We had freezing temperatures and my heater system wasn't working anymore. Tooter MD was able to squeeze me in and come out the next morning. Diagnosis, getting the part (bearing assembly and related), and repair took about 3 hours. The technician was experienced and explained everything along the way. I can't say anything about the pricing. In such a situation, the price is what s being quoted. The technician was up-front about diagnosis cost and later total repair cost.
Description of Work: Repaired non-functioning heating system (gas, baseboard).

The first two jobs went fine and were performed well, including friendly technicians and quality work and reasonably priced. In fact, all of the technicians were professional, and I do not blame the third technician for the highway robbery estimate I received today. However, because of the unscrupulous behavior of this company regarding the third job I only received an estimate for I can't in good conscience leave an overall positive review. Since I paid them $59 for this ridiculous estimate I feel fully justified in knocking their review way down. Paying $59 to have a company try to take advantage of me is just insulting. Bottom line: To sweat on 2 shut off valves they wanted $700. And they wanted $1400 if I wanted the outdoor water spigots done too (ha!). I looked at the technician and said "are you joking?" I've had enough plumbing work done to know that the two valves sweats are about 1 to 1.5 hours of labor and maybe $30-$50 in material costs. I'd expect to pay between $150-$250. I've had plumbing work done in my own home and rental home plenty of times. I had 4 valves, 2 mini resters, and a laundry tub installed by a licensed master plumber for $200 not too long ago. After refusing this ridiculous estimate by RooterMD I got estimates from licensed plumbers in my area, the highest coming in at $265 for both valves. Ultimately, I just did ended up doing it myself. The valves were $15 each (lead free and made in the USA.) Took me 2 hours. What really bothers me, and I think anybody having dealt with plumbers before will see, is just how outrageous of an estimate this is. How badly this would be taking advantage of somebody that didn't know any better cannot be overemphasized. This is absolute highway robbery. Walk, don't run, away from these guys. This basically amounts to about $50 in material costs and almost $650 an hour. I was very irritated that I paid somebody $59 to come basically offer me a scam (not the technician, mind you) but the price setter at the company. So, I called and talked to the service manager Rob. He gave me a big song and dance about how they have fully stocked trucks, and training, fuel costs, and overhead costs. How local plumbers driving around in a van (who are usually master plumbers by the way) can't offer what they offer. His attitude was apparently letting me in on "how business works". However, I own my second business now and I'm quite familiar with how business works. What exactly do you offer RooterMD? Are you saying that you sweat pipes so much better than the average local plumber that it warrants charging almost 4 times the cost? If you can't "manage your overhead" and offer competitive pricing you need to get back to the business books. Nobody should be paying $700 to sweat 2 valves on and nobody should be giving that estimate out and be able to sleep at night. And, how business works is, if you cannot offer a service at a reasonable cost, in this case at a "scam cost" then nobody should be doing business with you. That's why I wrote this review. All future customers watch out, this sort of pricing is completely out of line with what your completely qualified local master plumber would ever charge you for a basic plumbing charge. I highly suggest you call a local guy that's been in business for 20-30 years as as far as RooterMD goes, look elsewhere. I can't do business with a company that tries to take advantage of people. $700 to sweat two valves. $1400 to add two outside spigots. Come on, get real!
Description of Work: I've "experienced" this company 3 times. The first was for identifying the cause of a leak (cost around $200) and they did a good job. The second was to snake my basement drain (cost around $200). Both of these jobs were performed satisfactorily. However, the estimate for the third job, which was to have them install two shut off valves, was an absolute insult.

They responded quickly and the next day Jason Pumford came out. He did the work quickly and cleared the drain and then offered to do a whole house inspection for free. I said sure! He then said he found a leak in the bathroom sink. He quoted me over $700 for parts and labor, installing a new pea trap and strainer assembly. I thought this sounded like a lot and he then said he would replace both parts for the price of one and that this would save me $200. I thought it sounded fishy and have decided I will not be using them again. I was told by others that the price he quoted was terribly inflated and I feel like I was being scammed.
Description of Work: He came and worked on a floor drain in the basement that was burping.

The following day they sent out a camera crew, as promised. He called us downstairs & said that we had "issues" at 70 feet. I told him that they only cleaned up to 60 feet. He told me that was as far as they could go as the equipment doesn't do well any further than that, but the camera could. I asked how it would cost for the hydro-jetting & he told me it was over $400.00 an hour with a minimum of 2 hours required. And if we went over 2 hours, it would be another $400.00. I thought that was pretty pricey & we still are not sure what the "issues" are.
Description of Work: We had never had the main drain cleaned so we thought it was time to have it checked out as routine maintenance. He cleaned the main drain & said he had reached 60 feet & everything looked good. No problems.

I'm sorry if the camera technician was not clear in describing this issues that are seen in your sewer. The invoice that he left stated that you had significant calcite buildup in your sewer with a low spot that was causing your sewer to hold water. The Calcite buildup can be cleaned with our jetting process, but is not able to be mitigated with the cableing you recieved prior to the camera inspection. Unfortunately, unless you address these issues you will back up again. Thank you for using Rooter MD Plumbing and Heating.

My basement toilet had never worked properly - constantly backing up and eventually unusable. I had two plumbers look at it and each the tile floor and probably the drywall would need to be taken out to get at the blockage. I then read about water-jetting and contacted Rooter MD to see if that would be an option. Rooter MD quoted me a price for the evaluation. Brian arrived on time and removed the toilet and said water jetting would not work. I felt Brian gave an honest professional opinion. I was a little taken aback, however, when he charged me an additional $250 to remove the toilet as the office staff didn't mention that when I explained the situation to them and got a quote for the evaluation. However, that issue later worked itself out and Brian made sure I went on line to get a discount coupon. Brian then prepared an estimate for the repair. About a week later I decided to move forward with the project and called Rooter MD at which time they said they would work up a formal, written quote and send it to me. It was reasonable for the amount of work at hand. I was nervous and aware that the cost might rise depending upon what they would discover once they started the job. Kevin and Jason arrived at the pre-arranged day and time. Bottom line - Kevin only had to remove one 12 inch square piece of tile under the toilet. He was then able to dig down and, with surgeon precision, cut and remove the blocked section of pipe. Turns out the blockage was cement from when the house was originally built - the contactor had broke the pipe when the basement was backfilled. Kevin and Jason then replaced the pipe, put a camera down to make sure there were no other blockages, put pea gravel in and then brought the new cement level with the subfloor so all we had to do is replace the tile. The dust, dirt and chaos I imagined did not occur. Three days later Kevin came back to set the toilet. I could not be happier. I think it was a fair price for the work. I wish I had done this sooner. All of the technicians were courteous and professional. Kevin is a master.

I have used them before. I would give them completely topline. They're excellent. They're just top of the line. They came and fixed it. They did it completely and utterly on top of things. There were two things that needed attention. I cannot give them high enough grades. They were prompt. The workmanship is just from a master mechanic. They were right on top of things.

They were wonderful! When seeking someone who installed tankless systems, I contacted 5 providers. One replied that they didn't install the tankless system, three didn't reply at all even though I said in the message that time was a factor. RooterMD replied to my contact quickly, the representative came to the house the next day, and the installation took place three days later! Just what I wanted. Wish the price was a little lower, but you pay for what you get, and I got exactly what I wanted!!! Thank You!!!

I contacted them for a second opinion regarding installation of a gas line for a fireplace insert and also to investigate a vibration that seemed to be coming from water pipes. The secretary told me that she would send out an "engineer" who would be able to troubleshoot. On the day of the appointment, I was told that someone else would be coming out. He had a significant hearing impairment, and it was impossible to evaluate the sound. He looked around briefly at the gas lines in the basement, and without lifting the ceiling panels or doing any measurements, he told me that their cost for installing the lines would be much higher than my previous estimate. Since he was at my home anyway, I asked him to check out a shower head, which he cleaned out. The total cost was $199, for which I received minimal services and my primary concerns were not addressed.

Having a party at 2pm, discovered sewage backing up in basement shower with every toilet flush at 11am! I called and luckily a technician was on-call and finishing a job 15 minutes away from our house. He was at our house within 40 minutes and able to assess the problem, snake the drain, and clean up in about an hour. He was professional and friendly. We were so thankful to have the problem fixed before any guests arrived. I had called two other 24/7 plumbers who could not make it to us in time, so I'm very pleased at the quick turnaround with RooterMD. The price seems a bit high ($313 with a $25 discount for being an Angie's List member); however, I realize we were paying overtime charges because it's the weekend and we needed service right away. Upon leaving the technician mentioned their "Preferred Partner" program where you pay $120/year for a furnace, A/C/, and plumbing inspection, get 10% off labor, and don't pay overtime fees in case of emergency calls. We just may sign up for this since we are new to this house and don't know when the last inspections were.

I assure you we are not trying to scam people. Our prices are competitive with similar companies in the area with the same level of service, licensing and warranties. We stand behind our work and go above and beyond to satisfy the customer. Many services we provide can be completed by another company for a lesser price without the guarantees, service or warranties. Additionally, we have been in business for 33 years and plan to be here for many more. I appreciate your feedback and hope we can provide you service in the future.

Originally I wanted to go with Rooter MD for the work on our main sewer line. They were professional from the original phone call to the gentleman that came out an gave us an estimate. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and took the time and effort to give us as much information as possible about our situation and how to fix it. He told me right off the bat that their company would be more expensive, which I appreciated considering that cost is a HUGE factor in our decision. Ultimately he gave me some great tips of what I should look for with the other companies and how to make the most informed decision. Had they not been more then twice the cost of the company that I ultimately hired, I may have used them for the job. House trap removal was approx $3,400 Excavation approx $5,600 Lining approx: $7,500 They were extremely professional and knowledgeable, just way out of my price range.

The estimate was excessively high, and I had been assured that I would not be charged a fee for coming out. I was charged anyway, even with the coupon I thought I had that would cover me. This is in addition to a previous run-in with them I had in which they bold-face lied to me about needing to do thousands of dollars in pipe replacement. Additionally, the service man that came out was drenched in cologne which made a headache I already have absolutely overpowering. Why do they not instruct their technicians to leave the cheap cologne at home? I shouldn't have waves of nausea overtake me when letting someone into my home. I will not be using this shyster company again. $59 to come out because of "gas"? You have got to be kidding me.

Camera person came out on Friday and went through cleanout, about 6ft-8" in we discovered tree roots. He made a DVD recording of the entire length to the main sewer. I could see that the person that came out 3 days earlier used a small auger and the tree roots were not gone sufficiently. Camera person went to his truck to complete an estimate for repair. After about 20 minutes he came back and told me the options. First option: install a liner approx. 15 ft. cost of over $5,000.00 or go all the way to the main sewer for about $7,000.00. 2nd. option water jet line to remove tree roots. Cost about $800.00. I would have thought the first person would have removed the tree roots when he was here. 4 days after first person was here the sewer backed up again. Water all over the basement floor for the second time. I called and complained that on the first time he was here he should have used a larger auger after getting the water to flow. He came out the next day and used a 4" auger and went through the line about 3 times. Haven't had a problem since he was here with the 4" auger. My take on the whole thing is that the sewer liner at $5,000.00 is way over priced for just 15ft. The water jet option is also way over priced at $800.00. I have since had 4 quotes for water jetting the line that range in price from $390.00 to $585.00, all from licensed plumbing contractors. I also have 2 quotes for the sewer liner, 1 @ $3,286.00 and $3,675.00 for the 15ft option. I was told by the first person that came out that I would get the DVD of the camera inspection. NOT true unless you buy the liner option for the $5,000.00. Overall I was not happy with the way it all went down, come here, do a NOT complete job the first time, water in the basement again, way overpriced solutions.

We warranty cabling of sewers for one year or until it backs up again. This is included with a free televise of the sewer in order to pinpoint the cause of the backup. In your case this was roots. Cabling a sewer with root intrusion is only a temporary fix and therefore we offered several options to fix your sewer permanently. We are not the cheapest plumbing company, but we do quality work and stand behind our product.

The plumber came on time, and was very informative and helpful. They quoted me a price that is $200 more than the average quotes that I got from other plumbers. However, they charge $59 dollars for just coming to your house, and I really needed to get the job done. Sad to say, I'd regreted this decision specially since a couple of days later, I received notice from my tenant that water is leaking from the garbage disposal. RooterMD sent another technician and wanted to charge me another $275 to fix the leak. They said that the issue was the dishwasher connection. But all they needed to do is just replace a rubber connection that probably cost $20 tops and takes less than 10 minutes to replace. I pointed out that they were already overpriced from the initial installation, but they would only adjust the price by $25. Bottom line, this company will NOT give you free estimates and charges $59 just to show up at your house. However, their estimages are not competitive and is 40% higher than average. And if there are issues, they will figure out a way to charge you more.

They did all except 2. and half of 3. arguing they didn't need to remove the concrete from the driveway. Nonetheless charged full price of estimate. Now that winter has gone my driveway has buckled into the hole making my driveway unusable. The concrete slabs they were to remove are tilted up so high I can't drive onto my driveway. They should, in my opinion, be willing to complete what they bid and remove the worthless concrete slabs in the driveway. Upon contacting them they argued we had signed an "Excavation Disclaimer" so they aren't responsible for what they created. If I had been informed that my driveway might be up on end once the work settled I would have insisted they remove the concrete as bid the day they did the work. While they may be legally in the clear I am disappointed.
Description of Work: Their bid was for: 1. Mobilize crew and equipment from shop to jobsite. 2. Saw cut section of drive needed to access sewer. 3. Rough grade backfill only. 6. Not responsible for landscaping or tree if removed. 7. Excludes in the least all unexpected work and contingencies encountered not specifically listed above. 8. Considering it was Good Friday my hopes of finding someone to come out same day were pretty thin. I called RooterMD and explained the problem to them. They were all booked for the day but I committed to paying the higher rate service call to get the problem fixed. A few hours later I got a call back that one of their technicians freed up some time and would be there at their normal rate. Whew! John arrived and got right to work. He used their televised camera to identify the clogged area and he flushed it through then he checked all the clean outs and ensured everything was running smoothly before he left. He cleaned everything up and within 2 hours all was good again. I'm so grateful to John and RooterMD for a great job at a great price.

Let me start by saying "I'm very hard to please consumer." I'm very picky. Comes from my Military background. Everything went well. The technician was on time and very professional. The only issue was the price. I purchased this as an Angies list deal and didn't read the fine print (my fault). The deal was $299 for a whole home humidifier however, they had to run a water line and return duct which cost an additional $269; wasn't a deal to me after that. However, since the technician was already at my home and I was in dire need of the home humidifier, I went for the complete install. They were nice enough to let me use another coupon in conjunction with the special I purchased which saved me $25. RooterMD Plumbing & Heating was very professional and I will definitely use them again. They didn't try to sell me more than what was required.
