 + -1 moreGreg had come out in November to look at our ducts and discussed with us different options for using semi-rigid duct which we wanted for a new dryer. He came back this month and was able to make the adjustments we needed, and did an excellent job. We would DEFINITELY use this company again!

 + -1 moreThe technician arrived late outside our guaranteed service window. He also worked up an invoice for close to $380 and said the job could be done in 25 minutes. That's over $700 per hour for parts and labor. Lowes was able to do the same install with our new dryer for less than $75.

 + -1 moreI found Dryer Vent Wizard through an internet search, but I hired them after I checked out their good reviews on Angie's List. My washer and dryer are in the basement, and the dryer vents through a glass block, basement window. The exterior, louvered dryer vent was old and not opening and closing properly. I purchased my own dryer vent cover because it is an odd size and shape. Mark, the installer, was a hard worker, and he arrived for my 9 a.m. appointment early (which I appreciated). He was able to install the new vent cover in addition to a new dryer vent hose that was fire resistant. He was nice enough to secure the dryer vent to the basement wall so that it stayed in position. He arrived on time, did the job, and cleaned up after himself. What more could I ask for? I would use dryer vent wizard again. My only complaint was the the price ($250) was a little higher than I anticipated, especially since I purchased my own dryer vent cover. The company was not currently offering Angie's List discounts. But, the technician worked diligently for over an hour, and it was better than doing it myself. I recommend them!

 + -1 moreI called the company first thing in the morning after using the dryer the night before and smelling something awful. They had someone out within three hours. My hunch that a mouse crawled in through the outside vent opening proved to be right. The serviceman cleaned the entire vent, repaired the inside connection and removed the dead mouse that had crawled all the way into the dryer. He then cleaned it up with bleach and the smell was gone immediately. He even recommended a cage that can be purchased to place over the vent which I have yet to do.
Description of Work: Removed a dead mouse (yuck!) from the dryer vent and repaired connection.

 + -1 moreWe paid for cleaning of the drier vent through an Angie's List "Big Deal". It turned out this was just a "rip-off"!! At first, they said that the company had changed ownership, and they could not honor the "Big Deal". After i complained, they said they would honor the $89.00 deal. When they arrived, they claimed the pipe from the drier was defective and needed to be repaired. They claimed this would cost $310.00. This is a ridiculous price to repair an "elbow Joint" with a small leak. I later fixed it myself with Duct Tape. They then refused to clean the vent unless we agreed to the repair (at a cost which was totally ridiculous). The part that was needing replacement costs less than $10.00 and is easily replaced in 10 minutes. They then claimed they could not clean the vent because we would not pay for the repair, and finally left. They kept my $89.00 and I received no service. These people are just not honest. Never hire them to do any work. I trust that Angie's List will either return my $89.00, or find a contractor who is honest and will do the work they are paid to do.
Description of Work: The technician tried to tell my wife that repairs were required which would cost $310.00. They then refused to clean the vent unless we agreed to the added cost. It turned out the repair was minor, could be fixed with Duct Tape. Cleaning the vent had nothing to do with the small problem. They were paid by Angie's List, but they did not do the work they were paid to do. These people are not professional. Stay Away !!!

 + -1 moreThey were right on time with the visit. He checked the basement and both of my dryers. He stated the my ribbed metal tubing to the outside was OK but it could be better. He then went outside and took a power brush and went down both of the vents/tubes. A lot of lint came out the tubes/vents. He then left. On my first time using the dryer, I notice there was a lot of moisture in the basement. During the time the brushes were snaked down the tubing from the outside, the tubing was pulled away from outside vent, causing vent to discharge in the house. I called the company and they immediately corrected the problem. At that time, I decided to change one dryer to the sheet metal rather that the ribbed metal I had. That cost was approx. $90.00. Angies list cost for the first visit on one dryer was around $80.00 and then I added the other dryer for about $110.00. The response to the customer needs was excellent. Both times they came to the house they were very professional. I may check around next time due to the price.

 + -1 moreService was fine. The company is now trying to add more fees. There were not any extra activities or add ons. I would not recommend this company. AMENDED REVIEW The company responded within 24 hours and apologized for the confusion. There were no extra fees involved.
Description of Work: Tech was professional and timely. Explained process and cleaned vent with success. Very pleased with service. However, I have received a phone call from the company stating that a $39 service fee was NOT included in the Angie's list coupon. This was never discussed when making the appointment or when the tech came to the house and confirmed the Angie's list coupon # or when the bill of sale was signed. I will not use this company again for this reason. They are contacted me 11 days after the sevice and approximately 2 weeks after the intial contact for making the appointment. AMENDED REVIEW The company responded within 24 hours and apologized for the confusion. There are no extra fees involved.

And He Still Has to come back with a tool to to inlarge Hole in wood and replace w/ 4" pipe, and charge me $89.00. I am still waiting for them to get back to me.  + -1 moreExcellent! Will use Dryer Vent Wizard again for annual dryer vent cleanings.
Description of Work: I contacted the Dyer Vent Wizard to clean my dryer vent. I purchased the $100 special. Once the technician arrived, he assessed the duct work that led to the dryer. I have approximately 18-20 feet routed through the first floor laundry room to the basement and then venting outside. There was a small portion of the vent ducts, approximately 7-8 feet with several bends that was the flexible ducting which the builder installed. It is my understanding that this type of ducting is not the best for durability or safety. The technician recommended that we replace that area with the solid ducting to prevent any future lint buildup as long as the dryer vent ducting was cleaned yearly. The technician gave us a price of $230.00 for materials and labor. Although, my husband & I thought that the price seemed a little high, we went ahead with having it replaced. We didn't want to have any more issues with lint build up or much worse have a dryer fire. Once the technician took down the flexible ducting, he found that it was loaded with lint. We are very happy that we decided to have the additional work done. Now all we have to do is have our dryer vent ducting cleaned annually and we shouldn't have any additional lint build up problems. I would also like to point out that I did have the dryer vent ducting cleaned out last year by another company. Based on the amount of build up I do not feel that the previous company did a sufficient job at cleaning the dryer vent ducting. The privious company drilled small holes every so many inches and put a hose in the ducts to suck out the lint. This process did not clean the walls of the ducting. Dryer Vent Wizard uses a special tool that brushes through the ducting while spinning and therefore cleans the entire duct. Also, the technician was very professional and knowledgeable. Dryer Vent Wizard specializes in cleaning dryer vents. I would highly recommend them.

 + -1 moreIt was a great experience from start to finish. I don't know about anyone else, but cleaning my dryer vent is not something I think about very often. In fact, it had not been cleaned for many more years than I would ever admit! So when I got the email from Angies List offering a fantastic price to get this chore done, I instantly called and purchased their services. The person I dealt with on the phone to make an appointment was very polite and courteous. I explained that we would be out of town for several weeks but the person assured me that was fine, they could set up our appointment for when we got back. So on the morning of the scheduled appointment, we had a medical emergency and had to rush to the hospital at 8 am. I did not remember we had the appointment with Dryer Vent Wizard and am sorry to say I didn't even call them. When we got back home later that afternoon, there was a polite message on our phone saying they were at our house for the scheduled appointment and were sorry to have missed me. I called the office immediately to apologize and reschedule. They were very understanding and kind and set up a new appointment for the next week. So today the technician showed up on time and I was here. He was very polite and very easy to talk to. He was very thorough in checking out our dryer system and answered all my questions patiently. I would (and WILL) recommend this company to my family, friends and neighbors. I've put their phone number on the list I keep of contractors I intend to use again.
Description of Work: The pleasant young man from Dryer Vent Wizard of Oakland County came out and cleaned our dryer vent. He did a very thorough of the dryer vent hook-up, looked at the venting for it that runs through our basement and also checked the outdoor vent. He explained everything that he was doing and answered all my questions.

 + -1 moreEric (?) arrived on a the appointment date on time - unfortunately, it was a snowy/stormy day and dangerous to use a ladder to get to duct access from outside. Very easy to reschedule based on my availability. Came back two days later when weather was better, cleaned the ducts, cleaned up everything, was quiet, professional, and courteous. Would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Dryer Vent Duct cleaned from outside as well as from inside entry. There was NO cleaning of the actual lint catcher space in the dryer itself.
