RooterMD replaced the main sewer (about 30 feet) line for our house from soggy orangeburg pipe to PVC schedule 40. They have good equipment and intentions, but some issues happened during our experience with them. The first visit to inspect the line went well, and the technician who came out was very thorough and professional. They identified a problem with our main sewer line and recommended to replace it. The 50 year old sewer connection was made out of Orangeburg pipe - asphalt impregnated cardboard and was blistered, bulging inward. Their camera system showed that the pipe instead of being round was actually like a U-section. The RooterMD estimator then came out and gave us an quote (inclusive of permits, etc) which seemed reasonable, and proposed a $1500 discount if they did not have to go under the sidewalk. They mentioned that this was a routine, job, and they would start at 9 and be completely done by 7 pm. We scheduled the work for the following week after receiving assurances that they routinely work year-around. On the day they were scheduled to work, it was a cold 8 am morning at 25F. Unlike the first crew, the lead plumber was not as professional and courteous. There was snow on the ground, and the excavator and plumber were not prepped as to where to dig and how deep to go to expect the main drain line, even though Miss Dig had been called and the utility locations marked. After a late start with an hour long delay waiting for a tree trimmer, the excavator finally started digging. and digging. He finally reached the pipe by 4 pm. Finished uncovering the entire line by 7 and, plumber relaid the pipe by 8, and finally finished the work by 10 pm. The trouble started when the plumber presented us with a $1000 bill over and above the estimate at 10 pm. It seemed unreasonable and we resisted, but we were not in a position to negotiate at that time as we were putting our children to bed and did not want to cause a scene. Considering the difficulty of working in cold weather and goodwill, we were willing to pay over the estimate considering the 2 hours of extra digging, but were not prepared for such a steep overcharge for no reason. The plumber mentioned he had to charge this amount, and to discuss with the office the next day. As it was already past 10 pm, we let him charge our card with that assurance. When we called the office next day, they mentioned that there were large 6ft x 2 ft concrete slabs in the way, leading to a difficult excavation and disposal fees. Now I was present there the whole day, and there were only a couple of small 2x2ft chunks of concrete to excavate. There were some boulders and construction debris but nothing that had to be hauled away from the site for disposal, and would warrant the $1000 over charge. After further calling and negotiating with them the following day, we were promised that RooterMD would remove $500 from the overcharge and refund it back to the card. On the plus side, they did come back to check on the work the following day and see if the drain was working satisfactorily. Additionally, due to dirt settling in the hole, the sump discharge line has shifted since they did the work. Now the sump drain needs to be reconnected. They promised to come back to do it, and followed through after allowing a couple of months for the ground to settle. So, our lessons learned 1) There seemed to be some disconnect between the office and the on-site crew, considering lack of clear understanding of utility location, depth and water shutoff. Make sure the plumber/excavator doing the work are clear as to where and how far to dig.. They have excellent tools to locate the sewer line, and MissDig can provide clear instruction as to the location of utilities. hope for no snow after MissDig marks or take pictures of the marked locations with references so that you can still find the locations after snow. I also ended up paying for after hours water shutoff as the crew was worried about hitting the water supply line. 2) If possible, schedule this during the warmer months where there is enough light to see where they are putting the excavated dirt/debris. Since it started to snow ( around an inch accumulation) when they were filling the hole, they could not see where they had placed the dirt and could not put it all back. Now our front yard has debris scattered all around, and I had to dig out my flower beds from under mounds of dirt. 3) Stick to the quoted amount on the day of service, and request a bill if there is any additional charge.
Description of Work: 1) Roto-rooted the sewer line and identified orangeburg pipe failure on 1/30 2) Replaced our main sewer line on 2/4 3) Repaired sump discharge line which had moved/sagged due to excavation 4) Returned in June and trimmed up outside clean out stub after ground settled

They were reasonable because they didn`t require a lot of time and a lot of equipment. I think it was fine. I thought it was fine in every way. The service person who came here was comprehensive. He explained what might happen and the best of possibilities. It did not cost me as much as I thought it might. He was respectful. He was patient. I did not feel that he was rushed or I was rushed. He answered all my questions.

GREAT, absolutely GREAT Service A+++++ & 5***** ?. We knew we were in good hands & not going to be taken for some ride. They were referred to us by a Good friend of mine (after hours) who is a mechanical restoration tech. & knows how to do all this, but he knows when to call the Pros too. They were here early, price was rough to hear, but when you look at all the skilled plumbing required. The Slimming down, consolidating & cleaning up the old massive exposed drain into a nice & neat package. Snaking the line 90' back, boy oh boy did they pullout the roots. Camera it too, 2 B sure the line to the city mains in good shape. If you have ever performed any work on an old Redford house you know how Murphy's law can be factored in. Fast, had ALL the material on site, they weren't sending guys out after items needed, they had it. Explaining completely so we understood what is going to be done & why. Cleanup, was excellent, GREAT clean up!!!!!!! ?? ?? ? ? ! To remove an old cement sink (200lbs) that we've had sitting for 2 decades for us. Unable to get rid of it due to my disability. It sat & collected junk & dirt. We would go right back to them for any work needed. They do Heating & Cooling too, they can do it all.
Description of Work: Eliminated a sewer line that rotted-out @ the wall causing a bad leak had to install inline vent did not have a vent for that line line has been slow for 30 years. Remove single laundry tub, install Dbl. Installed an inline pump to push any & all waste water up & out to the main. Removed a 200lb. Cement tub for us, remove the single tub being used currently for laundry tub. Re-plumb the entire basement system.

When I called the person who answered was very friendly. She was able to set up service for that day and said she would call when the plumbers were on their way. She also told me where I could find coupons on their website. Dan and Clarence arrived shortly after the call. They were very nice, professional, and before stepping into the home put shoe covers on their boots. Within a few minutes they identified the problem and went to their truck to work up some solutions. After about 10 minutes they came back with four options. The cheapest was $831! It seemed very expensive, so I said I would like to check with a few other plumbers. They were not pushy and didn't say anything like, "This is the best price you'll find." They were understanding and even showed me on their iPad where they put notes that if I decided to do the work my $59 service call charge would be credited towards the balance. I'm glad I decided to do this as I found another plumber to do the same job for $225. Although this company was very nice, I would not use them again as I think I have now found a local plumber who charges a reasonable amount for work.

OK on the sewer stuff. Poor on the sidewalk replacement. They asked for a $10,000.00 bond payment which they said the Village of Manchester required. After calling the Village offices, they said there was no such requirement or payment. RootMD said they would apply it to the final bill which they 'kind of did.' Their paperwork was very vague. Soon the sidewalk started to sink after each rain storm. They poured it all in one slab. Soooo, on the one edge it's down about one a one and one half inches. The other edge is up about the same and poses a tripping hazard. A number of people have tripped on it, including our younger grandchildren who don't want to go out there any more. In addition, this has caused the slab of concrete in the front of our front porch to dip down towards the area where they did their work. In a 'good' rainstorm, the water travels from the village sidewalk and down the 'replaced' side walk and drains under the front slab that I just mentioned was sinking on the front edge. I've called them repeatedly to get this resolved with no resolution. About five people came out. About the third or fourth person, or new manager asked for our paperwork so he could see who did this and bring some resolution. I foolishly agreed so I'm left without any paperwork and no resolution. I've grown weary of calling them back. They just seem to hope I will forget it.. The Village has begun to complain about the uneven edge that is on their portion of the front sidewalk. We don't know what to do, we are both retired and lived on a restricted income and can't afford to have this all repaired by ourselves. I've filled out this form about three times but you have not responded. We need some HELP! Our home phone number is 734-428-1274.
Description of Work: Unclogged the sewer leading from the house. Dug up the front sidewalk to replace the sewer line from house to Village of Manchester connection point. Replace line with PVC pipe and added two cleanouts outside. Injected an epoxy lining from the outside back into the house to the first joint point. Replaced the sidewalk. Sort of smoothed the dirt out.

I called concerning the offer they show on Angies - $289 for cleaning and video inspection. The tech who did the cleaning told me the computer told him to charge $249. The tech who did the video work told me that I could get a copy of the video for a nominal cost - his exact word, "nominal". After the service I asked to buy a copy of the video - price is $451 - the full cost of doing a video service with DVD. Apparently this is their base cost if the customer wants a copy of the video, and the word "nominal" should never had entered the conversation. If I'd know the cost, I would have taken far better notes during the inspection. I'll have to get another video done in order to get the repair work quoted. I will not use this company again.

Sir, you did not purchase the coupon through Angie's list. You received the cabling service and free camera inspection at a discount rate and I mailed the video to you for the cost of postage. The service you received was worth $451.00 and you received the service for $249. The video produced during the camera inspection is not normally included, but I included it for the cost of postage following our e-mail discussion. We have attempted to contact you by phone several times, but have been unable to speak with you. We pride ourselves on world class service and stand behind our work. Thank you for using Rooter MD Plumbing and Heating.

I was just going to get a quote for having a chimney liner added to a house I am renovating, but this company was able and willing to complete several other jobs that I knew I could not do on my own. In fact, they offered to do all of the work that very day. The price was a little on the high side, but still reasonable since I figured I was paying for the convenience of having it done so promptly and peace of mind of having it done already. (Also, no other companies who I contacted through Angie's List replied to my messages!) Everyone I dealt with--both the dispatchers on the phone and the technicians who came to my home--were 100% friendly and professional. They arrived on time and communicated clearly. All of the work was completed that day and done professionally. I'd be glad to use them again!

RooterMD is highly recommended because while it took three visits, Sean and his helper, Dan did a great job repairing and improving my sink drain, and Charlotte kept us appraised of when th they should be expected to appear so we could be ready for them. Why they visits? #1 was result of a stopped up drain that was flooding the basement floor where the first floor sink drains. I called RooterMD about 8:30 AM based on recommendations from Angies list The showed up before two and unplugged the drain but said there was packed grease and recommended their waterjet service to clear it all. #2 was the water jet service where they found the iron pipr under the basement floor was rotted and should be replaced with PVC. #3 was the replacement. They jack hammered the floor, replaced the pipe, added a cleanout, rerouted the furnace drain, and cleaned up nicely. They showed me the damage and were an expert jovial crew. Expensive? Yes, but well worth it as I know the job was done right.

Rooter MD was responsive, helpful, and professional. The service was performed without any trouble and cost us less than the more traditional forms of replacing the whole pipe by excavating. We haven't moved into the house yet, so I can't speak to the performance of the new pipes. But the service and work performed were without any trouble so far.

They charged for the service call in the price of the actual work. I found the price excessively high for clearing two drains. They also did not schedule the appointment as given, which affected what else I had to do. The plumber was very helpful and did a fine job. I felt that the office staff and scheduling let it down.

The job went great. My sump pump drain line was not draining . Rooter MD came out and first tried to rooter the drain, but that didn't work. So next they put a camera in the drain line to see exactly where it was plugged and also to indicate where to start digging. Sean and his crew, Joe and Dan, came out and after a few hours of digging they found the line and repaired it. They were very informative as to how the job was going and on top of that they did everything they could to preserve my grass. What a great company. I will definitely call them again if I should have any problems with my plumbing, heating or drain lines.

He came and looked at the repair. He quoted me a price that was 3 times what I paid before. I told him I did not want him to do the work for that price. He gave me a second price and it was still to high and then he gave a price that was 20$ more what I was used to paying. I said okay go ahead and do it. I felt he was trying to take advantage of me. My plumber could not come but I knew how much to expect to pay for this. I usually pay between 100$-140$ but he had quoted me 450$. He ended up paying 150$. The work was fine but I do not trust him. I would not recommend him to anybody.

Although Shane was pleasant to deal with and he knew his stuff, I was extremely disappointing to later find out that I was quoted a price over $800 more than another company! What Rooter MD wanted $1300 to do, cost me $480 elsewhere. To make sure we are comparing "apples to apples", the identical pump and procedures were done. An incredible overcharge will make me look elsewhere from now on. Does the term "highway robbery" ring a bell? Nice guy. I'm sure the company is good. The price is shocking.
