Description of Work: Had to replace a trap in my laundry room. Cleared out roots from the drain outside the house. Made other recommendations. At one time, I have five men working. They cleaned and the next day one came back and installed a new laundry tub.

Description of Work: Replaced sewer line. Initial estimate was lowered to honor 10% Angie's List coupon, and initial inspection fee was waived due to high expense of repair. Still, the cost was very high for the 95-year-old homeowner living off of S.S., savings, and CDs @ less than 1% interest. The concrete sidewalk has yet to be replaced in the spring to accommodate settling in fall at which time, upon satisfactory completion, the contract will be fulfilled.

Description of Work: Had a scheduled appointment for Sunday between 8am and 12. At 12:30 we called, were told we were next on the list. At 1:30 we called, were told we were next on the list. At 2:30 we called, were told we were next on the list. At 3:00 we called to cancel and were told he was almost done with his first job and could they reschedule for the next day. Why? So we can wait all day again? | |We know service work is service work and situations happen that may delay the schedule. But the fact that we had to call for status updates 3 times and spent an entire day waiting for service, which could have been used doing other things was beyond frustrating. The worst part, was the receptionist, while very nice, was so un-phased by the whole situation, it's fair to assume they overbook often which leads to a lot of rescheduled appointments. | |We called another company and they had someone out the next day who arrived an hour into the window, and cost less.

Description of Work: They cleared the line between tub and inside cleanout by pulling the toliet out on aprox 12-23. Then the service.provider pushed to also clean the outside line even though I told him several times it was an orangeburg line and not a standard line. He worked on it without flushing with water which has never been done by any plumber. The next day it backed up into the outside cleanout. I recalled them under the warranty a few days latter when it was still backing up and would not clear. He insisted it was pulling up dirt and needed a camera, still did not use water to flush the line wile he was working. It again backed up the next day, but he has told us the guarantee was only good for one return visit even when I pointed out that it should really be a continuation of the first visit since it had not gone 24 hours without backing up. I hired another company who is used to servicing older lines. They used the proper size equipment and it is now working just fine, and the cost was less than half, done properly and flushed. |

Dennis always arrived when promised, planned the job carefully and when it was completed, left everything immaculate. Have always been very pleased with this Roto Rooters work and don't hesitate to call them when I need a plumber.
Description of Work: Installed new sump pump and repiped system to front of house and out into ditch to bring it up to code.

 + -1 moreWater had backed up through drains in the floor on Sunday morning. I scheduled the appointment for that day. The tech came pretty late, apparently due to calls that took longer than expected earlier in the day. I led him to the clean out and he got to work. It took a couple hours, staying even after 5pm, due to the severity of the root problem with in the drains. He was able to get them cleaned out and went through their standard charges and gave me a bottle of drain cleaner.

 + -1 moreCharlie visited our home in Dearborn Heights on March 24 to provide an estimate. We were leaving town that morning and he showed up promptly to give us an estimate. Charlie was very professional and quickly was able 1. to review the issues we had in the basement with the draining from the basin and washing machine. 2. assess leaks in our basement bathroom faucets and check status of the toilet. 3. assess status of our upstairs bathroom including the tub, sink, and toilet. 4. review our concerns with regard to the draining from the dishwasher and garbage disposal. We have a friend who agreed to meet Charlie in the next two weeks at our home as we were out of town. Charlie agreed to do the work on a Thursday (March 27), again on a Sunday (March 30), and the following Sunday (April 6) as that was the most convenient days for our friend to meet Charlie. Our friend really liked the professionalism demonstrated by Charlie including doing the work he agreed to do, pointing out other potential issues we may have with washing machine set ups and our dryer, replacing our basement basin including routing the drainage from our washing machine and the condensation pipe from the A/C to the basin, and replacing our garbage disposal while fixing the drainage leak from our dishwasher. Charlie showed up at our home at all the agreed times, did good work, and made recommendations so as to improve the overall condition of our plumbing at our home while insuring we did not spend more than we needed to spend. We have used Roto Rooter for over a decade primarily due to reliability and the professionalism of people such as Charlie.
Description of Work: 1. Fixed the drain to the wash tub and washer in the basement. 2. Replaced the double basin in the basement, updated the fittings, and rerouted the drain the washer. 3. Rebuilt the toilet upstairs. 4. Fixed the leak on the faucets in the basement. 5. Replaced the garbage disposal. 6. Fixed the drainage from the dishwasher.

When I indicated that I did not want to have them do the work due to the high price, the manager called me back and quoted mem HALF of what they had originally quoted. When I asked for this in writing, the manager never called me back. I also asked to speak to the owner and they said that I could not do that and could only talk to the supervisor. I do not trust them due to the difference between initial quote price and the second offer.

Description of Work: Water Closets were not working, and backed up into bath tube in back of house. Tech spend a lot of time trying to cable the pipes but was unable to break thru the clog. Went outside to look under craw space. Found that drain pipe was close to outside wall and opened traps and found that they were frozen. Because of lateness of the day and the need for pipe he had to come back the following day. He came back the following morning, cut and replaced the need pipe and completed the outside work. He came inside tested all the toilets and drains and all worked well. The tech Dana K was very efficient, knowledgeable, polite and friendly. As far as the cost goes I don't anyone wants to spend that much money for repairs, but it seemed fair for the work done.

 + 0 moreHad a sewer back up into the basement at 3:30 in the afternoon; we called Roto-Rooter and they made it to the house by 5:30 that afternoon. Jeremy was courteous and efficient. He recommended I get a water scrub done after seeing the amount of roots he pulled out to get the drain to run free. No high pressure just a recommendation and he went on his way. Drain was running free hours after I called, great job. I decided to get the water scrub done even though it is a rather expensive job and was I ever happy I did. I called at 10:30 AM and the tech Pat showed up in two hours. I stood by his shoulder and watched the video monitor to see what he went thru to get the drain cleaned out. What a mess of tree roots he cleaned out, There was a full 30 plus feet of roots at every pipe joint; some were almost totally clogging the drain. Had I not gotten the water scrub I would be paying for another clean out every couple months and possibly a total drain replacement. I highly recommend Roto-Rooter.

 + 0 moreThey came out when they said they would. They guaranteed their work for 6 months and there was a problem again and they did come out promptly and fix the issues the second time. They were easy to work with and I would definitely use them again. We called other plumbers and most people were going to charge extra for a Saturday visit but they didn't change anything additional as they work 7 days a week. I also live an hour away from their location and they traveled all that way for the service call.

They did the work and they explained. I just called them once, they came out they told me what was some of the underlying problems and if I wanted to spend a lot more money they could rebuild the sewer, but that was fine.

Description of Work: Sure wish I had consulted this list before I hired Roto Rooter.They were late for 1 out of 3 visits inconvincing me terribly. No price quotes on phone. When I asked about coupons I was told, "Oh, I already included them." Easy to say when you don't know original price. The practice that was just plain unaccetable was the $45.00 house call charge IN ADDITION TO THE $1,00.00 charge for work. When I called to question the charge, I was told it was for gas. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF CALLING THESE PEOPLE
