A-1 Mechanical

A-1 Mechanical installed my gas fireplace during the construction of our home. We have not been able to use the fireplace since we moved in because it emits noxious fumes, sets off the fire alarms, and makes you sick. We have repeatedly reported the problem to A-1 Mechanical. Although the technicians have repeatedly observed the noxious fumes, their only advice was to continue running it until it burns the chemicals/paint off. Ten years later after numerous attempts to burn off the chemical/paint, and several inspections by A-1, they are telling us the same story and denying anything is wrong. Despite the technician's acknowledgment that the fireplace is emitting fumes, they are writing a false report to the manufacturer that there is nothing wrong with the unit. Apparently A-1 mechanical does not stand by their work or the equipment they install.

Technician suggested that I replace furnace. I suggested that he check the main relay, which he did reluctantly. That was the problem but I was charged off of a standard fee chart plus the cost of the trip, so I paid $460 for a relay. He did need to go pick up the relay and did a fine job, but the cost was extremely high for what I needed. Even if I did not pay for the relay, I would have had to pay the $89 trip fee.

Fast, got to the problem and fixed it within 4 hours of the call

Just purchased a new furnace from A1 Mechanical. Timely and courteous installation. My only complaint is that A1 installed the original duct work and I told sales rep that we would buy from them if they would help diagnose our cold air return. He overpromised, didn't follow through, Did not assert any effort, and did not even apologize. To be fair, past experience with service calls always went without a hitch, but new purchases... Make sure you get it in writing! I will not be using them again.

Don't hold your breath expecting service or professional results from A-1 Mechanical.

It worked out well. It was a minor repair. I would recommend them.

They are out yearly to check. I mean, they are out twice a year -- once to check the heating and once to check the air conditioning. The service is excellent, excellent. I can't grade them anything but A's. I have a yearly contract with them that covers both air conditioning and furnace. I do this yearly contact with them every year and by doing that I think it is a little bit less. It is $160 a year.

They performed the work for the agreed upon price on the agreed upon schedule. Did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. Friendly, easy to work with.

I thought they were good. They were pretty responsive. They were in and out in about 90 minutes. I believe there was just one worker. He left the area as they found it. They were prompt and did the work that was suppose to be done. I was very satisfied.

We've been happy with him all along. They're punctual and do their job. They're friendly service people.

The work was top notch. The service rep was very polite and took the time to explain things to us.

They just charge a bit more when they come in after hours. I think that's a little unreasonable. I think the pricing was a little off.

I'd give them a B overall because of the demeanor of the technician. He was just not friendly. Price was very good. They were on time.

Steven was outstanding. Did a a full furnace inspect and found nothing wrong inside so he went outside and quickly diagnosed the problem and immediately fixed.

They were always very competent. They came when they were supposed to. They did a good job. They were good. We didn't have any problems with them and they were reasonably priced.

Everything was great, I have no complaints. They left the area very neat and clean. The guy who came to my house was very professional and knowledgable. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone, and the was very competitive.

Salesman started it off with incredible care. Took my needs into account, explained differences in equipment, prices, energy consumption, etc. Evaluated my house accordingly. Made it clear I didn't have to purchase air conditioning unit at the same time, although I did want to have everything done at once. Installers arrived at 7:30 a.m.! I have NEVER had a contractor or service company that willing to start work. By 2 p.m., everything was completed. I couldn't believe it. They explained the maintenance on humidifier, furnace, dampers, air, summer, winter settings, and programmable thermostat. I couldn't be happier. And what a contrast to some other companies I've done business with recently in Lansing. When you have this kind of fantasatic service, it's really easy to see the gaps in other companies' practices. Thanks guys. It's been wonderful giving you my dollars.

I did not have services proformed but I did get a quote to add an AC unit to my home. Even though the cost was higher then expected the rep took the time to explain why and give me options. There is some wiring that would need to take place to get a breaker box out by the AC unit itself, i guess this is code for new installations. The rep mentioned i might save money by using an electricion if I knew of any to handle the wiring. I appreated his honestly. Overall once I'm ready to spend the money I would definitely call these guys.

The initial visit was punctual and professional. They emailed me and said they would not quote the same system as an other estimate because they did not agree with what was need for the building. I emailed them back and said okay, do the quote for what you think we need and they never responded.

A-1 technician erroneously reported high incoming gas pressure; gas company had to come out, but A-1 came back (after hours) and fixed problem without additional charge and even fixed small leak by water heater that gas company found.
