Field came the first call after I said there was a leak after the winter. They told me that the packing in the valve was bad. I'm absolutely convinced they did not fully check this as when I came back to check out the work the full house filter was leaking along with a leak in the wall. I mean it was my fault for not keeping the heating on 40 degrees during a spell when I was not there but by the time they came to check the first time the house was sitting at 50 degrees as it had been for me for the days I was there before they came. So the second time they came out it was decided we would re plumb the hole house. Again no worries from my side it was my bad, but that was after they screwed up the first time so I was a little reluctant giving them a second shot but I figured they had good ratings on Angie's List they must be good. So a two day job was quoted, they did compensate me for the first go around which was the right thing to do. Anyway they did a nice job plumbing the house. It only took one day though but the price was the same. They never cleaned up the drywall after they finished. There was an empty chew bottle in the master bedroom but on my nightstand but there is no plumbing within 50 feet of that room. Did they sleep on the job in my room?? They never checked the garage plumbing. There was a leak on the heater coil of the garage sink, luckily I had to pop to the garage for something otherwise it would have been flooded. That's my story I hope you have better luck.
Description of Work: Re plumbed my house after a winter leak problem. The heating was accidently left off and there was an extended cold snap.

Called for an estimate on some minor and major work. I was delighted when Chip showed up the next day and took the particulars. Then we waited. One week later, he came (late) with an estimate for some of the work, not all. I asked him about a different project. He promised to get back to us with the completed first estimate and the second one. Received one phone call and then nothing. I then called Great Lakes Plumbing. They came to give an estimate for the minor work and did the work immediately.
Description of Work: Estimate requested.

Whenever I need anything done, they make sure it happens according to plan. They are neat and always take their shoes off or wear buddies. If they do not know something, they tell me, find out about it and come and fix it. I have had some challenging problems but they were able to handle it. The staff were good.
Description of Work: They come every spring and fall and do preventive maintainence on my house. They installed a big-in-home generator where when lights go off, it is turned on immediately. The best thing they have done is they installed a Geo-thermal system and water heater. They did 4 zones heating in my house.

I have used this provider for a number of years. They put in my a/c and my furnace a couple of years back. They have made numerous "emergency" trips out here to help me when my old furnace was ill. I never was pressured to spend money I did not have.
Description of Work: Installed new a/c.

Of course the cost was not $.01 but that is not a fair thing to add to this review as each home/case is different. Geothermal is more expensive than other types of heating/cooling, but in the long run, it will pay for itself. We are commited to living on our farm for the long term and one of our children will likely end up here as well, so this was a good decision for us. I know our home was a challenge for anyone because of all the old and various runs and additions, but Field P/H treated our home as if it were their own and made sure we were getting the best result. There were some minor issues at first, but they were able to engineer the solutions. We had all kinds of ceilings, sheetmetal runs and walls for them to work with and I am pleased they found a way no matter what. The owner provided us with the information for us to receive a tax credit for the geothermal. They had all the information for our CPA to use to apply it to our return. This company has been in business since like 1961. The owner's father started it and Ken Field has run it for like 20 some years. We now have on order a large generator Field Plumbing and Heating is going to install for us. Will post the result of that install.
Description of Work: Geothermal Heating Cooling System Baird Heat pump installation and connection to the loop Closed loop installation Installed Honeywell 8 zoned controls and auto open/close vents Wireless Honeywell thermostadts for each zone Online Redlink internet monitoring and controling from our Iphones Geothermal Water heater We have a home that was built in the 1930's, Completely upgraded in 1950's. The original michigan basement was remodeled in 1982. We added on 2 large additions in 2000 and 2013. This home has gone from a coal gravity furnace, to oil forced air furnace to electric heat, to a wood burning/oil furnace to a large capicity 3 zoned Heating/Cooling outdoor Trane unit to our present wonderful Geothermal HVAC system Field Plumbing and Heating carefully configured and installed for us. So we were no simple puzzle to work out. From the start, We received a very through review of our existing home's HVAC and what would be necessary for upgrading to a geothermal closed loop system. Our home is large and an 8 zoned system was proposed where we have 4 zones on our main floor, 3 in our basement and a slave zone in our small area upstairs bedroom. The controls to open and close the dampers on each zone were installed in our existing forced air runs. Field Plumbing and Heating subcontracted a firm out of Michigan that specializes in digging and installing the closed loop. They were very careful and efficient in installing and charging the loop with just the right ph of fluid. Our combined electric/Propane bill has been reduced to a single electric bill since we no longer need the propane. Our home stays nice and warm in the winter without the forced air blasts of heat then cooling off and blasts of heat regular furnaces give. In the summer, we are nice and cool. We also had Field Plumbing and Heating install a new geothermal water heater. They used our existing water heater to pull the water from the well and that allowed the water to get to room temp. They then hooked the geothermal water heater to pull the water when needed from our old water heater that was just a storage device at this point. The Geothermal water heater used the air from the basement, also acting as a dehumidifier, to heat the water to the desired temp. The owner was involved in overseeing the operation and the installation service persons always removed or covered their shoes when entering the home. They installed strong runs of paper cover over my basement floor to protect it. They worked in some cramped spaces to save our living space and we really appreciated that. The owner and installation persons kept us abreast of what they were doing and why. They have us on a service contract where they tune and clean our system a couple times a year; Very satisfied customer.
