I can't say enough good things about Phil and his team. I moved to a family farm house built in about 1880. Phil had done a small job for me in my previous home. I was happy with that job, so I called him to help with the farm. This is a difficult home to work in. Nothing is square, nothing is plumb, and there is crumbling plaster/lathe, etc. The plaster was peeling badly, so we agreed to go over it with drywall and lovely wood crown moulding. The result is perfection. Phil suggested closing off one door that was in an odd position, and the result is fantastic. He was able to have bead board replicated, and it is almost impossible to see where the old bead board ends and the new begins. My remodeled rooms are beautiful. The next project was a gut remodel of my horrible old farm kitchen. The design involved relocating windows, HVAC, plumbing, completely new cabinets and granite, a lovely island, farm sink, tile backsplash, scraped hickory hardwood, etc. The interior and exterior spaces are perfect and beyond belief. I am posting photos, but they don't do the work justice. Nobody who has seen the work who had previously seen the home can believe it! The projects were expensive, and you get what you pay for. Every time I called or emailed, Phil responded immediately. I think I probably drove him nuts, but he was always gracious, professional, and able to accommodate my requests. I would always go back to RL Rider. No question, no hesitation.
Description of Work: Design, remodel/reconfigure rooms; drywall, crown moulding, paint; complete kitchen gut remodel in old farm house.

Paint peeled only in those areas where the original paint was tightly bonded at the time of scraping and painting. The Michigan home was closed up shortly after being painted, not heated or lived in shortly after the work was completed and consequently moisture built up in the home and proceeded to escape thru the wall structure causing the orginal painted surfaces (those surfaces bonded to wood siding at time of painting) to peel. The new paint that was bonded to original wood stayed on the siding and the old paint peeled. Paint investigator experts reviewed the structure and found no fault with the paint, the painting procedure or process. In a court action to collect balance of money owed, the judge found, based on documented evidence, client had no claim for faulty work and had to pay the money owed. This is the problem with Angies List. Customers can say what they want, even if the claims are unfounded.

There was only one screw up. I designed the room and the guy that was doing the construction didn't believe the plans as far as the height of the door. It turned out that the plans were right and he was wrong. It didn't really make a lot of difference besides the interior trim that I had laid out, we had to do a little more adding on to the trim. But they did a good job, it has windows all the way around and a tile floor.
Description of Work: We had a 14' x 12' 4 seasons/sun room added to the house back in '96.
