 + -1 moreI contact DeWitt to schedule an appointment to get an estimate to have a fence replaced. I immediately thought of DeWitt because they've been in the Lansing area for years. The person on the phone (Sue) was very knowledgeable and personable; however, she referred me to a salesman (named Jared) who would be the person who would actually come to the house and discuss options. He called once after my conversation with Sue, and left a message. I called him back four times over 2 1/2 weeks to try and lock in the date/time, but not a single phone call was returned. Each time, I left a message (clearly explaining I was coming in from out of town to meet him at the house -- and I could be flexible to accommodate his schedule, but needed to know in advance when it would be done). I even called Sue back and asked her if I was trying to contact the right person -- she confirmed Jared was the salesman, and the mobile number I was using was correct. So, after not having a single call returned, I'll use Angie's List to find another fence company in the Lansing area.
Description of Work: Nothing -- they wouldn't even return a call to provide an estimate.

 + -1 moreOne thing is my service never got done until the first week of July because we had rain all of June and it was supposed to be done then but they could not set the cement and have the posts stay upright. But they did measure my area to find out how much fencing I needed. I cannot blame them because of the weather conditions. They did not ask it to rain so much.|When July came they came out and set post. There were two men that came out both did a real good job. My dogs are real happy because they have a fenced in backyard and can run free. They were here at least half a day. I would use them again.

 + -1 moreWe got 5 quotes for our fence. Dewitt Fence is the only company that did a diagram on-site the day they gave us an estimate. Very professional. There was no questions because we had the actual diagram with gates, posts, etc. Great communications with office staff who kept us informed regarding installation dates and procedures, installation was a no problem event even in 90 degree heat. Took day and a half. Guys were efficient, polite and tidy. And punctual. Price beat all others and materials appear to be quality.

 + 0 moreVery good. All posts were cemented in. The fence is straight and square. All of the gates work good. They put it in just before the snow started to fly. I was a little worried about the doing the work at that time of year, but they got it done and it's just as good a year and a half later as it was when I had it installed.
Description of Work: Replaced gate on north side of house with double gate, added gate on south side of house and added fence across back of property (reorienting gate on existing portion of back fence.

 + -1 moreI got on the Dewitt fence web site. They have a link to contact them and get a quote. I signed up to get a quote for a chain link fence to keep my dog in the yard. Never heard from them. Very unprofessional. I mean if your going to take the trouble to have a web page and a link for service in this modern era, you would think a company would at least check it now and then. http://dewittfencecompany.com/ Don't bother contacting me now. I decided on an invisible dog fence. It is cheaper anyways from other qoute where the companies actually contacted me. Mark

 + -1 morePrice was competitive with other bids. Finished fence is beautiful. Only hesitation is whether they poured enough concrete to truly stabilize the posts; just not sure yet. Workers were polite and efficient. Material and design were what was called for in our specs.Central office does not get high marks: They agreed to schedule it after Labor Day, but they came in August (fortunately we called them and found out they would be early and could arrange to be home, as it turned out); we never got calls from them on scheduling or anything else. If you use them, stay on top of central office and verify all the details that are important to you (on the bid and once workers arrive).
Description of Work: Install a 90+ foot 6 foot cedar privacy fence along one side of back yard.

Description of Work: De Witt and Clery Fence were recommended to me by my roofer (Hankins Homescapes). I got an estimate from Clery that was $500-600 above De Witt's for exactly the same work. By going with DeWitt, I was able to do another small fence in front of my property and still pay less taht Clery's estimate for less fencing. As I've learned, fencing companies are not all that responsive (a neighbor had trouble getting Clery to tell her when they would return to finish the work at her home), and tend to schedule you in when they can--which I accept. DeWitt never gave us an exact date, though "Miss Dig" showed up and marked where our gas supply lines were, which gave me a clue. Then the workers for DeWitt just showed up one morning like magic. The fence they started to install out front was not as we'd contracted; the office told me that they'd already "cut the boards" and it would be impossible to change. But (I happened to be home) I talked to the installers and they cut the fence down to size for me, for which I was grateful. They--the installers--were great: unobtrusive and prompt, professional and courteous. So, I would recommend considering DeWitt, but I'd make sure i went over the bidded project twice (I went over it once and had it in writing), especially with the front office. Would I use them again? Absolutely.

Description of Work: I called Dewitt Fence Co. to obtain a quote for a privacy fence for my backyard. I first called them on a Friday. I spoke with a woman who answered the phone. She took my information and advised me that someone would call me the following Monday to make an appointment for the measurements/quote. Monday came and went with no call. Tuesday, I heard from a gentleman who was very nice and worked with me to schedule an appointment for the following Thursday at 8:30 am. The following Thursday came and went - and nobody showed up, nor did they call to explain why they didn't show up. I was willing to excuse the first delay (when they were supposed to call Monday, but didn't call until Tuesday). I understand that things happen and people get busy, but to fail to show up for an appointment entirely is completely unacceptable. I will not contact them again, as I already have two other quotes from companies that did honor their appointments with me. I would not recommend Dewitt Fence to anyone.

 + 0 moreI chose Dewitt Fence based upon recommendation of a coworker and they also had completed my neighbors fence some years ago. They have been in business several years along with Spartan Fence, and I received bids from both companies. Both bids were comparable, but Dewitt would install a 6 foot fence for the price of Spartan's 5 foot fence. So I then chose DeWitt to do the job. They did a good job for the most part in the installation of the fence. However it took 4 weeks before they dd the job when Steve promised a 2 week delay. So don't rely on Steve's time estimates when he offers you a bid.
Description of Work: Installation of approximately 190 feet of galvanized chain link fence with 4 foot gate at quoted price of $1998.00. Final price $2066
