Description of Work: The poor rating is do to their lack of responsiveness. I left a message on their voicemail on 5/24/14 requesting a return call to make appointment for estimate on repair/replacement of two upper decks. On 5/25/14 Richard called and asked if he could stop by anytime to see decks. When I explained that an appointment is needed because the only access to the decks is thru the house, he said he would call back to make an appointment. He did not call back.

Description of Work: Overall, very nice job on our deck refinishing. Very professional when coming out for the quote. Only minor gripe was that they started the painting process and then it started raining soon after. Deck looked blotchy and unfinished. Called the office and they came out several days later to fix/finish the job. (Looks good now)

Description of Work: The deck was stripped and refinished in TWP Cedar Tone 101. In addition, some rotting boards were replaced with more white cedar lumber. I am very happy with the service overall. It seems that when I did the job myself, in the past, that there was more luster/richness to the finish. Th may be because the deck is now 12 years old. Nonetheless, 1 year later the deck still looks good. This is the first professional service provider that has made the finish last one year, with the obvious appearance that it will last another year. In other words, I have always gotten 2 years out of a strip and re-stain when I did the work. No one that I have hired was able to do that, with the now obvious exception of Restore-A-Deck. Description of Work: Asked for an estimate to clean and restain deck. The provider declined stating we were not in an area that they serviced. Areas of service were not listed in available infromation.

Description of Work: Job: Clean and stain a moderate size back yard deck over a walkout basement patio (no stairs), clean and stain a small side door landing with stairs, clean and paint a small backyard wood bridge. Owner: Great sales pitch about attention to detail, professional staff, grounds protection, etc.. Lots of excuses when none of it turned out to be true. Cleaning/prep: Good power washing, did not pound in nails or do other prep work promised. Did come back when requested and pound in a few nails. Had to do the rest myself. Staining: Professional crew turned out to be poorly supervised high schoolers. Smudges, streaks, missed spots throughout. Did not stain undersides of railings, fascia or undercarriage. "Forgot" to stain the side landing. When called back to stain all that was missed, did come back and complete the job leaving a 2 tone stain over stain appearance. Will have someone else out to redo this with next years budget. Painting: Subcontracted out by the owner to a "professional" painter who spray painted the tops of everything, but none of the undersides, undercarriage, etc. Even the top 1/2 to 1 inch of rail posts were not painted. Did manage to spray paint over the rockery and landscaping for 2 feet around the bridge. Repainted the entire bridge myself this last weekend to have it done right. Site protection: None. Drips of stain everywhere - on the house brick siding, generator, electoral boxes, new brick paver patio, and landscaping. Did come back to "clean up" the drips with excuses for why the grounds weren't protected. Most drips cleaned up, but now with damaged discolored pavers where the clean up was performed. Did come back and clean up some of the paint of of the bigger rocks around the bridge. Ultimately, 3 call backs for cleaning. We have given up and are trying to safely clean the rest ourselves. Price: $500 more than the next highest bidder (another A rated Angie's list provider). We were willing to pay the higher price to insure high quality work and protect our new patio and landscaping, which the salesmanship made us believe we were getting. Big mistake. Overall: Would not let them touch my house again even if they offered to work for free.

Description of Work: I called Restore-A-Deck over the weekend and left a recorded message. They called me back the following business day and scheduled a technician to come out for an estimate. The gentleman met with my husband and after the appointment my husband commented on how knowledgeable and professional the technician was. Because this was our first estimate, we are still doing comparative pricing. However, Restore-A-Deck left a great "first impression."

Description of Work: The owner of Restore-a-Deck is a first class businessman who truly takes customer satisfaction seriously. We had an issue with the opaque paint adhering to our deck -- when he left, it looked great, but by morning, the paint had an oily residue making the surface extremely slippery, and there was a "swirling" effect in appearance. I called the owner and he came out immediately to inspect. After looking, he brought the rep from the paint manufacturer to come look as well. Suffice it to say that he went above and beyond what my husband and I would have expected to "make it right". He charged us not one single cent and re-powerwashed and repainted the entire deck. He even touched up the railing. It looks amazing! He has a customer for life and I will recommend Restore-a-Deck to everyone I know.
