I talked to and received estimates from Applegate, Hager Fox, and Northwinds. I was most impressed with Larry Kirchoff of All Star Mechanical. He returned my call shortly after I left a message and we set up an appointment on a Saturday at my convenience. He was extremely knowledgable about what I needed done to replace my system because he does an extensive analysis calculating heat loss and heat gain for my house which included walls, windows, insulation, ceiling height, fireplaces, flooring, doors, skylights, which he measured. This was not done by any other company who gave me quotes. Larry also did the installations and I happened to pick extremely cold days for him to install the furnace, air conditioner, and humidifier which required work outside too. He also went out of his way to scrub a rusty drain for me and replumb a pipe from the humidifier directly down into the drain instead of letting it just drain across. It took 2 full days to install both but I did have heat by the end of the first day. He will return at my convenience in the Spring to draw any moisture out of the air conditioning system since we really couldn't run it when it was 12 degrees outside. I chose a two stage 95% efficient Maytag furnace with an ECM variable speed motor, and my house has never been so warm and cozy. Even the upstair bedrooms are warm and cozy which has never happened. I highly recommend Larry's All Star Mechanical company. You will not be disappointed.

Larry Kirchoff came to my rescue today like a knight in shining armor. Another company had diagnosed the problem on Sunday, January 5th. My family had awakened to no heat. It was very cold and about to become much colder. They immediately called me. I am stranded in Florida having had 3 flights cancelled due to the severe weather. I was able find a company who could send someone out to check the furnace. He said that it needed a new motor, that he thought he could get to it on Monday, and that it would cost about $400. No one showed up on Monday. I called them. He apologized and told me that they didn't have the motor in stock and that it had been ordered. It would take 2-3 days and it was more expensive than he had thought at $450. I was very upset at the delay, as the temperatures were very low and would not be above zero for a couple more days. I had 11 people in my house including an infant and a toddler. My daughter's home had burned on Christmas Eve and they had taken shelter with us. The house was miserably cold and they didn't even have any extra clothes to pull on. My family struggled through days of sub-zero temperatures as they waited for someone to come and replace the motor. Yesterday, Wed. Jan. 8, I spoke with someone at that company again. He informed me that he had finally been able to locate a motor but unfortunately it would cost $850. As I worried about this contradiction with what I had been told by the repairman, I also pondered whether it was wise to invest that much money (plus labor) into a furnace that was at least 18 years old. I decided to replace the furnace. I called the first company this morning and had their salesman go to the house and then call me with his estimate. I then spoke with Larry Kirchoff of All Star Mechanical in regard to the purchase of a furnace. He was on a call at the time. He said that he could go over to look at the house in about an hour and that he would call me with his estimate. About 2 hours later he called me back saying that although he would love to sell me a new furnace, mine was not yet on its last legs and it could quickly and easily be repaired. He said that there was no need to order the motor as it was one that was readily available locally at multiple outlets. He then picked up the part and repaired my furnace. In about an hour my family had heat and the charge was only $445. Actually, it was $490 but seeing as I had found him on Angie's List, he gave me a discount and only charged $445. My family had suffered unnecessarily, for 3 days, in life-threatening cold. Lansing registered something like 21 degrees below zero on Tuesday morning and Wednesday the temperature never rose above zero. If I had called All Star Mechanical on Sunday, Jan. 5th, I am confident that my furnace would have been repaired on Monday, Jan. 6th. Larry could have easily sold me a new furnace today as my family was suffering and I was desperate. Instead he did the right and honorable thing and completed a repair that only cost me $445 with the Angie's List discount. He proved to be knowledgeable, efficient, and honest. Larry Kirchoff is a man of integrity and today he is also my hero.

It went very well. He ordered in a part for the furnace and replaced it when it came in right away.

Larry was very easy to work with and very professional. He didn't get at the job as quickly as he had planned, however he compensated for that by upgrading our furnace and giving us over 200.00 back to go toward our electric heat. After they got started it went very quickly and smoothly. He was able to call ahead to give us a heads up when he was arriving each day and kept good communication throughout the whole process. We are very happy with the outcome and would definitely use his services again.

He replaced my furnace and ac system. He did a great job and will come back periodically to inspect his work. It was done well and the house is much warmer with less energy. Great job.

Larry was polite, professional, prompt, and he explained what he was doing along with how the furnace functioned. Larry stated that if anything went wrong with the furnace after this visit the he would return without a service charge. I was very pleased.

I called Larry from All Star Mechanical on a Tuesday evening. He was at my house Wednesday morning taking apart my old broken furnace to find the problems. Since it had a hole in the heat exchanger, a bad sensor, and a bad main board, it was going to be a costly fix. Larry gave me a few options, including going with a new unit, which I opted for. Four days later I had a great new furnace at a fair price. Very happy with everything about this transaction.

Furnace was effected by a downed electrical wire to the house, causing a power surge. I messaged Larry on Angie's List Monday evening, and he called me within the hour to schedule an appointment. He arrived on Wednesday. He wasn't able to arrive within the 2 hr. Window, and called from another job he was finishing. He called again to say he was on his way. (only 45 min. later than apt. time). He was professional, explained what he was doing, and answered my questions. He worked swiftly, and had replacement parts on his truck. He completed the work in 45 min. He had given me the coupon discount before I mentioned it. The charges were reasonable and he was very pleasant. I would recommend his business, and would call again.

I made an appointment for All Star Mechanical to come out to my home, because I wanted a second opinion. It turns out that the first service I used said I needed a new furnace. Thank Goodness I called Mr. Kirchhoff at All Star Mechanical!!! It turns out that my furnace is old, but is working fine! It just needed to be cleaned! Mr. Kirchhoff's honesty and integrity was very refreshing, in todays' world of everyone seeming to be "out for themselves"! He saved me the cost of a new furnace ($2,000)!! He was punctual, friendly, and most important of all . . . Knowledgeable! I am telling all of my friends to use All Star Mechanical, for their heating and air conditioning needs! They won't be cheated, and they will get a job well done!!

Amazing. Larry was very responsive. Returned our initial call within an hour and was able to be out at the property on the same day. When he was running later than he anticipated he called and let us know. This is huge in my book. Its understandable that work sometimes take longer, but the fact that he took a second to give us a call was so professional and immensely appreciated. He fixed our AC unit quickly and he brought up the fact that there was an Angie's List coupon and gave us that deal. I wasn't able to be at the property at the time and I forgot to mention the coupon on the phone or to my mom who was out at the house, so he could have just charged us full price, but he didn't. Superb.

Terrific. Arrived when he said he would, completed the work when he said he would, did it all exactly on budget, was accessible for questions, couldn't ask for better service-including his following up with inspectors and helping get the credit from consumers. The only problem I have-Larry-would you consider learning other trades? Plumbing? Roofing? Siding? If you need it done, for home heating, if you aren't calling Larry, you are spinning expensive wheels.

Service was great. Owner did the work himself, responded to phone calls and messages, showed up when promised, and did the job quickly and professionally. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

All Star Mechanical did a great job! Everything from sitting down with us to explain everything to a quick removal of the old, installation of the new and clean up was done professionally. We would recommend them to family and friends.

Excellent!! Larry the owner is awesome and a great guy to do business with. I have used All star Mechanical 3 times and will use it again as needed. Larry is always on time and loves animals so if you have furry family members he is sure to give them a pet or two.. I highly recommend All Star Mechanical !

What can I say but I really enjoyed Larry installing my furnace and central air. Larry is very passionate about his work and it does show. Everyday he was here was very pleasant and enjoyed his hard work he did. If you want a great job done in heating and cooling All Star Mechanical is the way to go. Larry at All Star Mechanical is top notch. He installed the water heater on a moments notice and got us up and running again. Our furnace was on it's last legs. So we called out four different contractor's and got bids on a new furnace, a/c, etc. Larry's was the best and couldn't have picked anyone better to do the work for us. He went above and beyond anything I had expected. My furnace/Water heater room is a very tight fit and it's just amazing the way he got everything to fit just right in there. Honestly, didn't know if everything was going to squeeze in there, but he got it done. It looks so good!! Everything runs great, everything is nice and quiet and I couldn't be happier with the work that he did. I recommend the HD/Touchscreen thermostat too... It ties in with the furnace and a/c unit very well. I won't call anyone in the future but Larry at All Star Mechanical. Highly, Highly recommend him to anyone looking for water heater, Furnace, a/c work to be done. Hands down the best around.

Larry was incredibly professional, competitively priced, and the quality of his work was excellent. He installed a new furnace and humidifier for us in the fall of 2010 and we were so impressed that we had him come back to put in a new air conditioner the following year The year after that we called him back to put in a new hot water heater. The quality of his product and especially his attention to detail are excellent. He recently came back to hook up my gas grill and again, did a great job. He's always very punctual and professional. He has an attention to detail that is uncommon with contractors. I would say he is somewhat of a perfectionist. What we like best about Larry is that he communicates with you, so you know what's going on and when things are going to happen... no surprises.I referred him onto my mother to install a new hot water heater and he took very good care of her also. I would highly recommend Larry.

The guy at All Star Mechanical was great to work with. He was very responsive, conscientious, concerned about customer satisfaction, and he explained everything to me. He got into more difficulties than he anticipated but he managed them very well. In the middle of the job, he found out that one of my walls was crumbling and pointed this out to me rather than ignoring this problem.

This is the guy! Last fall we had to install a new furnace and looked at Angie's reviews and found Larry and gave him a call to the do the job. He responded right away and not only did he have the best prices but he was professional in all aspects of the installation process. He did everything right.... from educating us as home owners down to the installation and clean up. Last week when we started up the air conditioning and the house would not cool, Larry was the first person we called without hesitation. He quickly got back to us and assessed the situation. He spent over two hours examining the house and making notes on possible solutions and provided us within days a written estimate of a very complex job. Larry did the work himself with the help of an assistant and took about a week to complete the job. Our house is finally warm on all levels and we couldn't be happier.
