Well, I WISH the windows were installed. I signed a contract on June 24th for 10 windows to be replaced and installed. I was given such a price that I expanded that to include my entire 150+ year old house - 23 windows in all - just five days later. I was told installation would be mid September. When I hadn't heard anything back, I called September 1st to get a progress report and informed them I would be out of the country from Sep 29 to Oct 8. I was informed they were backlogged and Sept install was now out of the question, but mid October looked good when I was due to return. When I did return, I called and was told they were still backlogged and I shouldn't expect anything until early November, and, frankly, was snapped at by a rude office woman when I expressed my concern. In late Oct i was informed they were installing contracts signed in mid June and I should be on track for mid November. On Nov 4 I was told they were installing contracts signed at the end of June, and Nov 9 when I called I was snapped at by the same woman who could offer me no date and was told "We're doing the best that we can," in an exceptionally condescending tone. Obviously I sit here almost five months after signing a contract with a large cash down payment and no windows. Their word appears to be worthless. There have made no attempts to make this right, merely a STFU and we'll get to you when we feel like it attitude. I am retired and have offered to swing a hammer or do whatever is necessary to expedite the process to no avail. Today I found it necessary to file a complaint with the BBB and State Attorney General's office for consumer fraud. Avoid these people like the plague!

I would never recommend them to anyone else and I will never do business with them again. All I wanted was a storm door I didn't want a whole unit.
Description of Work: I use Window World of Lansing for door services. I ordered a storm door from them on the forth of December 20014, paid a deposit of half down and the owner was suppose to come re measure it and he came and he wanted to sell me an indoor and an outdoor door and I couldn't afford the indoor and I didn't want to replace that anyway so then the guy that wrote up the paper work told me 5 to 6 weeks well it got to be the 28th of January 2015 and still no door, so I called them they never returned my call. I called them again in February they still didn't return my call and I told them i wanted my check back so I could do business with somebody else, never heard from them. Sixteenth of March I went over there and they were closed and they sent me back my cheque and a copy of the order on the 23rd of March and I spent all winter without the door I had ordered and put a deposit down on. So evidently the guy wanted to do an inside door and an outside door and if it wasn't going to be done he wasn't going to be done his way he wasn't going to do it at all.

I'm a DIYer, so this was the first time I've contracted anyone to make improvements on my home. The initial salesman came to my house to give me an overview of their products and services. He was new, so the owner came by later to make sure that all went well. James (the owner) was great -- he was very patient, personable, and helpful. When going over the contract, we had discovered that a number of necessary services were not covered (because the initial salesman did not know/did not convey that these were important -- for example, that spray foam needed to be included, at a certain price per window). Instead of adding to my charges, James offered these services free-of-charge, which I thought was very impressive, especially since there was a decent number of mistakes on my contract. Overall, I felt great about the process after talking with James. The installation date came right on schedule, and James and Cindy (the other owner) were in relatively close contact with me at that point, leaving voicemails with updates on the process. The crew came and the installation lasted about 3 or 4 hours. The guys were polite and neat overall. However, after they left, I noticed that one of the screens was bent, and that the spray foam had split my 100-year-old trim! So I called and requested a new screen, and a couple weeks later they returned to the house to make the repairs. I actually waited to report the split trim, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to trust them to fix it. I was more inclined to tackle it myself, but my partner kept pestering me, saying that "they messed it up, so they should fix it!" Watching them try to repair the trim was TERRIFYING. The project manager was somewhat impatient and unprofessional with me, because I kept pleading for them to scrape out the insulation from the outside so that they wouldn't have to mess with the trim. Looking back, I wish I had been more firm with him, because I'm not satisfied with the end product in this spot. They were pulling on the trim and scraping and, instead of removing the side trim piece (that originally unscrewed to open up the hollow place for the weights), they chipped away at it to access the problem-area. I didn't know this until after they had left, and the caulk was piled up to "hide" the damaged wood. Luckily, the trim is painted. I keep reminding myself that I got a h*** of a deal, so I shouldn't complain about the one window (although it is the first thing you see when you walk in the house). And overall, I am really happy with the windows and with the owners' professionalism.

The work did not start upon the agreed date nor did it start on various re-negotiated dates. Window Wall actually subcontracted our siding job to another company (signed a contract with the other company) but never told the 2nd company that they were breaking the contract with them. A long, loud, unpleasant verbal argument occurred in our driveway and yard between the two companies. The large dumpster sat in upon our lawn from the second date. The large dumpster killed the grass below it and left huge ruts in our yard as it was replaced and removed. The dumpster was dropped and dragged out of the yard leaving large, long ruts. Andrew Puchkov and his superintendent contradicted each other regarding how they would the correct the yard problems. The siding was installed and removed up to 5 times on some areas of the house. The corners did not match up and were up to 5 inches off in some areas. Andrew and his superintendent stopped returning calls and would not come to our job.
Description of Work: Window World contracted with us in conjunction with another company (also owned by Andrew Puckhov at the same 5920 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48911 address) to side our house with vinyl shake siding and to install an eight foot tall window. The work site was to be kept neat and cleaned up at the end of each days work. When it become so evident that the work was not going to be completed properly, we fired both of Andrew's companies and hired an attorney. The job was suppose to start in June and we fired them in October. We should have terminated these companies much earlier but we believed the excuses that Andrew, his superintendent and office staff gave us. Window World and his other company hire day laborers that do not know construction or carpentry. Some of the workers did not even have their own tools and used ours. Because the workers had to keep taking off the siding they could not match up the already cut pieces and needed to reorder siding many times.

Response from Window World of Lansing
I would like introduce myself, my name is James Hindman, the owner of the Window World of Lansing. I have been with Window World for over 5 years, in multple capacities, and have never been apart of that lack of service. With that said, it was disturbing to read your report and I understand your dissatisfaction with the communication and delivery of our product. I do apologize for the lack of service you received in 2007 from Window World in Lansing! The previous owner did not represent Window World with the level of customer satisfaction we are committed to delivering our customers. And, in the best interest of both parties it was decided to part their business relationship. In the beginning of 2012, I decided to move back to MI, were I was raised to open the Window World of Lansing. My wife(CIndy) and I are very committed in providing our customers with the highest level of customer service that our company was founded on. We will provide superior products, with professional craftmanship at a guaranteed low price. That is our promise! To ensure quailty installation, I use my own installers-with over 10 years with Window World. And, 25+ years in our industry! Again, reading your report was disturbing! Unfortunately, I can't change your experience in 2007, but if you should consider Window World again for any home improvement project you will have a different experience. If I can personally do anything for you. Please feel free to contact me at 517.371.0189 or email me at lansing@windowworld.com. Regards James Hindman
