Larry Kirchoff is an absolute professional - responsive, creative, and excellent at what he does. If you're looking for a furnace or AC contractor, don't look any further. All Star Mechanical is awesome. I paid nearly the same price to have a furnace installed - only a furnace - in 2007. The installation was a "cheaper model" Goodman furnace which was installed poorly. I experience more than one issue with that furnace, mostly due to the poor installation. When I asked Larry to quote central AC, he noted several issues with the furnace that could be corrected, but probably wouldn't be the right thing to do in the long run. As a consumer, he gave me the options of correcting the old furnace and installing AC, and then 3 levels of new furnace and new AC. I chose to install the new furnace and new AC - with a 10 year warranty - for about the same price I paid for the cheap Goodman furnace that was not installed correctly. On top of all of the above, Larry is just a nice guy and a pleasure to work with. Not your typical contractor.

Larry was excellent. His price was good, and the install was excellent. Larry is very personable and knows what he's doing.

I had Larry Kirchhoff come to see why I had water on the basement floor that appeared to be leaking from the air conditioning unit. He said that the pipes the installer used when the unit was put in were to small and created the drain to plug up and over flow. He replaced the pipes with a larger pipe to avoid that in the future. I have used Larry's services several times before, for my furnace and air conditioning tune up's and repair's. He is always on time, call's to let you no he is on his way, tell's you what the problems are and how he will fix it and what the cost will be, and then goes to his truck to bring in the items needed to do the repair. He works quickly, is very fairly priced , and a honest all around good guy to work with. I will always use Larry Kirchhoff at All Star Mechanical for my air and furnace need's and I highly recommend his service. Also Larry is an animal lover, so if you have pet's no need to put them away in another room or outside as some companies recommend as Larry will take a few minutes to show them all some love.

Larry was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He gave an in-depth explanation as to what he was doing and why. He was efficient in the time he spent on our repair and had it completed promptly. Pricing is very fair. We would highly recommend Larry for any future services and will definitely call him again in the future if needed.

I needed my furnace looked at due to a noise it was making at the end of winter. I was putting it off till closer to fall but was getting worried that I may need a new furnace and I would have to start budgeting for the replacement cost. Found ALL STAR Mechanical on your list so I called and spoke with Larry, He gave me the options of days and time's that were available to look at the furnace, Which worked out great for me due to my schedule at work. He also email me to confirm appointment. Larry informed me that he would call when he was on his way, and he did. He was on time and very courteous. Larry found the problem within minutes of starting the furnace, I was very happy to hear the furnace was fine. No replacement was need. It's important that our furnace is working properly we have 4 small grandkids that spend weekends with us. I know now that I have found a company that I can trust. ALL STAR Mechanical is a company that I will refer my family and friends to.

Immediately upon entering my home he went on and on and on about how he was the absolute best service provider. He hooked something to my system and told me what was wrong with it. This was not necessary because I already knew what was going on. After he did this I asked him for prices on a new system, which he was well aware of was my intent. When I did so he said that normally his pricing to come take a look at a system was $90, and that because I was an Angie's List member he would give me a discount and charged me $76.50. We argued about the fact that I didn't need him to check my system, that I informed him of this and I already knew what was wrong with it. That I had only contacted him to get pricing on a new system. The argument went on a while and eventually I asked him to leave. He agreed and asked if I would want any of his brochures for new systems. I declined, and as he left he gave me my money back.

Larry is the best! Honest, professional, neat and organized. His prices were better than the big name retailer that had previously been servicing our furnace and his service cannot be beat! When our AC went out last summer the "other guys" sent out 2 guys who basically just looked at my unit and told me to get a new one. No real explanations, no testing unless I wanted to pay additional $200 on top of the $100 service call. Intead of throwing more money away, I called Larry on a recommendation by a neighbor and am so glad that I did. He took the time to do some testing on our unit, explained what was wrong with it, and gave us options for repairing or replacing. He is very honest about all options and I never have felt like he was trying to "sell" us on anything. This spring we will be having our AC system replaced by Larry. We also had a good experience over the winter when our furnace wouldn't light and he came out right away and diagnosed and replaced a bad igniter for a very reasonable fee. I cannot recommend Larry highly enough! He is a life saver!

OMG, Larry is just the most amazing person ever. He installed our furnace for us back in 2010 and has been our "go to" man every time we needed the air conditioner or furnace questions answered or dealt with. He's extremely responsive and fit us in an already overloaded schedule. It was the end of the day and he bailed us out. Larry kept in communication with us during the day so that we knew he hadn't forgotten about us and giving us his timeframe as his schedule developed. His work in the furnace area is extremely neat and compact. When we go to sell the house I feel I can open up the basement mechanical work and be proud of the newer furnace and the great installation job. Thank you Larry, you have always been a pleasure to work with.

Excellent. As always owner Larry responded in a timely fashion. Provided us with temporary space heaters to prevent freezing. He worked very hard to replace the furnace in one day and it was a big job. I would highly recommend him. He is the best. Thank you Larry! Look forward to working with you in the future.

The worker was great. He was very prompt and right on time. He left the area very clean. I would recommend him to friends and family.

Furnace is 21 years old, so we needed to weigh the pros and cons of fixing the existing unit, or replace. Larry went over all the options with us, and no pressure either way, we decided to fix the existing unit at 10% the cost of replacing, and take our chances. Part was ordered, and came in wrong, and we were contacted Immediately to let us know that the part would be overnighted. Larry kept us in the loop, and part is now installed and furnace is humming along. We felt good about dealing with Larry as he has a one person business, does the appraising and the installation, is very professional, and takes the time to explain everything clearly. Hopefully our fix will last a long time, but if a new furnace is needed rest assured All Star Mechanical will get the job.

Before all else, Larry Kirchoff is a stand up, top shelf guy. It shows from the first time you talk to him. If you work with Larry, you will learn it's his company and he does the work... it's his name, and it shows. I"m one of those "research it until it's dead guys". Larry wasn't the cheapest and he wasn't the most expensive, but I'd put his work (and after the sale support) up against anyone, and would not lose a moment's sleep for it. This job was extensive and especially challenging due to the design of our home, the low overhead available to work in as well as the extremely limited choices to run furnace exhaust plumbing. The install was in August during an extremely hot week. Our old A/C system had failed and Larry worked long days, even coming back on a weekend to tidy up some things. It took a number of days to disassemble areas of finished basement to run gas lines, snake A/C lines and furnace exhaust through places it didn't want to go, but it got done and done well. Duct work is precise, airtight and well designed. He even changed the geometry of the air filter installation to improve efficiency and function. He puts extra effort into properly sizing the furnace and A/C to the house size and type rather than just throwing the biggest, fanciest model available into the quote. Results? Our home has never been more comfortable. Previously we had warm and cold spots throughout the house. During previous heating seasons, we could feel the air temperature cycle with that of the furnace. No more. My wife suffers from serious migraines and was very concerned about noise. Whether we are cooling or heating with the heat pump or the furnace is running on the coldest winter morning, I can't even hear the thing running! As a propane customer, I can't say enough about the heat pump in lieu of the propane price jumps we saw last winter. Except during the coldest two months, the heat pump carries the house just fine. And yes, utility bills have dropped considerably. The two negatives I can add is that having finally decided to make this investment and start enjoying it, my job was eliminated and I must move my family out of state. Some one is going to get a very nice HVAC system. The other problem is that Larry is not licensed to work in my new home state... yet. So, if you need to do lots of research like me, go ahead, but you will probably end up back here. Or, scroll up, send Larry an email, then shut this thing off and take your significant other out to dinner. He always replies and he always calls back. Enjoy dinner and the chunk of spare time you just created.

We left our house key with Larry so he could work when we went on vacation. The house was spotless when we returned, and the new equipment is smaller and more efficient. This is the second job I've hired Larry to do; he also installed a new furnace and air conditioner in my previous home. His work is the best! He's friendly and patient. He has come back numerous times because my husband doesn't understand how to work the new thermostat. Actually, when Larry put the new furnace in here, he installed the system using the "old" method, and it didn't work well. He brought in two experts who also couldn't understand why the air conditioner and furnace weren't working the way they should have. He bought magnetic covers for the vents so as to reduce the cold air on the lower level and force it to the main level. THEN he was installing a furnace somewhere else and realized he had used the "old" method rather than the new way wires are hooked up. He came back here, re-did the installation of those wires, and now the system works as intended. He apologized profusely for his mistake. He was also able to remove the magnetic covers from the lower level vents. Now everything is working the way it should. The only problem now is my husband's lack of expertise working the thermostat. I think the thermostat is fantastic! We can program four different times of day with both heat and cold, if we want. I can control the thermostat with my phone from Timbuktu, if I were there. My husband seems to want the temperature somewhere between 73 and 74. That the thermostat doesn't do, so he finds 73 too cold and 74 too hot. He runs the thermostat up or down manually, depending on how he feels. Larry has been very patient, returning innumerable times to work with my husband about this.

I am impressed with this provider as he responded to our needs in a professional manor and did what we feel as quality work. This company is a small basic one man operation with the work done by the owner of the company and I like that. Some of the other providers have many technicians and so you are never sure which technician you are going to get. I much prefer having a company that has the attitude that we are, as his clients, his most important asset. I find that refreshing. As a small business myself I know how important that the client is and Larry recognizes that as well. I will be using Larry again to provide any heat and A C needs in the future.

We called Larry and he returned our call sooner than expected. Our daughter needed her air conditioner replaced but needed Larry for the appointment before or after her work hours. Larry set up an appointment and was on time. Very professional. He gave several options to choose. He came when he said he would and was very nice when he came per our daughter. He made suggestions and never once made our daughter feel inadequate. He reminds me of the contractors of old, "your word is your reputation!" He promised and he delivered. He waited for our daughters time line with appointments and the actual work. As a parent, I was extremely pleased that he worked with our young daughter who is a home owner with little experience.

Our 22-year-old furnace died in February when we were gone. Our house was freezing when we returned. We sought several bids for replacement. Larry Kirchhoff, owner and main technician for All Star Mechanical, not only gave the best bid, but was the only one to visit our house and assess the interior situation. We asked Larry for a bid because he already was praised on Angie's List. He showed great responsibility, timeliness, courtesy, real friendliness, genuine concern and strong ethics. Our house was difficult, because it lacks a basement, the ducts are in the concrete floor slab, and the furnace space is constricted. Larry did much innovation in crafting the setting, pipe connections and other features. The quality of his work was extremely high. The equipment he provided is smaller, much better-looking, more efficient in operation, and ecologically better than the old equipment. He taught us a great deal about the ways to operate the new technology. He always cleaned up after his work was done, and was extremely supportive. We happily recommend him to our friends and neighbors.

Larry is personable and professional. He provided great options and didn't try to "oversell."

He arrived on time and inspected the furnace . We could not replicate the problem but he suspected it was a motor that was going bad. We discussed a few options which included fixing the motor on a 25 yr. old furnace and possibly replacing it. He will emailing us a quote on a new furnace. He did not charge us for the service call. He also did work for us last august on our air conditioner and did an excellent job at a fair price. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing repair or replacement of a furnace/air conditioner. He is the owner and does all the work himself.

Larry and his assistant came over to begin work. It took two days to complete with Larry and his assistant working together at times or singly. Larry explained everything to us and told us of all the features we would be getting with our new equipment. Although I got a better price from an out-of-town dealer, I chose All Star Mechanical because it was local and equipment installed was familiar to this area. All went well and we are happy with the result.

This was the second time I have hired Larry to work on my rental house in Lansing. This time the 35 year old furnace went out. Larry explained he could replace the part that went bad, but was concerned that a new one would fail again due to some burnt wires and felt if we tried to repair this furnace it would be open ended in time and cost. I fully trust Larry's opinion and went ahead and replaced the furnace. Larry left my tenant with safe space heaters to keep the home warm until he was able to come and install the new furnace. Larry arrived when he said he would and had the heat going when he promised. He went above and beyond by trying to get the humidifier working as well, and referred us to the part we needed to replace on that for a lower cost than having him fixing it. Larry never tries to oversell and is knowledgeable, responsive and fair. I will continue to call Larry at All Star Mechanical any time I need heating or cooling help in Lansing.
