Applied to many trees and bushes in my yard

I have been using the services of Independent Lawn Services since the Spring of 2014. I have been very impressed by the results of their work, a thick healthy lawn with no weeds. That was my hope when I signed up for their services. They also provide a very thorough report which accompanies each application. However, the first time they came, over a year ago, they used a motorized applicator which tore up a section of my lawn right at the start. They told me about the damage, recognized the need for a manual applicator, seeded the damaged area, and told me that they would only use manual application in the future. It was their first time out, early spring, the grass would grow back, they brought the issue to my attention, case closed. For 2015, I signed up for a full set of applications in advance. Great results, lawn looks great, they gave me some tips on watering which help, overall very positive. Until last week when they came back with a motorized applicator, tore up my lawn, and left without saying a word. I brought it to their attention, but of course there was no record of the previous damage, and by the way they are very sorry that they did not notice that they tore the lawn up. A few days later, after I called to complain, they came back and threw grass seed on the bare spots. Since it is now autumn, these will become mud patches to be reseeded in the spring of next year. Had they not torn up my lawn without saying anything, I would have rated them A in every category. Now my experience leads me to believe that they are simply not paying attention to the basics. I am not willing to see if they tear up my lawn a third time before I stop using their services.

The service provider completed everything they promised in a timely manner and professionally.

This is the second year that I've used Independent Lawn Service (2014 & 2015). The technicians come out periodically throughout the season--twice in the spring, twice in the summer, and three times in the fall. They are very professional. After the treatment has been applied, they always leave detailed notes regarding the work done that day as well as any observations or recommendations regarding the health of my lawn. I'm very pleased with their work and with the results.

The crew dispatched to perform the work did a good job. They showed up on time and worked diligently to complete the assignment. I added some additional work at the last minute and they took that in stride. The pace of their work was considerate of being paid by the hour and did not extend the time needed to complete the work. They cleaned up and removed the debris as promised. I think their price was fair and gave them a A only because I am someone who recognizes quality work and recognizes that they performed a service I could not do for myself. I would definitely hire this service provider again.

We have been an excellent paying customer into our 4 year with Independent. Do NOT use their Tree Service. We signed up for the Tree Service in spring 2015. An application was applied on 4/18/15. Another application applied on 6/10/15. In June I contacted Independent to make sure that my trees between the sidewalk and street were treated. I advised that I sprayed my trees every year before I leave for vacation because the Japanese Beatles try to eat my trees beginning in early July (as I learned 9 years ago the hard way). If they were not protected, I would spray them myself for safety before I left for vacation. I was advised that the trees were treated and safe so I took no further action. I return home from vacation on July 19 only to find that 3 trees had been decimated by Japanese Beatles (40% of each trees? leaves had been eaten). I contacted Independent to express my dismay. They advised that the fact that I had an open balance of $50.00 against my $236.75 of year to date services rendered caused a mix-up and prevented them from coming out to treat my trees again in July. You would have thought that the April and June treatments would have protected the trees and assumed the trees were safe based on my June phone inquiry. I was advised that the 6/10/15 treatment only would have protected the trees from Japanese Beatles for up to 10 days. At this point you'd think that they'd send someone over right away to treat the trees. No such luck and now my trees are 95% decimated. I have been in contact with customer service representatives on several occasions. After conferring with the owner they offered to take $50.00 off of my bill. My position is an offer a $50.00 credit does not mitigate the circumstances of 3 bare trees, combined with the fact that I have spent $1,000 with Independent over the last few years. If I hadn't taken the time call in June verifying that the trees were protected I would not feel so betrayed by the circumstances. I expressed my disappointment to the customer service representative on Friday, Aug 7, who confirmed that $50.00 was all they could offer me. You?d think it would be worth going a little bit further in the interest of customer satisfaction by potentially offering an additional $50.00 off (was I was charged to protect my trees). Looks like the company is short sited enough to risk years of future revenue by not going a little further in an attempt to resolve my concern. UPDATE: Before posting the above information, I provided Independent an opportunity to contact me and discuss a mutually agreeable solution before submitting any review online. They contacted me this this morning. I offered to send this potential posting so they could review my perception of the situation from the eyes of their customer. I asked for $100 (which is what I was charged for the service with the results being 3 decimated trees). They were not interested in reviewing the information and advised that their offer to a waive $50.00.00 charge would off the table off the table if I was going to share my perception of my treatment online. You are seeing this as their business decision was it's not worth $100.00 to rectify and keep my business. This is not about the money. It's about the principal that I did everything in my power to protect my trees, including phone follow-up, and did not receive the results that I was promised. The only bright side to this is I am getting to talk to a lot more of my neighbors walking by, pushing strollers, walking dogs when they stop and ask ?hey, what happened to your trees??

Independent came out and sprayed for mosquito. Several days after, the mosquitoes were still a problem in the backyard. I contacted them and they came back right away and sprayed a second time for free. I have not seen one mosquito since they sprayed the second time. Well worth the cost to enjoy the backyard.

They did fertilization and aeration for our lawn.. Our lawn was in pretty bad shape due to previous owners ignorance. But they did pretty good job and our job is looking better than before.

We hired Independent Lawn Service for mosquito control. We have had limited success at this time but weather has been a challenge.

They called promptly to schedule the appointment. They came without me needing to be there. Thus far, no one's been bitten by mosquitoes.

Was prompt and professional. I have now hired them for other lawn treatments.

I received the first wo of seven applications.. So far, so great!

It went well. Someone from Independent Lawncare called within 15 minutes of me purchasing the special on Angie's list and arranged for a time to do the weed and feed application and the aeration later. They called to confirm when they were coming to do the lawn aeration so I could mark sprinkler heads and control valve covers. They aerated the whole front and back lawns and the lawn looks great! No more Dandelions!

So far, so good. The lawn looks great and only a few stray weeds.

Grass looked and was worse than when they first started treating it. No appointments for treatment were met as scheduled, still had weeds after treatment, and had larger areas of dead grass.

No one ever called again and service was not provided. I had had a terrible experience with the lawn fertilization deal the year before, so I called them before paying and signing up for this service. I was made to believe that they would do a much better job with this service and they agreed to reimburse me for services not provided last year with the lawn fertilization and promised that this service would be done well. Never got another call or saw anyone from there company... When I called them this past week, I was told by the individual who sold the service to me, that of course they couldn't provide the service now because it wouldn't do any good - it's too late in the season?! They also told me that tree and bush deep root fertilization was best done in the fall/not the spring... so why do they sell Spring treatments. Not planning to associated in any manor with this company... unreliable, incompetent and unprofessional. Completely disappointed in how they do; better said, do not do business. Was told that I must request my money back from Angie's List and that will be my next action.

I have since been using them for most of my lawncare and mosquito control. They are prompt, courteous, always call the day before and do a very good job. I highly recommend them.

When we bought this deal, we were really looking forward to the lawn analysis included in this deal. We are new homeowners and don't know much about lawn care. We were hoping someone from this company would come up to our house and we can talk to the expert face to face. However, all we had was talking to one of the sales on the phone and through email. He did not schedule to meet we us and just sent their technicians to our house and did the fertilization and pest control in the middle of a work day. All we got was an invoice with very little notes on it. There's no FULL ANALYSIS of our lawn.

They did a good job and I was very pleased with the work.

It was fine. We have a wooded acre so it is kind of hard. I think it helped. It is just that with our lot it is difficult to get it all, but I do think it helped. I don't remember waiting so if I wanted, it was in just like 2 weeks. We paid additional charges because our lot is bigger and more unusual because it is very wooded but I felt like that was reasonable. They were very responsive.

It worked out pretty well. It was a bit of a let down because they didn't really do the analysis. Unfortunately I felt like our lawn was smaller than most so I don't feel like I got the value that some people got. I probably could of bought the services separately and it would of been cheaper. I have done some work with them since and they have redeemed themselves. They are good, and pretty good at following up.

Everything went well, but the company wants too much money to renew.

It turned out okay. It wasn't great. At least they don’t call every twenty minutes to try and sell me something. It wasn’t that bad. They did what they said they were going to do. Other companies call too much to try to sell me something. We have a large lawn, about two and a half acres, that wasn’t fully covered by the $79 Deal. They worked with us and it came out to be around $150.
