The salesman sold the deal and promised that they would straighten the wall, fill the outside portion with pea gravel and then replace the dirt nicely. They did straighten the wall but didn't put in any press grave, they just put the old classy forty right back in. They left the surface of the dirt a total mess. It was bumpy and there where areas that sunk and created holes up next to the house where water collected. Many calls to the company we're never returned. Half the promised the sales person made were left out of the contract. We believed what he said and didn't look at the contract. We've learned a costly lesson about salesmen and contacts. I would never ever recommend Ayres to anyone. Buyer beware.

The crew was friendly, focused on their work, they were punctual each morning. Jake the crew manager made sure he communicated the process to me. They made sure they kept dust down to a minimum and when the job was completed Jake went over the completed project with me. I would definitely use them again.

The crew, Logan, Nelson and Alex and project manager Ty arrived at 9:00am. I was told they would arrive between 9-10am. Ty asked to see the area and reviewed rooms where vents were to be placed. Ty and the crew then covered the steps and floor in the basement with plastic. I appreciated Ty asking me if I had a preference on lower or higher placement of the vent at the bottom of the stairs. The crew was very efficient they cleaned up and swept after installation. Ty and the crew were very polite and professional. Ty reviewed how the dehumidifier works and took the time to answer other non related questions I had. Very good experience.

The crew arrived at the appointed time, reviewed the job with me and went to work. They lay down protective mats in the hallway and down the stairs to the basement. They worked continuously for about 6 hours until the job was finished. They cleaned up when they were done, again went over the job with me to make sure I was satisfied, gave me the operating manuals for the dehumidifier and the rest of the paperwork. David, the crew chief, was very professional. All of the crew were polite and proficient. The job cost seemed very fair for the amount of equipment and materials required. I am very satisfied with this service.
Description of Work: The Ayers crew, David, Tanner and Hunter insulated the foundation and sill joists in my crawl space, lay a plastic mat over the dirt floor and covered this with a plastic liner. They had to level some of the dirt in the crawl space and cover a foundation vent. They also installed a dehumidifier and a drain into a sump liner.

Initial visit for estimate went well. Steve was punctual and actually crawled back into the space, looked around and took pictures. Spent over two hours at the house discussing different options. Plus Ayers had sent a booklet on crawl space work about a week prior to the appointment which was excellent and very informative. Gave me a chance to intelligently discuss the job. Actual day of the work I was a bit surprised at the two young guys that showed up. However, they were very productive, professional in their approach to work and answered any and all questions I had. Cleaned up after the job and did all that was required. We actually spent time going over the work they were to perform so we were all on the same page. Overall, excellent work and I would recommend them for work and pricing to anyone.

They agreed that they would have the waterproofing and bright wall job completed by the end of June to mid July at the latest. Job was terrible and leaks still persist today (August 19). They have been completely unprofessional and unresponsive to NUMEROUS request to get the job completed so the house can be sold. We finally had to put the house up for sale even though the basement still leaks in several spots. In one email response we were informed that we needed to "dispense with the notion that they have not been accommodating" and attempted to point out how they have had to cancel other appointments to send techs out to fix the job they cant seem to fix. This organization is a joke and a rip off. STAY AWAY no matter how smooth the sales pitch.

I was really impressed with owner and the crew of Ayers Basement Systems when we had the initial system installed in the basement. It was laid down by the owner himself. They were excellent on me. They were just super polite and very punctual. They told me exactly on how long it would take.
Description of Work: Ayers Basement Systems put the waterproofing tank system initially. What they put the other day here was more of a cosmetic thing with some minor covering on my basement walls, on the concrete walls.

The waterproofing system is working great, especially after this damp summer. That I am pleased with (except it took a lot of effort on my part to clean up - 3 hours - after the workers, I even mentioned before they left what a mess they left - they didn't seem to care). There were several areas in the basement that had a very sloppy job of the cement overlay. They had to return to my house on two different occasions to finish what they said they would do. The driveway is a different story altogether. Although it's a very long driveway, there are a few in my neighborhood, the job they left was far from professional. It slopes toward the side door, there are many, many areas that are uneven and not even close to smooth, they left cement on my neighbors lawn, and cement spray on my house. And NOW, not 5 months later - there are 2 very large cracks in the cement. I reported this to them 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back from the owner (Virgil) who is supposed to contact me. If things would have gone smoothly thru the entire process I would be more sympathetic to their delay, but everything they have done has been handled about as unprofessionally as you can imagine. I paid $5,000 for the new driveway (concrete) and I have two very large cracks in it now; this is September, it was poured in May. Sadly, I would never recommend Ayers to anyone.

They are actually a basement waterproofing company. They ended up combining the basement work and the entire driveway together. So, even though they are not listed as driveway pavers, they do concrete work, so they are doing my driveway as well. I have been dealing with them for sometime. They actually came as a referral from a friend and since dealing with them for these past few months they are just incredibly professional. They are very kind, they seem very smart about what they do, they have been in business for over 30 years and they have been very patient and willing to work with me on whatever terms I have.

Everyone polite and professional. Good detail on their system.
Description of Work: Received an estimate from the company and have had contact from them since. They suggested putting in tile on the inside of my house around the entire perameter. Their estimate included putting the drain system on the foot of the wall. Have had other estimates that do variations on the french tile system which does not sit on the foot and is goes deeper down. Not as yet decided which system to use. Have talked to Ayers since estimate stating not decided on which system to go with and therefore not sure which company to hire. Ayers commented they could put in anything I wanted.

Very troublesome problem: water under basement foundation and black mold in our finished basement. Thank goodness for Ayers Basement Systems. They resolved our problem and our basement couldn't have turned out better/ Thanks you Ayers.

Ayers stated through their job supervisor and estimater, Roger Powell, that the job would be completed as of November 4, 2011. We made plans to visit the property personally to review the work and pay the invoice in full upon satisfactory completion. We relayed this to Roger who assured us that he would be there to review the completed work with us and collect payment. Since we live in the Tampa area of Florida, this is a long and somewhat expensive journey. But when we arrived, the job was not finished. Roger Powell was not at the property as had been agreed and instead he had hired a local contractor that we were familiar with named George Sedorchuk to finish the work that had not been completed. The work included some electrical work and some carpentry work to a trap door to access the dehumidifier, plus removing and installing the correct sized dehumidifier, since the one installed was too large for the crawlspace. We spoke personally with Roger Powell about this work and his choice of George, and he assured us that we should pay the invoice in full to Ayers and that they would pay George for the work that he was to complete when it was done. Roger intentionally chose George because we were aquainted with him and he had been trusted with a key to the house to let the workers in during our absence. George never finished the work and later committed suicide in the home, creating considerable damage to the property. Insurance would only cover approx. $30,000 worth of the damage done, with my husband and I out close to $14,000 of our own money to replace items not covered by the insurance but disposed of by the bio-hazard team doing the clean up. Ayers sent in April of 2012 another two contractors to complete the work, and finally in June of 2012 the correct dehumidifier was installed after two attempts to get the right product delivered to the house. When we contacted Mr. Ayers to request reimbursement for our out of pocket damages, he refused, saying that his company had never hired George and he was not responsible. This is an outright lie. The pain and suffering that my husband and I have suffered during this extended disaster has been great. To have someone not take responsibility for the actions of a person they employed, and then to plain lie about it is beyond reprehensible. I would not recommend that anyone do business with this company as they cannot be trusted to be true to their word. While the work appears to have been correctly, now that all is properly installed, their refusal to take responsibility for the actions of their own crew for damaging our property is totally unacceptable. Please do not use this company.
Description of Work: we are out of town vacation home owners of a family property in northern Michigan. Contacted Ayers to waterproof a crawlspace under a lakeside cabin that my husbands father built in the late 40's....and when I say built, I mean that he literally built this vacation home for his family with his own two hands. This home has been in our family ever since and has great emotional attachment to many members of our family.

Because we completed the work as promised, we can not give this customer the requested refund. We previously spoke to her through the Better Business Bureau's complaint resolution site and extended our sympathy for the situation that occurred in her home. We did not hire the third-party contractor who later committed suicide, and we can not be responsible for his actions.

Prompt, hung plastic everwhere to keep dust down when jackhammering concrete out. Great clean-up. Yard discharge trench finished neatly. Unbelieveably hard work! Should have been a two-day job, and they had a person out sick, so the main guy worked like a dog all day until mid-evening. The marines don't work any harder. Wish I could hire this same guy for all my work.
Description of Work: Trenched, installed pea gravel around 3 sides of basement, drain tile and sump pump and backup pump., capped the trench and ran a sump discharge drain 15-feet into the backyard. Several access points to drains in basement.

They did okay, but it was just too much money for me. It is wonderful in the way that it works, but it's just really expensive. I am sure that with all they were going to do, that's just what it costs, but I decided that I needed to put my money in other places. I don't think I would be using them because I don't think I would want to spend the money that it would take to use them.
Description of Work: Ayers Basement Systems did an estimate to put in a dry basement system where they put drains in the cement all around the edge of the basement, to put up walls that water can drain behind and into that system, put up dehumidifier and backup dehumidifier and a battery to run it if the power goes out, just the whole big thing.

We had 5 different estimates, and Ayers was the only one who could fix our problem. We had people walk in, and turn around and walk out because there was nothing they could do. We actually had to have the walls straightened. I think they did a good job, but it took a little longer than it should. They had to drive from another city to get to my home. Some days they arrived at 10:sh and then started packing up around 4 pm. They didn't work really long days. Once they arrived, they were fine. I can't grade the price, because I didn't have any other options. I would use them again.

The salesman, Roger, came to our house and gave us a complete overview of what to expect. He spent time and left us with a diagram of our basement and a complete estimate for all work. There was no change from that amount. It took us a few months to gather the money and we started the project three days before Thanksgiving - the only opening we had for this intensive work. The office kept us abreast of what to expect and the team of Nick and Nick arrived on time. These two guys were very polite and took time, at the end of every work day, to walk us through what had been done that day. They took time to clean up, every day, and it was very messy work. The noise was intense but we knew it was to be expected. The men went above and beyond - even fixing some stairs that had been water damaged. At the end of the three days, the gentlemen cleaned up and one of them went over every aspect of what had been done, following a checklist. He answered all my questions and also told me they would contact me in a year's time to check on the new sump pump and set up an appointment to come out. They finished a couple of hours earlier than had been planned and left us with a bone dry basement. They did an excellent job and we now have peace of mind that our foundation is properly protected. This is a great company to work with and there were no surprises - important is such a costly job.
Description of Work: This company sent two men - for three days - to our home to install their Water Guard system. This included drilling holes in all the interior foundation cinder block, jack hammering a trench between the walls and floor and hauling out all the earth, cement and stones, installing a track system to wick away all water to the new submerged sump pump as well as filling in the trench and cementing over it again. They also installed a 10 ft. discharge line to take away the sump pump water to our back garden.

I was referred to Ayers. They came in during a hugely stressful, emergency situation and jack hammered the cement in my basement foundation and laid the drain tiles and installed the sump pump. While taking out the materials they jack hammered out, they tracked mud, cement, dirt, muddy water on my parquet floor entry way and my FLOORING WAS RUINED. While doing the work they move a wall decoration and CRACKED MY MIRROR. Because I had so much water damage drywall had to be removed so another company that was doing the dry wall put up a plastic barrier so the dust would not travel throughout the house. Ayers workers came in and tore down the barrier so dust and cement dust was spread throughout 3 levels of my home. During the install of the sump pump they cut the piping too long so it is on an angle one piece snug against my wall. They installed the piping, but tore out all the insulation, ceiling tiles to install this pipe. They never put back the insulation or the ceiling tiles just left a mess in it's place. Bryan Foster the project manager came out and took a look at the install and commented they cut the piping too long, he saw the damage to my floor and even took pictures, but to date has not made one attempt to make things right.Last but not least when they installed the drainage to pump outside, they placed a drain in my yard. I am pumping so much water outside that it has now created a full running creek and two puddles that are a DROWNING DANGER to my animals, (I run an animal rescue) as well as my grand children who play in my front yard. AYERS BASEMENT SYSTEMS ANSWER to this is to charge me another $700 - $1,000 to correctly and safely pump the water in a pond that the water is running to. Mr. Ayers comment is once the water is outside, it is the homeowners problem! This company is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, not leaving a homeowner in a safe condition or resolving problems and fixing damage they created. They have no respect for your home or your possessions, get in do the job, collect the money! I have had to chase this company to try and get the issues resolved, but to no avail. I also contracted for them to place large white panels on my wall, and yesterday when I was in the room they installed the panels in, the panels are now warping, now I do not have flat walls, I have walls that are bulging and uneven. Yesterday I was in the basement and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement, when I looked at the drain that had collapsed and was left uncapped there was a BIG green frog sitting on my drain, I snapped a quick picture with my phone but when I went closer to look, the frog went back down the drain. Great, now I have creatures coming up my drain! This company appears to be ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and not CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OR SAFETY!
Description of Work: I had a footing drain collapse, and gallons of water came up through the broken drain, I was referred to Ayers. They came in during an emergency situation and jack hammered the cement in my basement foundation and laid the drain tiles and a sump pump to pump the water outside.
