Rooter MD Plumbing and Heating

They did a pretty good. The price was a little high but the overall work was very good. The quality was good. Two guys came and responded on time. They were very professional. It was a good service even though the price was a little high and they got the job done.

They were on time, prepped the house so it wouldn't get dirty and cleaned up great.

Marshall was very professional. He wore shoe covers in the house. He detailed all of our options w/ the corresponding prices and waited for our decision. After the work was performed, he meticulously returned the bathroom to its original state of cleanliness.

company was called on a saturday and they came out in about an hour. plumber knew his trade well and quickly and professionally replaced the valve. Would use again.

Two plumbers came to the house, which was a surprise, as I've had other drains cleaned and one guy did the work. They were punctual and got right to work. Jeff and Kevin were professional and pleasant, and fully explained what they were doing. The estimate was for the job, and not an hourly rate. The job was simple enough and went well. They cleaned up the minimal mess they made and the drain is flowing well. At $208, the cost would have seemed a bit high to me for the service, but RooterMD foregoes the $59 service charge for Angie's List members, bringing it into a reasonable range for me. Overall, I'm pleased with the service and I will use RooterMD again when I need plumbing work in the future.

They responded right away to my phone call and came out to perform plumbing services the same day. Prompt, professional service. I was very pleased and would hire them again. I was surprised by how much it cost to change a bathroom sink faucet, but I'm assuming it is a comparable price to what other plumbers would charge for the same thing. I would definitely hire them again for plumbing services.

UPDATE as of 5/16/13: A couple of weeks ago we posted our honest review of a very unfortunate experience we had with Rooter MD. We value Angie's list and have hired several contractors using this website. Therefore, we feel an obligation to also provide honest feedback no matter how good or bad or experience is. Today we received a letter in the mail from the owner of Rooter MD, Pete Wood, threatening legal action against us if we didn't edit or remove our review. We've will not change an honest review so we have taken it down because this company is just not worth any more of our time. This is supposed to be a forum for consumers to review service providers for the benefit of other consumers. It is not right for service providers to use intimidation tactics to get poor reviews removed from this site. If site members are afraid to be honest about their experience, how will this be a useful tool for other consumers?

I woke up to what I feared was my sanitary sewer about to overflow. Have had problem with it in the past. I called this company for the first time and John was very nice. Although the appointment turned out to be later than originally stated it was all worth the wait once the tech Marshall came to my house. He was one of thee most thoughtful repair techs I have ever encountered! He took the time to go over all of my options and encouraged me to ask him questions...He explained a great deal about the plumbing in my house and it was a great education. After he finished he made certain everything was nice and clean. He was in my home for about 2 hours and he was soo polite, even telling me at one point to sit down and relax and let him take care of everything. Would use this company again in the future especially if I could get this tech back!! You are AWESOME Marshall!!!

The County Authority mandated that a back-flow regulator be put on my 60 yr old house boiler system. They provided a list of certified plumbers/companies, so I checked it against local companies with an "A" rating on Angie's List. I read all the comments for RooterMD and was pleased with what I read, with the exception of the charges. However, their charge is for a flat rate per job -not by the hour. I felt that was better, because if there were complications, and the job took longer than estimated, I could be out a lot more money. Additionally, I told them that I got their name from Angie's List, and the service charge ($59) was waived. I made an appt, and 2 days later Lyle came out. He was polite, personable and professional. He told me that he had been a plumber for almost 30 years (though he looks a lot younger) and had been with Rooter MD for several of those years. When he got half way thru the job, he found that he needed a special type of pipe connector for my system and had to go to a a big-box hardware store to pick up the part. (This was where I was glad I went with a flat cost contract instead of hourly). After he finished, he showed me where he put the system in and how he did it so that if it ever needed to be changed, it would be easy to do (the old system was built right along the brick wall and he had a heck of a time trying to place the new system into it). On payment, I decided to use a credit card; the down side is that RooterMD charges for it's use ($20). Lyle did warn me ahead of time about this charge, but I still decided to go with the card.

.Responded very promptly the first day. However, the plumber told my husband he did not have the right equipment with him that day and the equipment needed took 2 operators (some sort of extra high pressure rooter). He told him what service we should purchase to root out the clogged drain so we prepaid a deposit (something like a $300+ service). The 2nd appointment on a subsequent day was also prompt, but alas, the plumber showed up alone. Said he would not be able to operate the special equipment and perform service we paid deposit for, but was able to root it out with what he had available anyway. So in the end we spent less, but after starting the work he admitted to us that if we bought a $4 part in the future, we could probably do this ourselves. :/ At least he was honest I guess. I guess I'm giving them a B for not being dispatched with the right equipment/right number of people not once, but twice. Kind of inconvenient to wait extra day(s) with a family of 3 kids not being able to use kitchen sink or dishwasher. They were nice and professional though. And we paid comparable price to other rooter services we've used in the past. I would probably not use them again for the same service though (probably would for other plumbing repairs).

They came to do a diagnostic. They said to come again to clean the tankless water heater it would be $475. I think that is too much.

The call to RooterMD was pleasant. The person who answered the phone was very good. They dispatched Marshall to my home the same day. To say he was professional and pleasant would be an understatement. He knew exactly what I was looking for based on my earlier call do I did not have to re-explain much. He took his time and did not rush the visit. Before the work work was done, I knew I would be using this company again. He made me feel like whether it was all of the work or the one project it was all important. He fixed the kitchen sink and made it almost new. This had to be the best experience I have ever had with a service call. I felt like he was my personal serviceman. I have a number of projects left in my home and RooterMD will be my company of choice. All of this from checking Angie's List first!!! Thanks Angie!!!

What I liked about them was just them going in and getting the job done. We didn't do a whole lot of debating. One guy diagnosed it over the phone for the most part. They gave us a quote and delivered on it.

Overall a good experience. I will use them again, but hope I don't have to. The guy gave me good advice to prevent future problems.

RooterMD was the third plumbing company I had on site, and the only one who correctly identified and fixed the problem. There was no guesswork on my part, as they had cameras that worked in water and could show me the problem. When I saw that the blockage was nearly complete, I agreed that re-piping was the way to go. Along the way, the workman corrected the angle of the waste water line to increase the flow, and added a clean out in the crawl space just in case. When everything was done, they mailed me a DVD of the films to show the before and after. All personnel from Rooter MD were professional, efficient, and tireless in their efforts to give us a working system. I would recommend to anyone in need of plumbing repair.

We were pleased with them. The guy was very nice and he did a really neat job of installing everything. He cleaned up very well. Everything looks really good and it appears to be working quite well. We called them back to snake out a drain. We used them the second time because we were pleased with what they did the first time. We didn't compare their prices on the water heater. It seemed reasonable. The water heater was $900. The plumbing job was $140 which seemed reasonable because he had to snake out a long way and the basement was flooded. He was very, very prompt on the water heater but they ran into some problems and were a little late on the plumbing. It was a legitimate problem they had with their first job.

Got this company from Angie's List in the first place. The initial visit was to video the inside of the pipe to assess its condition. The rep couldn't make a final conclusion, but recommended "hydrojetting" (cleaning out the pipe with a high-powered water spray), and said that might get out the roots that were in the pipe but there also might be additional damage that he couldn't see. The hydrojetting revealed that in fact there was serious damage to some of the clay sections of the pipe between our house and the main pipe under the street - they would have to dig it up and replace it. Fortunately, at least, they wouldn't have to dig up the street (which is apparently also the homeowner's responsibility, all the way out to the main city pipe. The team that came out to dig up and repair the pipe (this was the third different team that had been sent to me, first the guy to make an initial assessment, then two guys to do the hydrojetting, then this new pair) thought they would be done in a day, but apparently because of the condition of the soil (too sandy, maybe? I'm not really sure) it ended up taking way longer than planned. They were out in our front yard until about 11 pm. I really felt bad for them having to work so late, although I wondered why this was so unpredictable that they couldn't have known what kind of issues might come up. At the end they managed to get the pipe hooked up. They asked me for an extra $500, which I didn't want to pay as there was nothing in the contract about extra charges, and when I resisted they didn't argue too much. I did tip the two of them, wanting to give them something for themselves, but didn't feel I owed more to the company. The end result was: hopefully a pipe that will last a long time, although who knows (they do give a warranty on their work, which hopefully I won't have to get into), a totally destroyed front yard (due to the digging and also the tracks from the small backhoe they used), a sidewalk I still have to pay to repair, and a new 4" PVC cleanout pipe sticking up about 4 inches in my front yard, which is ugly (I knew they were going to put in a new cleanout, but they didn't consult me on the location, and now I don't think it would be very easy to relocate it, but I'm unhappy with it). So I'm happy not to have our sewer pipe backing up, but I can't say the professionalism of Rooter MD was too impressive, overall. The initial guy seemed very knowledgeable, but the other two teams were a lot less so, and I was a bit unsure that they knew what they were doing.

Their service is wonderful. They are prompt. When I have a problem, they send someone out quickly as possible. I can call them anytime or 24 hours or as soon as they can. They're very professional, listen when I have problems and they made me happy. They're good but pretty expensive.

They were able to perform the job as expected and they used precautions to make sure that the carpet was not soiled during the process. They also allowed us to watch them as they performed the cleanout because they were also recording the drains after the cleanout. They were also able to removed the roots that had grown into the drains from the surrounding weeping tile system.

He had to come back out once and re-snake the drain. Have not had any problems since and there was no charge for the comeback.

The tenant at our rental home called us, saying that she had a gentleman from RooterMd plumbing in the basement to look at the clogged up drain. He said he can open the pipe for $375. We agreed to that price, even though we knew that it's very expensive, because we live out of the state and the tenant did not want to wait. After he did the job he mentioned that the pipe is still 40% clogged and to open it a 100% he needs to use a different device than the one that he brought with him. and this would cost us an additional$400-$500. In my judgement that should have been a contingency that he should have planned for and informed us about beforehand. When my husband asked the person from RooterMd how much do you charge per hour he said $375.

The quality of work and the responsiveness is great. Their prices are awfully expensive. They did good work and I liked the guy that came out and did the work. He was friendly and very competent. Their prices are way out of line so we have gone with a different plumber. We would go with them if their prices were more reasonable. It was very easy to get hold of them and schedule an appointment. They were on time and professional. They wore their booties. I like the people they send out.
