+ -1 moreThey replaced my roof after a tree hit it. They were paid by my insurance company. They hired a subcontractor to perform the work. They came out a couple of times to try to repair the leaking but never did fix the problem. They stopped taking my calls and I finally hired someone else to fix the problem. Our house has a flat roof that leaked FAR MORE after they replaced it then before. They represented themselves as flat roof experts but then I found out they did not even have their own crews at the time. Just sold the job and sub-contracted it out.

+ -1 moreI called Lake Orion Roofing on a Saturday night and they were there by noon on Sunday. They were professional and prompt and easy to deal with. 2 guys worked on my roof for 2 hours at the quoted rate of $395. I was able to call the office and pay by credit card the next day. The workers concentrated on the areas above the leaks in my home and even created a nice little channel for the water to run off into. I haven't had any leaks since. I gave them a B on price only because I am not sure how the price compares to other companies in the area, because it was an emergency and I hired the first company that answered their phone. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again though. I am very happy.
Description of Work: Needed ice dams and tons of ice and snow removed from my roof as soon as possible, since water was dripping into my house.

+ -1 moreThey were on time and work quality seems excellent. When I pointed out that they did not replace one missing shingle (because it was covered with snow) they went back to the other house and took care of immediately with no issues.
Description of Work: Repaired soft spot on roof by replacing wood and reinstalling shingles. Replaced several missing shingles. Cut, stained and replaced several missing pieces of cedar shake siding. This was done on two different houses on the same day.

+ -1 moreAn extremely expensive mistake. A $63,000.00 mistake. I lost my home due to Mark Southern (owner) at LAKE ORION ROOFING. A simple $13,000 roof replacement also cost AND an additional $50.000 in legal fees. Suit on record at Oakland County Courthouse. The BLACK MOLD that developed because of LAKE ORION ROOFINGS shoddy workmanship did itself well with my pre-existing lung disease, so I was forced to foreclose. This situation was reported on by the Oakland County Press in an article called and quot;Mold, Money, Misery.and quot;

+ -1 moreI liked the knowledge about roofing and the knowledge that they had for payment. Their rpice was higher than I comparatively thought. They did a good job with little things but there was an issue they had with the piping with the bathroom as they didn't do a good job on that. They didn't insulate the piping for the exhaust fan and it ended up a lot of conversation on the pricing that drained into the house. They had to come out every time and then they had to find a responsible technician who put in piping and solved the problems. The company put hold on me and I had to put pressure on him to get it done. They were punctual on the job but were not punctual on follow up and repair. When they did the roof, they were on time, were quick but the follow up issue on the bathroom exhaust fan was quite an effort to get them out.

+ 2 moreVery professional quote. They take pictures of the roof, show the damage, explain all the options, different materials, etc. Provide a detailed binder of the quote. Pay 1/2 upfront and remaining amount when finished. Credit card accepted. They did an great job. Excellent clean-up. Even postponed the installation due to rain.. No complaints. Lowest cost out of three quotes I received.
Description of Work: I had a new roof installed on a two story house in Lake Orion. 14 SQ Landmark AR CertainTeed 30 yr shingles, guaranteed. Included Ice shield, tar paper, ridge vents, drip edge, starter shingles, replacing 2 sections of plywood, cleaning gutters, new bathroom exhaust vents, new flashing and plumbing and furnace vents.. All laborClean up etc..

The price ended up being twice the amount of the other estimates. I got a lot of pressure to sign a contract... I could save 10% if I put a sign in my front yard. Most important was Lake Orion Roofing had done my neighbors house and did a horrible job. The shingles were curling up on the roof and causing all kinds of leaks. I commented to the salesperson about the bad shape the neighbor's roof was in and he told me that his company had done the job. Daahh... why would he admit to a bad looking job ? I like to support local companies, but I will never support Lake Orion Roofing.

+ 0 moreCame out first day I called to remove ice causing water to leak into the house. Took them less than 60 minutes to remove the snow and ice. The next day they installed a rubber under layment to seal both the roof and the exterior wall where water had a tendency to collect when snow and ice was present. They then reinstalled the side, wood trim and put new shingles in place. Were done in less than two hours on the repair. Did a great job cleaning up too.
Description of Work: Cleared ice off roof and repaired roof leak.

Description of Work: Received estimate but chose another roofer. The salesman, Don Bishop, was very responsive to my schedule limitations and professional in his presentation, providing 8 pages of color photos of the inside and outside of the roof plus a notebook filled with information. (required two visits) The company is certified by CertainTeed allowing them to offer a full roof guarantee using all CertainTeed products and methods. We have a big roof; the "good" price was $12,229, the "better" price $15,204 and the "best" price $16,636 with the differences being the class of shingle along with its guarantee. A different roofer offering a fully guaranteed GAF product had similar pricing to Lake Orion. Don recommended we go with at least the "better" level. Several elements of his presentation felt like he was "up-selling" us, which left us a little wary. They accept major credit cards, but require 33% upon acceptance, 33% upon 1/2 completion and the balance upon completion; None of the other roofers required ANY money until the job was completed satisfactorily. In evaluating our four roofing estimates, I researched online the pros and cons of roof guarantees. In general the shingle manufacturers have improved their products such that they are high quality enabling them to offer 10 year and longer product guarantees. On the other hand, the manufacturers, in case of a problem, limit their liabilities by various depreciation schedules and by claiming the shingles weren't properly installed. We decided the several thousand dollar premium for the guarantee compared to 2 other roofers whose price was $10,000 for the same shingles was not worth it to us.

+ -1 moreI did not use them and went with someone else. The quote was fine. They were quick to respond and they were professional about the quote. We got three or four quotes at the time, and I don’t remember anything standing out negatively about them. We ended up going with went with a company who had done our prior home because we had had firsthand experience with them so we went with them instead. There was nothing against Lake Orion Roofing, and I have heard good things about them in the area.

Their estimate was higher than other companies, but they emphasized their long-term presence in the area, their warranty, and the fact that they did so much inspection work up front that their estimate included work that the other roofers might discover needed to be done in the middle of the job - or worse, might never get to at all, leading to premature failure of the roof.
Description of Work: Compete tear-off and reshingle roof for 3500 square foot home. Included correction of ventilation problem: closing gable vents, installing additional soffit vents and ridge vent.

+ -1 moreBuyer beware! Very professional selling presentation, but all downhill from there. Lake Orion Roofing subcontracted the job to a "Mom and Pop" outfit from Bay City that they had never used before. A 3 day job took 2 weeks and the roof developed 10+ water leaks within 60 days. My roof had NEVER leaked in the 10+ years I've owned the home. After a year and a half of phone calls, certified letters, etc. MARK SOUTHERN (owner) has NEVER spoken to me, addressed the water leaks, drywall water stains, etc. I have been forced to file suit against Lake Orion Roofing in order to hold them financially accountable to correct this situation.
Description of Work: Complete shingle tear off and converted can to a ridge vent system. Since this job, I've hired Infrared, Mold, and Engineering Specialists (See Glenn Hegge website) to document all code violations had have filed suit against Lake Orion Roofing.

While their quote was approximately 20% higher than the three competitive bids we received, the amount of pre-work they performed before submitting an estimate convinced us that they were the detail-oriented company we were looking for. Their execution on the contract was perfect: on time, perfect work (inspected by home inspector afterwards), and cleanup exactly as promised. Additionally, the lifetime warranty means more coming from a company that has been around for 18 years. The are definitely the "high quality" roofing contractor in the area.
Description of Work: Tear-off and replace original roof. Correct roof ventilation problems by sealing gable bents, adding soffit vents and ridge vents, correcting soffit vent baffles, and correcting circulation within attic.
