We had hardwood installed in our dining room and then the entire first floor sanded and stained (1,500+ sq ft). The installation was fine, with the exception of a hole in the wall that they did patch up afterwards. The subsequent sanding and staining had many issues. Chatter marks, blotchy staining, debris in the finish, uneven and rough corners, sanding swirl marks, and damage to door jams and baseboard everywhere was extremely disappointing. We were forced to bring someone else in to fix the many issues with the job. Some of them such as the chatter and gouges could only be corrected so much. I'd recommend finding a certified installer and/or sander and finisher on the National Wood Flooring Association website (nwfa.org) in your area for such a job.
