Proficient Heating & Cooling was asked to submit a bid on a Friday because my contractor was not pleased with the other 3 bids that had been received. Quentin Hicks showed up and was given the full list of items needed by our contractor to provide a comparable bid. When asked how soon we needed it done I said ASAP. He said that he could do it two days later on SUNDAY! Quentin said that he'd have his bid completed in a short time and he sent it to me via email. I shared the bid with my contractor and he agreed that this was the right company to provide for our need. Quentin, Kurt and Dan showed up Sunday AM and about 7 hours later the full installation was completed. After another company provided duct cleaning several days later, Quentin returned to turn on the heater for it's first operational check. As an added comment, it was discovered during the old heater removal that the A/C coil in the old unit had 2 holes in the bottom of it. I told Quentin to replace it so he gave me a bid and returned on Monday to install the new one. Since this was a HUD house purchased "as is" he went out to check out the condenser which looked brand new (it gave the appearance to a buyer that a new, functioning A/C system was present). Quentin said that on the unit it noted that when shipped it contained nitrogen in the lines and were not charged with R-22. That is precisely the condition we found it in so 7.5 lbs of R-22 needed to be added. In addition, the 30 amp disconnect was missing from the box on the wall that was wired to the unit. Needless to say, the condition of the A/C was not as advertised to a new homeowner so Quentin reduced the Freon bill by 10% and did not charge us for the 30amp disconnect to help ease the pain. After the aforementioned heater operational check was done immediately after the ducts were cleaned, the A/C was put into full operation as the outside air temp was well into the 80's. Quentin Hicks and his company, Proficient Heating & Cooling, was a real blessing to this purchaser of an "as-is" HUD home. I would highly recommend Quentin. His character and work ethics are superb!
Description of Work: Quentin removed old heater and humidifier, installed new sheet metal for return air ducts that had been removed by another contractor due to asbestos content. He installed a new high efficiency (95%) Payne furnace with upgraded media filter , new humidifier, and ran new gas lines to hot water heater & clothes dryer.
