Started out with 3rd party installers rather than Geek Squad. Very unhappy with substandard service. I took photos and brought them into the store with a written report about the installers lack of enthusiasm and expertise. Best Buy refunded my money and sent a real Geek Squad Agent out to house for installation. Best Buy almost lost this customer, but they righted the wrong. Will continue to spend my money at Best Buy. I was real surprised and delighted a big box store actually cared.

My mother also purchased a refrigerator in April, 2012 and I can’t say enough good things about them. They pick up the old appliance for free and deliver the new ones free of cost also. They are really good and they price match with other companies, with the lowest price.
Description of Work: I used Best Buy to buy a washing machine.

They are the only appliance place in the area right now and I am happy with their service. The only thing I would give them a bad rating on is their billing. We have purchased Tv's and other stuff there. They used to have their own billing and you had so many years to pay it off and they would apply your payments to the no interest. Now they don't do that, they apply it to first thing you bought and five of my things never got paid off when they were supposed to. I owe then $7000.00 so I no longer have a best buy card.
Description of Work: I used Best Buy to purchase my computer about four years ago.

One was a laptop and the other was a computer. We really trust them. That's why we go there. They always seem to know what they're talking about. We haven't had to use their service much. However, we have gone there for some advice and they have always been really helpful. We always have a great experience with them.

After a couple of months the "D" drive did not work right. Took it in and let the Geek Squad look at it. They could not explain to us what the problem was and also stated that the spy ware that Best Buy/Geek Squad sold to us has not been working right on our computer and that they have been having problems with our type of computer (Toshiba), A month or two later we got a virus. They would not back the product. They wanted approx. $150 to fix it. Our computer was not even 6 months old. We asked for the store manager who would not help us. We asked for the district managers name and Best Buy refused to give us the name of the district manager. We will not be buying another computer from Best Buy. I am sure they are glad they have our money.
Description of Work: Bought new lab top to replace old one. Also paid extra for in store Geek Squad to load up spy ware and back up disk.

These are arrogant and incompetent people. I took a laptop in for "warranty" service (Best Buy's famous "we'll exchange it if there is a problem" ripoff). Although they were quick to get it back to me it took them three tries to perform a simple operation. I was so upset that I had to complain to Best Buy's corporate office. It came down to the point that I had to actually write out what I wanted them to do (all that was needed was to load the two disks that had the Windows XP operating system disk on it, plus the programs that came on the second disk.afer replaceing a bad hard drive) After the first attempt, all that happend was that the XP program was loaded. I took it back the second time and told them that they did not load the programs that came on the second disk. One of the techs said that they couldn't load the programs that came with the computer and that I would have to take it up with Hewlett Packlkard!!! A person standing next to me also had a serious issue with the Geek Squad and had spent over 5K$ with them (Best Buy) and was getting nowhere. It was late at night so I took my computer and went home. I called HP and asked them what I should do. After dealing with HP's nightmare of customer service (it took me 9 emails to finally get a resolution) they sent out a replacement set of disks that came with the computer and when I got them they were exactly the same ones that I had given the Geek Squad! The people from HP sent me an email with a list of all the programs that were on the computer when it left the factory, so I included that in my letter of instruction to the Geek Squad. Finally after all of this extra effort they got it right. The reason that I took the computer in was that it wouldn't boot up. They replaced a $60.00 hard drive and would have charged $160.00 for the labor to put it in and reload the programs, so the total of my "warranty" repair would have been $220.00, not exactly a bargain. I have experience working on DESKTOP copmputers, not laptops (too intricate) for me and no training (I am self-taught), and have a good idea of how much time it takes to replace hard drives (minutes) and load programs (pretty much automated). Another thing is that I constantly had to call to see if the unit was done. The Geek Squad promised me that they would call when the unit was done, and they never did. The manager also said if there was any problem to give him a call. When I did (repeatedly) He was always "in a meeting". One tech argued with me that Western Digital hard drives were superior to Seagate hard drives. Now I know people get attached to brands, but Seagate has a 5-year warranty and Western Digital has only a three year warranty. I pointed this out to the tech and he didn't believe me. He condescendingly looked it up on the internet after I challenged him on it and found out what I said was true. He treated me even more badly after that. The sheer arrogance of these pepole alone makes it not worth doing business with them. I told the tech that I was going to take this issue up with the corporate office and he angrily said "go ahead, it's not my problem"! The $99.00 service that I did spend money on was for data backup, which I thought was free (they did not tell me it would cost any money). I complained and they would not budge. They also had installed an antivirus program opn my computer without my consent and said that I had given them permission to do so. I told them that I did not and demanded that they remove it as I had 9 months left on my current amtivirus program, so I asked them why I would have given them permissionn to do this. They did agree to remove it after I protested. The antivirus program that they put on my computer was also inferior to the one I had originally put on the computer myself. I would not recommend anyone for this "service" as the pepole there as I have said are arrogant and incompetent and overpriced for what you get. I am lessening my overall business with Best Buy as a result and have told them so at their corporate office. The Geek Squad will NEVER get any of my repeat busines except for the remainder of my "warranty".
Description of Work: All I asked was theat the Geek Squad repair my computer that woudln't boot up under "warranty".
