Description of Work: Clean up after sewage back up. Back up was minor. The problem with Belfor was that each time they sent out different men and there appeared to be little serious communication between them. The first group of men moved a lot of furniture and the third group that came had no idea where to put that furniture when the work was complete. Also there was confusion about what fans to use and how long to use them. Consequently, we probably paid more than we should have.

Most of the work was done satisfactorily. The communication was very poor. The project took much longer than estimated. After completion, the appropriate paperwork was not submitted to our insurance company, so we are still waiting for the final billing - almost six months later. The entire process was much more difficult than it should have been.
Description of Work: Restoration of 3/4 of our home due to flood damage. Drywall replacement, painting, plumbing, flooring, carpet.

The entire process took longer than we would have liked, but I understand this is the case when going between insurance companies and contractors. The work was completed well, and the project manager was responsive to our requests and our needs. Since then, we have not receive our final billing, nor has our insurance company. Some of the work was not as good as the rest. The overall quality is pretty good, but the communication has been poor.
Description of Work: The provider restored our house back to its original state, before it flooded.

I received an initial estimate from Coach's that totaled $300.00 After they performed the work, they called me and revised the total down to $165.00. I appreciate their professionalism and reducing the cost. Steve, the installer. was a great guy!
Description of Work: A neighbor's malfunctioning sump pump caused minor flooding in my finished basement. Carpet pads were damaged. They replaced the carpet pads and re-installed the carpet.

They were excellent. They did a great job. The insurance company took care of the costs. They were friendly and completed the work they said they would do. They were on time and prompt. They cleaned up well and were conscientious. They did what they said they were going to do.
Description of Work: Coach's Restoration LLC completed clean up from a flood in our kitchen. They were referred to us by our insurance company. They ripped out the carpeting and flooring. They took out all the moisture in our floors and cupboards. They ripped out our cupboards and packed all our belongings away and removed them for us.

This company will attempt to scare you to death about deadly molds, and spend large amounts of money. Go to the EPA.gov or Centers for Disease Control website and you will learn a *lot*: there are molds all around. My basement did NOT have any deadly molds, or even a mold problem, and they were talking about tearing out drywall and so on and refused to come back until I had spent thousands at second party mold testers (the official websites also refute such services). The neighbor kid and I cleaned this up, and sprayed bleach solution afterwards, and we have no sign of mold and no smells. One caution: if you are immunosupressed or have a KNOWN mold allergy you will want to worry about it. Mold is, however, everywhere, and will only show itself if conditions of humidity and temperature are correct. They suggested I do exactly the wrong thing in terms of ventilation and the like for the situation I had.
Description of Work: Brought in industrial strength de-humidifier. Assessed situation following a flood.

To Angie’s List members: We are very sorry that the member was not satisfied with our recommendations. While she is partially accurate about the information from those websites, she is not accurate on the appropriate standard of care to be expected from a professional company in our industry. We were called to her home for a water damage issue and found that there was active mold growth significant enough that we could not recommend simple maintenance cleaning. Our company follows the industry standard of care for assessment and remediation of mold issues as contained in the Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation S-520, 3rd Edition, 2006. This document is published by the International Institute for Cleaning and Restoration Certification (iicrc.org). We did recommend that she contact an indoor environmental professional who we have found to be both technically competent and reasonably priced for doing an assessment of the hazard, sampling to determine the extent of contamination, and writing a reasonable recommendation of remediation scope that can be followed by the homeowner or a professional company doing the work. Our company policy is to not do extensive drying or remediation in an active mold environment, which could make the situation worse. We require a report from an indoor environmental professional that establishes the extent of the problem and a safety protocol before work begins. This is the only way to assure clients that our work in removing the mold has been accurate and complete. We hope that readers here can understand that we, as a professional company, cannot recommend that a client use a “neighbor kid” to clean up any mold problem. What private citizens do in their own homes is their right and they ultimately will take responsibility for the results. Again, we are sorry that our company’s and the industry’s standard of care was not effectively communicated or understood.

The crews sent out by Coach's were friendly, courteous, prompt and thorough with the drying and cleaning process. I would give them my highest recommendation for their know-how and excellent service.
Description of Work: Below grade family room, bedroom and half bath were flooded by a drain incapable of handling 4 inches of water in 2 hours. Bedrooms are carpeted and the family room floor is cherry finished oak. I had already vacuumed 12 gallons of water from the carpets before the crew of Coach's arrived. They came at 3:15 p.m. and were finished setting up the equipment for the drying process to begin at 10:30 p.m. They returned on the 16th, 17th and 23rd to check on the drying process and were able to remove the equipment at that time and to replace baseboards and trim. It was nothing short of a miracle that they were able to save the hardwood floor as it is layed over concrete and had soaked up a great deal of water. They returned later to shampoo the carpets, return an area rug that had been cleaned and move the furniture back from the living room to the family room.

I contacted Coach's on July 28 about cleaning an area rug. Rug covers a hardwood floor, so they only clean it in their shop. It costs $35.00 (each way) for Coach's to pick up and deliver the rug. On July 31, I brought the area rug into them (20-mins from my home). Sharon at the front desk was polite and asked about any stains or problems that should be dealt with. I was told the work should be completed by the end of the week, and someone would contact me. No one called me. I called on Aug. 8 and was told the cleaning always takes 10 business days, and someone would call. No one called. I called on Aug. 15 and was told my rug was delayed because there had been an emergency clean-up for an office/business and those clean-ups always had priority, but my rug should be completed shortly. I called on Aug. 21 and was told my rug would be ready the next day. I picked up my rug on Aug. 22. Cost: $35.00 and it was very clean, like new. But, a frustrating experience, so I probably won't hire them again.

I contacted Coach's on 7/31. Service-person came to my home on 8/2, arriving close to the scheduled time of 9:30. The service-person checked materials of sofa (and did a patch test), and said that due to natural materials and light coloring, he could not use any strong cleaning agents on fabric. He laid down some rags and proceeded to steam-clean sofa. He had trouble with the hose and had to stop and repair it for about 15 mins. The discolorations on sofa were still very noticeable when he finished. He acknowledged it was only about 50% cleaner, but said that given fabric, it was the best it could get, and it would lighten up after fabric dried. Total time: approx. 95 mins. He also steam-cleaned a side chair and ottoman. When the sofa dried, it didn't look any cleaner than before. I called Coach's and the service-person returned within 2 days and re-did the sofa free of charge. This time he used a cleaning agent along with the steam, and the result was very nice. Experience was OK, I may use Coach's again
Description of Work: Cleaning a cream-colored 90-inch cotton twill sofa, a dark-brown cotton twill side chair and ottoman. The sofa had some discolorations and dark spots from pet.
