These people not only were unprofessional, they were also extremely rude! My husband & I bought a house & had the seller jet the sewer lines before closing, then a week after moving into the house, about 6 weeks after "cleaning out the sewage line," we had sewage back up into our basement. We were told the work was warrantied, so they came out to take care of it & apparently found a bunch of baby wipes in the sewage line. We have a baby, but why on earth would we flush wipes down the toilet? That's stupid! (We roll up the used wipes into the diapers & throw them in the diaper genie like any sane human being.) But according to the plumber, if we have a baby, & we have wipes, that means we flushed them. Did not matter how many times I explained there's no way we would do that, they just kept accusing us, saying "well SOMEONE did," & because of the wipes, they charged us $176 for what should have just been warranty work. When the worker, John, gave me the receipt he said "just remember, no flushing baby wipes in the future." He also said he cleaned up the drain where sewage had backed up, but I checked once he left & there was literally still waste around the drain & in the pipe leading to the drain. I called the office to complain, & the guy I spoke to, Bruce, was even more rude than John. He said "let it be a $176 lesson, in my opinion." I would prefer that lesson be taught to those responsible, not us, & said I was upset they kept accusing us, & Bruce said "no one's accusing you," but just a minute before he had said "you've got the baby, you've got the wipes, you tell me!" I mentioned not liking the comment made when John left & Bruce just brushed it off like well, it is what it is. I complained about the state that the drain was left in & Bruce said "well John is very thorough." Ok, well I literally have photographic evidence of how "thorough" he is. So now I have to find someone to come clean the waste out & sanitize the area, because I don't want these people back in my house. If this is their definition of clean, I don't for a second believe it was actually truly & properly cleaned out the first time. My house smells like sewage more now than it did before they came. It's one thing having to pay for a service, but if they had to charge me, the least they could've done was actually clean the area. If this is how they run their business, it's deplorable. People I've told about this said "they saw you had a baby & figured it was a good way to take advantage of you."

Jason from Tri County Plumbing is the BEST! We have used him and his services for many years, and are new to Angie's list and felt it was time to let the world know how great they are!! We have had many services rendered including, addition rough ins, garbage disposal and sink installation, clogged drains, toilet repair and installation. He has always come within 2 days or less of us calling and always solved our problem without breaking the bank. He is clean, polite, professional and someone we always trust in our home. I highly recommend them to everyone!

They arrived to unplug the kitchen sink drain. Their equipment was poor and very inadequate. When it didn't clear in the kitchen, they started pulling my basement water pipes apart which created a mess in my basement as well as the one they had created in my kitchen. I ended up firing them, and at least they had the grace not to charge me. But they left the fittings on the water pipes loose, so my mess was made much worse by the flooding that was caused by them. I would definitely not recommend them for this work.

Jason did not keep his word to replace the lift pump for only labor charges. It is unacceptable.
Description of Work: Jason installed a new lift pump in June of 2012. It failed just past the one-year warranty. This resulted in a flooded finished basement. First call to Jason was excellent. He apologized and said that the pump should have lasted much longer. He said that he would replace the lift pump for only labor charges. Second call was a message that John received. He forwarded my message to Jason.. When I talked to, he reneged and said, "I won't eat a pump." Obviously, I will never do biseiness with them ever again. Jason next, he waffled saying that he needed to check with his secretary to make sure they had installed the pump and would call me today. When I called him, the waffling continued. I was very direct with him reminding him of his promise. He said,"I won't eat a pump".

Description of Work: They cleared a bad sewer backup that had left a mess in the basement. The only problem was that they are a small company and the plumber who came did not have all of the necessary tools with him at the time (this turned out to be more complicated than your usual root issue), so additional trips were needed. However, they stayed with the original estimate, even though they spent far more time than initially predicted. Eventually they had to get to the clog by coming from the connection at the street. I will call them back to do routine line checks for roots to prevent this problem again. I do recommend them to others.

John showed up at the time promised and took about half an hour to pull out the toilet, fix the leak, put it back, and clean up. We haven't had any signs of leakage since. We've used Tri-County any time we've needed a plumber since moving into this house 10 years ago. They have always responded promptly, been open about the options, and generally been the type of service people you hope to find, but rarely do.

Had sewer back up from old cracked clay pipes and tree roots. Not a pleasant thing! ... but also not unexpected from a 100 year-old house. This year we called and quot;Discount Drainand quot; to clean out the line but they struggle (with no results) and told us to and quot;call the cityand quot;... Guess they had and quot;discountand quot; equipment. So, I went to Angie’s List read reviews and called Tri-County Plumbing. John came out in within 2 hours with a mean looking saw type cutter tip that fixed what Budget Rooter flexible and quot;Cand quot; tip could not. I also asked John what he would estimate to replace the cracked sewer lines that are in the old part of our basement. A job that I've been dreading to have done due to the mess and cost of breaking into cement and hand excavating then replacing the old lines. He estimated it would cost about $900-$1000 for 12 ft. I thought that was a great price and will consider for next year. He also suggested we might want to scope the line to the street where the tree roots are getting in and rather than digging up the yard he could could patch farther out with a type of “fiberglass angioplasty”. Inflating a ring of flexible fiberglass at the break that seals from within. Sounds like a great option. This process fix the problem and save the offending (but beautiful) mature tree in the front of our house. I liked that John was quick to answer my call, identified the problem easily, was comfortable talking to a woman and was great at answering questions and offering options.

I have called on two different plumbing companies for estimates and neither would perform as much as Tri County Plumbing for a low price. This will be done next month. I do not know which will be done first it depends if I have a sewer backup or not. If so the pipe will be raised first but if not the other things will get done first.
Description of Work: Got estimation of cost to raise 18 ft. pipe in basement to be level with both ends of piping. The estimated cost was $3,750.00 which was to replace all underground plumbing including concrete, removal and replacement including setting toilet and lavatory. Other company only gave estimation of $5,000.00 for the digging up of basement and raising pipe and covering with cement and did not include other work this company offered for a lower price. This company also gave us a second estimation to install laudry pan and connection pipe, connection of water line for ice maker in refrigerator, connection of dishwasher, and check all drains and faucets and jets in whirlpool tub to make sure there were no leaks and that everything worked properly for a price of $575.00.

See above for most of story. John was extremely courteous but has a great sense of humor as we talked and he answered my questions. John was not sure the problem was entirely fixed and said he may have to come back and do more if the problem continued. The dishwasher problem was totally solved but about 3 weeks later the laundry back-up problem started again. I was not surprised as John had prepared me for further possible problems. When I'm able I'll have him return, knowing that it will probably involve more and cost more as well. The house is more than 100 years old and has been somewhat neglected at times so no wonder she's having problems now!
Description of Work: Laundry and dishwasher water backing up into bathroom and kitchen drains respectively, unable to clear them with over the counter drain openers. Tri-County, John specifically, was recommended by an excellent contractor. He disconnected the dishwasher and cleaned out that drain (full of gunk!), flushed the kitchen drains and all was good. Then he turned to the washer problem, snaked the outflow pipe with no obstruction, then asked where the outside sewer pipe was. I had absolutely no idea, even living in the house for 24 yrs had never know there was such a thing. However John did find it, snaked it to the street, brought back some roots and more gunk. Ran the washer half-full of water several times, water did not back up into bathroom sink and no rotten smell either!

2 He did a very good job explaining what had to be done when home was owned. What jobs would have to be performed and the costs. It is very important that people explain up front what the costs will be to do a job and not get there and say "oh by the way you will have to pay $$ for this service."
Description of Work: Performed plumbing inspection on house . Checked water pressure with his meter which was 100 lbs. because the home is winterized to protect sewer pipes from freezing. But Jason did say when we had ownership of home he would come out and do a camera check which would run $253.55 because downstair shower was clogged. Also, to see if tree roots had anything to do with problem. At that time he would check all plumbing in kitchen, baths, laundries and check all pipes. Also mentioned the main floor laundry had to be hooked up had no pipe into the basement to drain which he gave an estimation of $75.00.

We tried to clear the clog by ourselves with an auger and with liquid drain cleaner to no avail. Decided to call Tri-county in our local city giude to help us out. I was mostly concerned about getting someone to come out a.s.a.p. because we were supposed to leave town. Seeing as it was a Saturday, I wasn't expecting to get anyone to come out in a hurry for a reasonable price, but Tri-County did. They were here within 45 minutes of our call, most of which was travel time since they are located a ways away from our house. I was given a quote over the phone and the service cost exactly what the quote was. They kept things clean, performed the service quickly and explained what the issue was. We would definitely use them in the future.
Description of Work: We had two toilets and a tub drain all clogged at the same time due to a massive amount of toilet paper from a young child jammed in the waste line. Tri-County came and "jetted" out the main line in our crawl space to clear out the clog.

They eventually got the job done, but when I had problems later, they would not return, despite having "guaranteed" the job for one year. I made three appointments with Jason, and he did not show up for any of them. The shower tiles are cracking, and there is a bad odor. I will have to start all over, despite the fact that the shower was never the problem.
Description of Work: I had a bathroom leak. They convinced me to re-tile the shower, but that was not the problem. They then tried to convince me to rip out my entire kitchen ceiling. I did tear out small sections, but they were not the problem either. Finally found and fixed a leak in the wall behind the bathroom.
