J&L Restoration is a "preferred contractor" for our insurance company. When our duplex was damaged in a storm, they referred us to J&L... and it was a positive experience. They had to remove and replace all of the roofing, siding, eavestroughs & downspouts . They handled all of the paperwork for the insurance company and the mortgage company, and met us at our home for document signing so we weren't inconvenienced at all. There was excellent communication from Jeff and his staff throughout the process, the job was done quickly, and we are pleased with the results.

They were absolutely fantastic. They were so kind and so willing to work with me. I am disabled and they did everything for me. Anytime I wanted to talk to someone about how the project was going they were always able to talk. They actually made the 1950’s style doors I had damaged for a significantly lower price than what other companies were asking. I could not recommend them enough!
Description of Work: I live on a college campus and had a drunken person destroy my front and back door and my home insurance company recommended I contact J and L restoration to have it fixed.

NOT a fan...The insurance company sent out this company. A woman called me to set up an appointment and, when I asked a question about the length of time for completion, I was put on hold for about ten minutes. I eventually hung up. One would expect a call back since she called me, and she was the one to put me on hold for that long. Nope. I ended up emailing the owner, Jeff Johnson. He told me they could schedule me two weeks out, which was interesting because the woman who called had told me they would be out the following week. The appointment was scheduled for 9 AM. I never received a phone call the night before or even that AM to confirm. Shortly after 9 AM on the day of the appointment, I received a call from Jeff explaining that the workman was running late and should be here around 9:30 because he had to get some materials from the store. My thought was that if you know you have a job scheduled for a particular time, why would you not already have what was needed? Shortly after 10, I called to find out when the workman would be here. A female answered and I was left on hold for 8 minutes while she went to find the answer. I hung up and called back. I was pretty upset now thinking about how this reminded me of my previous contact with them. A female answered. I asked her name (Linda Johnson) and if she was the only receptionist. She copped an attitude and told me she was part OWNER of the company. After explaining my story including the last time I was left on hold, instead of being sympathetic and trying to smooth things over with an already unhappy customer, she had an attitude and was rude. I would NEVER willingly use this company again based solely on their lack of customer service. **The workman did do a terrific job. I think he was the one who did what he could to appease this irate customer. (He arrived soon after my contact with Linda, and I was pretty fired up.) Maybe HE should own the company instead.
Description of Work: I had drywall damage to my bedroom ceiling from the winter storms. The workman cut out the damage, repaired, and painted.
