Overall my wife and I are very pleased with the service from JK Home Improvement

We spoke with Andy to get an estimate on the work we wanted done. Andy provided us with good information and his quote. We had spoke to other companies before choosing JK Home Improvement Company. JK's quote was in the ball park but a little higher than the other quotes. We decided to go with his company and we are happy with the results. The whole crew was friendly and courtesy. It seemed that they wanted to make sure that we were satisfied with the job. The job took 3 days to complete. The men were alway on time and cleaned up at the end of each day. If you had a question about any of the work being done they were always willing to listen and address the issue!

We had been told the roof would be done in a day, The following day, my wife was to have surgery. When we returned home we were told the roof was not done and the team would be back at 7:30, working outsdie the bedroom and bathroom as she prepared to go. It took a couple calls to insist on the delay of the start until after we had left for the hospital at 8:00. The work was done well, and the team returned in a week to do the trim and gutters. They were out by 4:00 and the place looks great. The quality of the work is good, and the yeard is basically free of scraps and nails. I was impressed by the mobile dumpster that they used to gather old shingles and them take them to the larger dump truck. This facilitated the process.

he came to the house to give us a quote and after 3-4 interviews with other companies we signed with JK. Andy sold me the job as soon as we met him, He is very professional and did what he promised new review we recommended JK and gave them high marks, my neighbors needed gutters and asked about JK Needless to say they were very pleased with our stamp od approval Andy gave Mr Kegan a fair price and did a great job Jerry Clary.

We saw the reviews on Angie's List for the Detroit area. They deserve every A review they receive. We had a bit of a rough start due to a problem with the correct copying/reading of a phone number. Once we got an appointment set for an estimate, they were prompt in attending the appointment. Andy impressed my husband with his knowledge, straight forward assessment of what he could and couldn't do as far as repair and improvement,. He told us that he could improve the look of the bay window, tearing off the rotted plywood, replacing it with a new maintenance free vinyl front. The roof above the window had been poorly repaired. Andy said they could get it to an "8" out of "10" instead of the "2" out of "10" that it was without doing a residing. This was a small job for J&K, so it took about 3 weeks before the work could be started.The crew dropped off the materials on Monday, planning to start on Tuesday. Due to Hurricane Sandy, Tuesday had 40+ mph winds. We didn't think they would want to work, but they arrived and got going. We were totally impressed with the level of care, craftsmanship, and WORK ETHIC of this crew. It was a crew of 7, all working continuously for two days. The set up, workmanship and clean up were outstanding! The bay window looks at least an "8"! The crew was pleasant and showed care for all aspects of the job. For example, it was garbage/recycling day on Wednesday. When they put things away for Tuesday, they checked that, and rolled the bins out to the street for us before they left! We know we could have gotten estimates for a lower price, but you get what you pay for. J&K charged us a fair price for excellent work. Strongly consider hiring them if you want the job completed exactly as you want it done with high quality American made materials.

The roofers arrived early in the morning and the job was completed by early afternoon.We were pleased with the job and have already recommended this company to others.

Due to sagging gutters, dark vertical blotchy streaks in the fascia trim behind and below, and water dripping-to-gushing from the bottom joints from inside the fascia trim under the gutter, JK Home Improvement was contacted to replace our front and back aluminum gutters, along with replacing the aluminum trim on the fascia wood. This was done on Thursday, May 31. The proposal also provided for the replacing of any rotted fascia wood, as well as custom-made drip edges (for front and back of the house) to be fashioned over the top of the existing. The rotted fascia wood was removed and replaced, but on this date, no drip edge was affixed. The trouble, as senior members of the work crew pointed out, was that the rot in the wood specific to the front-porch overhang went behind the fascia wood, and into the wood of the main vertical butt-end of the roof. Because of this, these senior members of the crew stated that this could only mean that the first three feet or so of the roof deck was rotted, and needing to be replaced. With the first three feet of the roof having a wavy, alternating concavity, and with outer shingles not following the slope of the roof (i.e., pointed out horizontally, or even for some curved upward), this seemed logical: Water getting down to the edge of the roof wasn?t rolling off the shingles into the gutter, or rolling under the shingles to the contact point of the drip edge?and then into the gutter, but rolling under the shingles back to the edge of the roof deck. And then, eventually, the roof deck would become waterlogged, and then transfer the saturation to the adjoining fascia wood, which would after a given time eventually rot and manifest itself with gushing water on the bottom, the ol? black streaks, etc. Hence, to prevent all this trouble from happening again (and again), it was recommended to re-do the front roof, from the front edge of the porch overhang, back to the first six feet up. Rain subsequent to the May 31 gutter/trim work revealed that water was dripping from the bottom joints from inside the fascia trim under the gutter, mainly?but not only?concerning the front-porch overhang. I was assured by the primary contact and cost estimator of JK Home Improvement, Andy Kondrath, that this ongoing water trouble proved a dead giveaway that his co-workers were correct in their analysis, and that a roof repair and re-do was in order This work was agreed to and performed by Casey of JK Home Improvement on Wednesday, June 13. From the porch overhang, to six feet up?and hence, from the minor overhang, to four feet up, the old roof was taken up down to the roof deck, then redone (removing and replacing any rotted parts of the plywood deck as needed), including the installation of a new drip edge. The next evening, on Thursday, June 14, a custom drip edge for the back of the house was fitted above/over the existing. The end result of all this is that during any heavy rain (e.g., the rain experienced just yesterday, Thursday, August 9), we?re back to square one: water is dripping from the bottom joints from inside the fascia trim under the gutter, mainly?but not only?concerning the front-porch overhang. The first sign of trouble (after the roof work on June 13) occurred on Sunday, June 17 (Father?s Day). After a heavy bout of rain, water was dripping from the joints in the bottom of inside the gutter trim, mainly?but not only?concerning the front-porch overhang. The same occurred the following day, Monday, June 18. At this time Andy Kondrath was contacted, who did drive over to the house. Unfortunately, the trouble wasn?t showing itself during his stay at the house?but did surface fifteen minutes after his departure. While Andy was here, he informed me to give the shingles a week or two to settle down, to settle in, as new shingles are prone to crowning?even brand-new ones. Agreed. The trouble, then, became the nearly two-week drought, as it didn?t rain again?to any substantial degree?until July rolled around. On Tuesday, July 3, we finally received some measurable rainfall, and sure enough, the trouble was still there. As I was to be out of town until Thursday, July 12, I held off phoning JK Home Improvement until the morning of Friday, July 13. This was done, and Mr. Kondrath informed me on this date he would get together with his brothers, as well as the roofer who performed the work, to bang heads and see what could be causing the ongoing trouble, as well as devising a possible, final solution here. I asked to be kept in the loop. However, it?s now a month later, with no further contact from JK Home Improvement?s end. As I expect Angie?s List will , in the near future, want me to provide an additional, further-in-depth report of these two experiences, I?ll refrain from any personal notes, comments, observations and the like, which then comes across as ranting and venting, and could be construed as falling under the umbrella of Having An Axe To Grind. (These reports pertain to the various categories in a typical Angie?s List review, e.g., Price, Punctuality, Professionalism). With JK having had such glowing previous reviews concerning their work, and being a local company, they were the best, logical choice here. It proved a disappointment. The following short story serves as a near-perfect analogy. In 2008, my year 2004 Saturn Ion 2 unexpectedly lost its electric power steering, while running, just driving down the street. I understandably took the car into Saturn of Plymouth for repair, placing an immediate service appointment. When I told the service crew of the incident, they looked incredulous. No wonder: Once I drove the car into the service bay, they?naturally?had me kill the engine. Once the car was restarted later, by a technician, to diagnose the trouble, there was none: the power steering was back online. They called me up to come get my car, without any diagnostic work done. A week later, boom!, the same thing happens all over again, only this time I?m on the freeway at 70 mph. And this time I didn?t make a service appointment, but drove straight to the dealership, entered the service bay, but refused to kill the engine, as I had to get them to see that, hey, there?s a ?Power Steering? message on the display, and that, yep, there?s only manual power steering on the car. The manager of the Service Department, getting wind of this incident, directed the crew to get the Ion to a bay and have this diagnosed and repaired as a top priority, as they hadn?t encountered this problem previously. Now, fast-forward to the present day, where, since 2010, I?ve received no less than three letters from Saturn/GM concerning and warning of possible sudden power steering loss on year 2004 Ion 2 models, where to take your car for servicing, cost reimbursement (if the repair was already done, and paid by the customer), etc. All I could say was, (1) there was a bonafide problem there, and (2) I?m glad I had an extended warranty on the Ion, avoiding all the hoop-jumping with respect to reimbursement.

We had such a great experience with this company. We first met Andy in April, after we had damage from hail to our roof and siding. We were dealing with our insurance to cover the damages. They were not willing to pay for all the damages after we had an adjuster come out to inspect. We spoke with Andy about what insurance was and wasn't willing to do. He was more than willing to speak with them himself. Even though our insurance company was terrible to deal with, never calling us back, let alone Andy, a second adjuster came out and Andy was there right on the dot to speak with them about the damages. He was just wonderful. Through all the months of dealing with this he has always showed up when needed, been extremely professional, friendly and responsive. He always returned phone calls the same day, and even apologized for making us wait! When we finally set everything up, we only decided to get the roof done. He set up the appt for the roof within a week and it was all done in a day. His employees showed up and 6am and were finished before we got home from work. The equipment they used was very up to date. When we got home that day it didn't even look like anybody had been there. Not a piece of anything was left behind. The overall experience, despite our terrible insurance company, was great thanks to Andy and JK. They did a fantastic job and any other job we decide to get done, we wouldn't hesitate to get done by them. Thanks for the great work!

I've been working on finding a company to come out and wrap my eves for sometime now. JK Improvement gave a fair price, not the cheapest but based on reviews they were the best company I could hire to get a quality job done. They came out to look at my house and give a quote on a Tuesday and by Thursday they were working on my job. They were done in one day which is great. My only issue with the project is how they butted the aluminum up against the vinyl siding. Instead of making it flush they just wrapped it around the top of the siding making it look very cheap and just "thrown on"... Several houses in my sub. Have had this done and I've never seen this done or I would have asked and specified on how it was installed.. Overall an ok price, very responsive, very friendly, but unhappy on how it was installed and looks on my house....

My overall experience with them so far has been excellent. They answered all my questions. He showed up on time to give me the estimates.

Andy one of the owners met us, gave us a price. Checked referrences and gave him the job. His proce, crew and service was excellent.

Andy came out and gave me a quote for vinyl siding. I really liked Andy and JKs business model. I really like working with family businesses! He was my first quote. I received a couple more, and in the end decided to go in another direction. Andy's price was in line with all others, his product was also the same product I had received other quotes on. I have since recommended Andy and his company to a few friends looking for siding estimates. Thank you Andy, and hopefully we may be able to use you again in the future! I will continue to recommend your company!

This went very well. They were great.

They were the highest quote, but they were very professional and knowledgeable. He came very prepared and had a booklet of options to show. He wrote everything down and answered all of my questions. He even took the color swatches up to my brick to show what colors would look best. Even though his quote was the highest I received, I'm still torn in my decision because his presentation really good. I felt confident that his company was experienced and would do a good job.

I was very please with the job the guys did on my gutters. The (5 or 6) guys drove up 4/27/12 around 2:30 and by 6:30 they were driving off. WOW!!! Andy Kondrath came by 4/24/ to give me an estimate and explained to me just what I needed done. The work on my house consisted of having all gutters and downspouts removed, putting in their place seamless gutters and downspouts. Replacement of any rotten wood as needed, and the installation of aluminum trim. Andy also brought it to my attention that it would be a good idea to install custom aluminum trim to cover the facia board behind the gutters. Clean up was included in this job which was the removal and hauling away of all existing gutters and downspouts. This was one less worry for me. If I need more work in the future I will hire JK Home Improvement to do the job. Sincerely, DeEtta Moss JULY 27, 2012- Update/ Thursday evening there was a rain storm. As a matter fac it was severe. Anyway I looked out the window to see sheets of rain falling down my windows instead of going down my new gutters this company had put on. Next morning very eary I called and left a message explaining the situation. Andy came right away and we found out my gutters were plugged with pine needles and leaves. He took time and cleaned them out and explained to me what I needed to do to keep the pine needles out. Andy did not have to come but he took the time to make sure things were working right. I highly recommend this company to do any type of ouside home improvemnts to your home. Oh Yeah, it rain very hard again right after he left and my new gutters worked perfectly.

Andy came out for the estimate and was very professional and put at us at ease. We got several estimates, but felt that Andy was the most competent and experienced. We also like the idea of a family run business. The crew came on the day promised and it was an amazing site to see. I would say they had at least 10 people there and they worked together like a symphony to get the job done. The roof and siding were done in 3 day! It was done well and they were very efficient and organinzed. They cleaned up their mess and you wouldn't have known that they had been there after they left. Except that is, for the exceptional work they did. I am more than pleased with the final outcome and would recommend JK (and Andy) without reservation. Thanks Andy!

I joined Angies list and stared looking for experts in various field for remodeling a house. I called several companies that performed the work of siding and gutter replacement . Andy scheduled an appointment with me within a day and the work was completed 2 days later. The porch awning had to be made along with the railing and Andy contacted me when the work was completed since I was out of town.The entire crew were very respectful, neat and made sure the yard was clean before leaving.

It was a good experience. They repaired the damage to my gutters and it is still holding up a year latter.

I had requested an appointment for vinyl siding from JK Home Improvement. I received a call a couple days later and setup an appointment. Andy showed up on time and was very thorough when explaining what needed to be done. He did not try to oversell and did not pressure us into making a decision on the spot. He quoted a fair price and we anticipate using JK Home Improvement in the near future.

It went great. I first went to their website and was able to create a picture of exactly what I wanted my house to look like using a link they provided. When I met with Andy I gave him the picture and nailed down the materials. The quote came in right about where I expected. Our house is large 3 stories and almost 100% siding with a 3 car attached garage. After I signed the contract Andy ordered the material and the crew was on sight and working within a week. Crew put in 6 days of long hours. As the weather was still snowy and cold, I did need to allow them use of my garage for the week as a workshop and park my vehicles in the neighbor's driveway, but that was expected. They completed the job beautifully and with great attention to detail (replacing all the outlet covers and installing all my new light fixtures for me). One old fixture was broken when it was taken down so I purchased new ones and they came back, as promised, a week later to install them for me. When the job was complete they cleaned the garage and site thoroughly. Crew was courteous and professional.

This was a very large job. There were many details discussed and nothing was overlooked or forgotten. Andy was very helpful for us to decide on colors, materials and details. He did not seem to be as interested in selling as much as he was in making sure we were getting what we wanted and would be happy with for a long time to come. The crews showed up when scheduled and completed their work quickly and neatly. They were also interested in making sure things were done to our satisfaction, also explaining what they were doing as the work progressed. This is definately a company that we would recommend to anyone.

Overall, JK did an awesome job; they were quick, thorough, and our house looks beautiful. They explain everything before they start, and use the highest quality materials. We would recommend them!

I met with the owner, was given a fair price on the spot and agreed to have the work done. The company was prompt and professional and did an excellent job. They also repaired a number of smaller items that were not a part of the original agreement at no additional cost. A company I can recommend.

We had a leak on the ceiling of our family room. This started as a small stain on he ceiling but over the course of a year a big piece of drywall had fallen down. We had one contractor try to repair the problem on the roof but after 3 or 4 attempts and numerous tubes of caulk ( he put caulk everywhere!) the leak was still there. We called several different companies but when you say the word leak it seems to make people shudder in fear and say "we do not do leaks"!! We finally joined Angie's List because we did not want to go through 10 different contractors and 10,000 dollars later and still have a leak in our family room. After joining Angie's List we found JK Home Improvement under both roofing & siding and they had some great reviews on Angie's site. When I spoke to Andy from JK he was not crazy about the job because of the word "leak". After talking to Andy he explained that some of there previous customers would call them about a leak and JK would go out and fix the leak only to have the homeowner call back and say his home is still leaking. After going back to the customers home Andy would find the leak to be in a completely different area of the roof but the customer wanted it fixed for free because they had already paid JK to fix a leak in the roof. Fixing leaks just started to get too costly and time consuming for JK ( that would make me think twice about repairing leaks too!) Andy came right out the next day (even though we were not home) and looked at the troubled area of our home and he called us and said he thought he could fix it because he had fixed similar homes that had leaks in the same location behind the chimney. Andy explained that it would be $2,300.00 dollars which sounds like a lot of money for a leak but there was a lot of work and labor involved in the repair process. The water was coming in behind our chimney due to bad siding on the chimney wall and bad trim work at the top of the chimney was causing issues too. There was also a lower roof that the crew had to set their ladders up on and this made it difficult to set up their ladders up due to the pitch of the lower roof. Two days later JK sent in 5 employees to work on this project six counting Andy. Each worker was very knowledgeable about this type of work and they all worked well together as a team, you could tell this was not their first dance! It took them about 7 hours from start to finish to complete this job and when they left you could not tell that they had been there! We were very impressed with the company the employees and the owners. This is a family owned business (3 brothers - Andy / Jeff / Bill) and there was two owners on our project which gives you a good feeling and comfort level. In talking to Jeff he mentioned to me that there is always a owner on any project they do so the job gets built correct the first time and with quality. You could tell in talking to Andy and Jeff that they were proud of their company and accomplishments as they should be. For my wife and I we were very relieved to have the leak fixed due to winter being upon us and we could now remove the rain bucket off the family room floor!! We would just like to say thank you to all of you at JK Home Improvement that had a part in fixing our home you are truly professionals in every sense of the word!
