Our home well pump stopped working - at a very hot time of summer. We use a lot of waster within the house and have a large lawn irrigation system. I called Dyer Well Drilling prior to 8 a.m. and they sent two technicians out, Kyle and Mason, who came to the house within hours to ascertain the problem, which was that our system was nearly 30 years old and simply needed to be replaced. They were very helpful. Subsequently, a technician by the name of Harley replaced the well pump, motor controls, and interior pressure tank and control box. He was super competent, courteous, and dedicated, staying well into the evening to get the project done. The system is high-tech and very quiet, and our water pressure has increased significantly. I was remarkably impressed with the responsiveness of the team at Dyer Well Drilling. Had they simply waited one additional day, we would have had to get a hotel room and we would have lost a lot of flowers/plants due to our irrigation system being down. Super impressed all around.
Description of Work: Well pump replacement, new pressure tank and control box.

Awesome. I called them after another company tore up our lawn getting their equipment stuck in soft ground. Not only did they come out with proper equipment, they also did some landscaping to fix what the other guys tore up. The crew worked about 12 hours in 20 degree weather. Professional. Attention to detail, and courteous service. The next day Mike called to follow up, and it turned into a friendly chat. They made it right. The only people I’d call from now on.

It turns out the valve was poorly designed by the manufacturer and Dyer had figured out how to modify and refurbish them. They replaced my valve with a modified one for a very nominal service charge. That's standing behind your service to an extraordinary extent. I would have paid them to replace it without argument. Instead they went over and above to stand behind their original installation. I wouldn't go to anyone else for well related work.
Description of Work: I had Dyer install a constant pressure valve on my well several years ago. It started to fail. I assumed this was due to years of exposure to hard water. I called them to have it replaced.

Called Dyer at 8am and Dyer arrived at around 10:30am to diagnose that I had an underground leak near my wellhead. They could not repair that day because their equipment was in service at another clients. They sent their employees out to hand dig around the wellhead (while mosquitoes are them alive) and repaired it the next day so that out water could be restored. They did not charge extra for the manual labor. They are responsive, reliable and reasonably priced. I would not call anyone else for my well needs.

Lost well water pump on Friday AM. Tech came out in the afternoon and found out that the pitless connection was an old type and could not be accessed using tools on hand. Stated that he would have to get an excavating crew in to dig down and expose the connection. The excavator was tied up till Monday afternoon. He scheduled us for Tuesday AM, and the crew arrived early. The job was done by the afternoon. New pump installed successfully. Would not hesitate to hire again. Highly Recommended. Thank you

Friday morning I noticed that the pump was cycling, so I suspected a leak in the old well pipe. Called Dyer. Justin arrived mid-afternoon. He had the right equipment, and worked skillfully and efficiently. His demeanor was friendly and professional. He did a lot of work in a few hours and finished the job. The prompt response saved me from a weekend without water or paying premium prices. Yes, the old steel pipe was a problem, but the check valve also was leaking. I requested replacement of the 40-year old pump during the same service call. Justin commented on the old controls in the basement. I could have replaced those myself, but since he was so obviously competent, I asked him to do it. I am very pleased with Dyer's service. I cannot comment on price because I did not contact other companies.

Should you find yourself in a water well situation, do not panic,as I did call Dyer from the moment you talk to Anna the answers to your problems are dropped into the hands of teams of experienced and very caring people. The first contact was two men who worked very hard to fix the problem without the necessity of a new well, but it was not to be everything was so old it just could not be saved. The owner of this wonderful company Mike called almost daily to get things going, then on one of the coldest days of the year a knock on the door and a smiling face asking would you like a new well today? I had asked them to postpone until it wasn't quite so cold, but they did not want us to be without water any longer, Once they were well underway a second team arrived to set up everything else. Everyone I came in contact with was happy and willing to work without any complaints, I never heard one grumble. I wish I was a more eloquent writer so I could express how much I appreciated the way we were treated. Obviously I would use them again should the need arise. I will leave their sign in my yard so people will know how happy I am with them. One thing I have not done is name all the people who came to my rescue, only because I do not know all the names and I would not want to leave out anyone. You know who you are and how much I appreciated everything. So in closing please use this company good people should be rewarded. Bless you all.

Mike came out in the morning on the same day I called him and told me what the problem was and quoted a price to fix the problem. His guys showed up a little bit later and removed the old pressure tank and replaced it with a new one and we were back in water by 2PM. Mike and his staff were courteous and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and removed all of the old material and did so in a timely and professional manner. I would HIGHLY recommend these folks.

We called Sunday night and were without water. I asked for quotes on our well pump as it is ~15 years old and I was thinking the worst. Justin was very reassuring and told me not to panic. He rearranged his appointments in the morning to see us first so we wouldn't have to pay the emergency fees Sunday night. After a quick inspection, it turned out to be a faulty switch that had corroded. He replaced it quickly and saved us over $1000 that we thought we'd be paying for a pump. Justin's service was courteous, professional, thorough, and he walked us through every step of the process. For new home buyers like us, that extra time made us feel well taken care of. Just before he left, he said he had attached their contact information to the switch just in case. A thoughtful addition as we would call back Dyer without hesitation. Not only is our water running again, but he threw in some maintenance and our water pressure is top notch! He definitely went above our expectations. Nice to have in this day and age.

Played phone tag alot, but when they finally arrived, they seemed knowledgeable. However, the guys started tearing into my system and began changing things without asking my permission or discussing fees for services. Fortunately, he only charged $150...but that seems like alot just to re-seat a pipe. He also took it upon himself to change out the brand new pressure gauge and pressure switch I installed and replaced them with their own...and then charged me for it. I expected better from a business with their reputation, but overall, the problem was solved.

Excellent service. I was convinced I needed a new well pressure tank that would cost many hundreds of dollars. The representative who showed up checked my tank, confirmed it was sound, and reset he pressure settings. All for the service call charge that I owed just to have him come to the house. He was friendly, informative and provided excellent service. I highly recommend this company!

Called Dyer at 7:40 expecting an answering machine. Received voice mail system suggesting option two for an estimate. Option gave me an actual person - nice. Explained the situation. Was told I could expect someone shortly after nine. Received phone call a little later telling me someone was on the way. Two gentleman arrived and checked things out. They determined that a control box had worn out. They also explained a lot about my well system to me. I appreciated that - good advice. Great customer service, would definitely use again.

Called Dyer on Thursday afternoon and left message; talked person-to-person on Friday. The customer support rep took pertinent information regarding symptoms, paying particular attention as to whether we were completely shut down. After ascertaining that we had some water, the CSR asked if it was OK to schedule for Monday (open scheduling with a call-ahead before arrival). We agreed on this and the CSR then gave a preview of the kind of things that might need to be fixed and their likely cost. This was good as it helped me mentally prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Dyer called Monday afternoon indicating they were running long on the day's jobs and would be able to visit the first thing the next morning (Tuesday). They called ahead of arrival and came with a full load of equipment, which they ultimately needed. We walked through the entire system and they inspected the tank and inbound piping. They then opened the well head to determine if there were any obvious issues. Based on the symptoms we were experiencing they surmised that there was a problem with the piping running up from the well (which was a correct assessment). They maneuvered their truck into the back yard and began setting up. They appeared to take all appropriate safety precautions, including anchoring the truck and checking and double checking their crane setup. They then began extracting the pipe from the well. As they reached the actual well pump, they inspected the piping for leaks, ultimately finding a hole that was causing water to drain back down the pipe and causing a lack of water pressure. They also closely evaluated the pump and although they indicated the pump could be replaced, they also suggested that it looked pretty good and did not seem to be the source of the problem. I opted to not replace the pump, and they began replacing the damaged pipe (in fact, replacing the entire pipe to move from galvanized to PVC). I was curious to see how the well delivery system was arranged so I observed the entire process. The Dyer team gave me a bit of a play-by-play related to various components, and as I watched their work, I was impressed with their attention to detail as they lowered the pump with the replacement pipe back into the well hole. They did not immediately leave after completing the job but walked through the components to make sure everything was in order. They also gave me detailed instructions regarding running the water to flush the system. One additional item ... although I didn't think or ask about it, they ran some chemicals down the well before replacing the pump/pipe. What used to be a bit of a sulfur smell out of the cold water faucets has completely disappeared, and the water tastes better than it has for some time. The work was good and the Dyer team (from office personnel to on-site people) was great to work with.

I placed the call for help at 8:30 AM on Monday morning. The woman I talked with said that Jim would call when he could stop down, he was out on calls at the moment. I told her that day or Wednesday would be best, and asked for a 1 hour heads up as I'd have to drive home to meet the repair person. Jim called at around 9:45 AM Monday morning saying he was in Lansing and could be there by about 10:30 AM. Excellent! I was hoping for a little more notice, but I wasn't going to turn down such quick turnaround. I explained to him that the pump was short cycling - 5 seconds on, 5 off, and that it was occasionally running even though no water was running. He said he would check things out. He started by measuring the pressure in the air tank. Too low he expected. My pressure gauge wasn't working properly (sticking, and incorrect reading). He suggested replacing that. I also mentioned that the pressure switch seemed to be modified, as the pressure gauge used to show it going from 20 psi to 70 psi. Also, my well pump had always run more frequently than I thought it should - on for 5 seconds every 15-20 seconds. He said replacing the switch was fairly cheap and easy too, and could do it all at once. I was more than happy to replace it, as opposed to trying to reset it. So, drained the lines, put a 40/60 psi switch in, new gauge, filled the tank with air, and turned water back on. He told me if I ever had a problem again, check the pressure in the tank first and make sure it was 2 psi below the pump turn on pressure (38 psi in my case). The repair worked great, the pump now runs as everyone says it should - on for a while, but only once every several minutes. The cost was quite reasonable too. I was charged $135 for the service call - based on the size of the truck he drove from Lansing, that cost was quite reasonable. $45 for the pressure switch. He threw the gauge in for free as it was reading about 3 psi high (I didn't care, I understand there is variability in these things). He was very friendly, and took the time to explain how the system works and how to fix common issues in the future. Top notch service. I'm glad I used Angie's List to find these guys - thank you to the 7 people that have review Dyer previously!
Description of Work: Jim came out to help me figure out a short cycling problem with my well pump. He diagnosed the problem quickly - too little air pressure in the water tank. My pressure gauge was unreliable, and the pressure switch had been tampered with. I asked him to replace the pressure switch and gauge and charge the tank properly.
