent of the customer/company interaction. The next thing you know, TruGreen is calling about the very problem that you, the customer, understood to be handled.
Description of Work: I experienced many services related problems with TruGreen which were finally rectified once I contacted their president to complain and to articulate the reasons for my discontent with the company. The service people finally responded to my satisfaction once the problems were understood by TruGreen top management after too many months of covering redundant issues. I thought that everything was on an even keel and I was pleased with TruGreen's response. I explained to the company that I needed more time to pay my final bill for the 2012 season. TruGreen agreed and then internally ignored my request and closed my account when I tried to pay the company in full. Granted I was late with my payment, but I covered this with the company in advance. I paid my bill in full, but TruGreen sent my account to collection. The dunning from a bill collector continued for 90 days until today when I confirmed that the bill had been paid in full in January, 21013. Their billing records are never accurate with the solution to turn to collection which further alienates customers. TruGreen is a typical big company that performs well in what they do, namely render lawn related services. The billing department and customer services departments are not aligned with sales and certainly not in full communication and cooperation with the customer. As I stated above, the services are good, the company representatives are fine people. The internal communications within TruGreen is destroying the good will created by the customer contact people. I will never use TruGreen again because too much time is expended on follow up by the customer to fix the account. Their business model is " churn and burn. It must be very expensive to acquire new customers and to keep existing ones in the fold. I would have been happy to stay with TruGreen if not for service problems that compounded over time. Even after the initial problems were addressed, something new would arise and TruGreen would demand payment for services that were already paid. The company simply does not listen consistently to their customers.

 + -1 moreWe decided to go with Trugreen (the Danbury, CT branch) because their rep was honest about what could be achieved over the course of the season. Our lawn was in very rough shape after poor care by the previous owner and salesmen from other companies promised the moon but couldn't give specifics when asked; they were clearly just in sales while the Trugreen rep had hands-on experience in lawn care and knew his stuff. The workers gave good advice about how to maintain the lawn between their visits to maximise the benefits of the work they'd done. The end result was that the state of our lawn improved significantly over the 2012 season and we'll be using them again this year.
