Stay away!I called to check the duct work in the house. I got charged 85$ for the visit, but never got a detailed estimate. The employe refused to give me an itemized estimate. He told me that it will cost me 4100$, no details attached. So I paid 85$ for nothing.

My furnace failed on New Years Day, talk about timing!!. After searching about on Angie's list, I decided to call All Star Construction for help. I was hoping the reviews I had read were close to reality. Larry first sent his technician out the following day. In a nut shell the problems with my old furnace added up to a rather expensive repair. Due to the age of the furnace and the cost of repair I decided to replace the furnace. Larry came out and did an extensive energy audit of my house to confirm exactly what size furnace I would need. Also due to the cold snap we were experiencing he let us use a large space heater he had to warm our house. The next day Larry and his helper Kevin installed a new furnace, new humidifier, and expanded the size of the cold air return to the furnace ( in order to let the furnace work better). Also a very nice new Honeywell programable thermostat was include with the installation. They were extremely professional in doing their jobs. It was as good an experience as I've ever had with a major home repair. This is the company I'll always be contacting for any future heating or air conditioning needs. As a side...When Larry shut off the power to work on the furnace he noticed my circuit breaker was loose in the box. He was kind enought to bring a new circuit breaker the next day and replace the old one. Heats on, I have a great new furnace and I am one happy customer.

Excellent experience overall. Larry was prompt, curteous, and professional. Even though my issue turned out to be a minor fluke, Larry still took the time to exhaustively test my furnace's functionality and explain what he was doing throughout the process. I was very impressed and certainly know who to call with any and all of my future HVAC needs. Larry also offers a great coupon for first time customers- an added bonus.

I was looking for HVAC and I got them off Angie’s List. He did some other jobs so it cost me about $5000. The job was great. I think the price was reasonable from what I understand. I don’t know much about how much everything cost. He gave me several things to pick from and several choices and price ranges. I chose which one I wanted. He sat down with me and went through everything and he had a booklet showing all of his credentials and he went over everything with me. It couldn’t have been better. The person who came and helped was good and it was such a good experience and everything was great. He was great.

After reviewing the comments on Angie's List for heating & A/C contractors, I contacted All Star Mechnical. Larry Kirchhoff called back later the same day and scheduled an appointment one week later to discuss what was needed. On the day of the appointment, Larry called to let me know that he would be about ten minutes late (this is something I really appreciate and expect in a contractor). He explained what was needed and provided an estimate. While still in the basement, he noticed some water coming from the condensate pump next to the furnace. It appeared the float was stuck and he was able to get it to pump again (no charge me for this service). The service that was needed was to repair work done by the previous owner who tried to heat the finished basement by improperly cutting and installing registers into the floor runs. To my surprise, Larry was able to schedule the work the next day. Later that day, the float on the condensate pump failed again. I called Larry and left a message. He called me right back and said he would bring a new pump with him and, if necessary, would replace the old pump. On the day of the service, Larry and his assistant arrived on time and completed the work in about two hours. They removed all trash and swept the floor where needed. Larry was very professional and considerate throughout the whole process and I would definitely refer his service to others.

I emailed a request to the company to have my furnace serviced, to find out what could be done to get more heat to the second floor of the house, and to get an estimate for replacing my hot water heater. The owner called me and scheduled the visit. The technician arrived on time, inspected the furnace and told me that it is working fine. He gave me some options for addressing the second floor problem, such as installing air returns, but advised that insulation would probably be more effective. His company doesn't do this type of work and I appreciate the honesty of his assessment. However, I expected my furnace to be cleaned and there are visible cobwebs and dust inside the grate. The technician didn't report what he had done, only that it was working fine and he recommended a different type of filter. Also, he didn't address the hot water heater problem at all. When I asked about it, he gave me two price options, one for a direct-vent model, another for one that vents through the chimney. He hadn't inspected my water heater and didn't discuss brands, tank capacity, or energy efficiency. I didn't receive a written estimate and have no basis for comparison. I later had an energy audit conducted and they discovered that one of the heating ducts that goes upstairs is disconnected at the joint, as is another duct. It seems to me that the heating technician should have found this. They also checked the water heater and said that it doesn't need to be replaced, only drained. The company had a special on Angie's List for first-time customers so I paid half price for the visit. Perhaps that's why I got such poor service. I would have preferred paying full price and getting the service that I needed.

We wanted to replace our 42 year old furance and hot water heater. I had two other quotes and wanted a third so I went on Angie's list. There I found All Star Mechanical which had glowing reviews so I decided to call for an estimate and I am so thankful that I did. Larry did a complete analysis of our home to determine exactly the furnace that would be best for us. The other companies did not do this. Larry was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. He was prompt, professional, and a pleasure to work with. We did purchase a furnace and hot water heater from Larry. The installation went very smoothly. Larry and Kevin were prompt, and went right to work. They did a very good job. When they were finished, Larry went over everything with me so I understood all that had been done.. I highly recommend All Star Mechanical, and we will use Larry for all our heating and cooling needs.

Despite of the fact that this company is not the contractor, the owner, Larry Kirchhoff, and his worker, Kevin, brought in the reliable electrician (Kyle Mack), plumber (Jerome Barnes), and a home repairman (Bart Martindale) to finish the installation of appliances and the related work that became more complicated than they appeared at first. Since we could not find any contractor to do this work, we very much appreciated their work!

Larry was wonderful to work with. He did an extremely thorough inspection of our home in order to assess which units were appropriate and also thoroughly explained the available options. We had several estimates and his was by far the lowest. He always returned my calls and e-mails promptly, was very quick at completing the installation, very friendly and provided excellent customer service and satisfaction. I have referred him to several family members and friends.

Larry was great to work with! He was always on time for meetings and responded quickly to emails. We were attempting to buy a foreclosure that had an extremely old furnance and duct work that was somewhat of a mess. Larry quickly gave us a quote for that and other duct work for the second floor. We had to change our plans for the house several times because of the bank's restrictions on work allowed. Even after Larry gave us 2 different quotes (because we had to change the work being done), we received more paperwork for him to fill out from the bank (for FHA financing). Larry had it completed quickly for us. Then, after the bank forgot to mention that all contractors needed to be EPA certified, Larry was willing to take the time to complete the class to still do the job. However, the other contractors we were using were not willing to do that, and we could not get an extension from the company that owned the house. Every time we hit a wall in moving forward in this process, Larry was there to help and work with us. Even though our first home buying attempt failed, we are looking again and will certainly be calling Larry for any of our HVAC needs!

From the initial phone contact through the finished installation, Larry was prompt and professional, while remaining friendly and personable. One of the main reasons I chose All Star is that Larry is the owner/operator with only one employee. He does most of the work himself. Having the same person do the estimate and installation, and having a personal interest beyond a paycheck, gives me confidence in the quality of the work. Larry took the time to answer all my questions and to point out things that I didn't specifically ask about too. He was able to do schedule quickly and work with my work schedule. On the day of the installation, Larry called to let me know he was on his way. He worked by himself because his employee had called in sick. The job took several hours longer than he had planned (almost 12 hours from start to finish) because he didn't have a helper, but he was cheerful and thorough the entire day. He left the work area clean and made sure I was comfortable operating the system before leaving. The cost of the job was affordable and inline with other estimates. Larry also checked on available rebates and is completing all the forms necessary for a rebate from Consumers Energy. I will definately call him in the future for my HVAC needs. Thanks Larry!

He took the time to answer our questions, not just about the furnace, but also about some other problems we were having in our basement. We also got a very good price on the service because he offered an Angie's coupon.

Returned my call and scheduled appointment right away, showed up on time, very knowledgable and polite, serviced the old furnace in our fixer-upper without pressuring us to buy a new one now. Will definitely be calling him next year when it's time to replace the old furnace.

We couldn't have been happier with All Star Mechanical! Kevin came out and was very professional and friendly... he was extremely respectful and when speaking to my husband called him sir. We were a little worried about disclosing that we had just purchased the house and didn't know much about the history of the furnace because we feared that would cause most service providers to take advantage of the situation but that didn't happen. Kevin discussed the type of furnace with my husband and explained the pros and cons of the furnace and completed the cleaning. It's nice to know there are still honest companies out there who hire only the best employees to represent them. Should we have any problems with our furnace, All Star Mechanical will be the only company we call for service!

Larry came both times in a matter of hours after we called, which we really appreciated as the weather was quite unbearable. He diagnosed both problems swiftly and accurately. Didn't try to sell us unnecessary services. Had the necessary parts in his truck. Larry is a very nice, cheerful person, and his work was highly professional. He installed the thermostat which made our air conditioner work much more efficiently - too bad we haven't done it years earlier. Programmed the thermostat and explained in details how we can do it ourselves whenever needed. Never had a problem with it since. Larry is highly knowledgeable in his field and a pleasure to deal with. We really appreciated the way he patiently answered all our questions. We are certainly going to hire Larry for any future heat/AC needs.

Larry was absolutely fantastic. He had our A/C up and running in about 10 minutes. He also noticed something he thought was a little off, so ran some tests to make sure everything was running okay (it was). He also cleaned the furnace and basically taught me how to do it, so I wouldn't necessarily need him in the future for it. He has a 50% off coupon on Angie's list for a service call, which made the total bill extremely reasonable (still would have been reasonable without the coupon). Will definitely use Larry again. He was booked up for several days when I first called, but he was definitely worth the wait. Can't recommend him enough.

Larry showed up when he said he would to provide the estimate. He gave us three options for a furnace and emailed the estimate the next day. We elected to hire him and have been extremely pleased. He came early on installation day and stayed late until it was completed. After the installation, he took the time to show us how everything worked and made sure we understood it. He also cleaned up everything and left no mess. If you decide to hire him, you won't regret it.

Our cooling system had a leak and was not cooling our home at all. It was the first stretch of really hot days of the summer and we were miserable. We called Larry after hours and he came right out that night so we did not have to suffer another evening of the heat. He gave us a great price and fixed our AC to have it working that same night. He gave us some tips on how to keep it working its best and was very polite and professional. Larry's awesome!!

Checked all my heating and cooling system. Found nothing major wrong but made some suggestions that we will follow up on later. A total professional!

Larry arrived on time this morning, and had our A/C working again in under an hour. He also took the time to explain what maintenance we should keep up on, and also gave suggestions on how our furnace and A/C could be made more efficient in the future. You can tell he cares about and takes pride in his trade. Couldn't be happier.

We've used them twice this year. In the past they came out to fix our humidifier and the ventilator. They are just honest and straightforward. I like that they are professional, punctual and courteous at all times. They do what they say they are going to do. They explain the problem as to what’s going on and they don't try to up sell you more than what you need.

Larry arrived on time, worked efficienty, made a needed repair, asked permission to replace needed parts, was very nice and trustworthy. He is a very nice person in general who knew what he was doing. Well prepared for the job, even had the replacement part in the truck. AC works MUCH better than it did before the service call.

It went very, very well. The problem with our A/C was corrected and Larry explained in understandable terms what was wrong. He did not try to sell anything new and gave us an estimate on the quality of our unit and its life span of use. I was so impressed by his work and his only billing me for one visit, when he actually came out twice, I did not use the Angie's List coupon I had printed out.
