Bought the $249 package of 5 yds of hardwood mulch & spreading. General Manager came out the same day to look at the job. I added 2 more yards of mulch and clean up of property including several large flower beds. The crew came out within a few days and did all the work quickly and efficiently.

Very professional. Mulch is good quality. Applied it effectively. No complaints.

Excellent quality, triple-shredded mulch, delivered on time. Five person crew was friendly, responsive and efficient. Cleaned up drive and walkways after spreading the mulch. Material and labor were an excellent value. Needed a bit more afterward. Friendly office staff arranged for a couple bags to be provided at their home office.

Excellent experience. I received a visit from the company the morning after I'd purchased the Deal so that we could talk about how much work I wanted done and how many yards of mulch it would take to complete the job. All of my many questions were answered confidently and politely. The mulch was delivered on the first day I preferenced with at least 6 men doing the work. They worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up the yard and sidewalk before they left. The work looks marvelous, and every time I drive up to the house, I am once again pleased with how nice it looks. I would use this company again.

They were quick to response once I bought this through Angie's list, and they gave me a notice in advance the approximate time they are coming. They performed the service as agreed and the results are satisfactory. Overall it was easy and very good. Would definitely consider them for future service and recommend them to others.

They did an excellent job and more than expected

They were extremely prompt in response to our request for a design and quote. The work was finished quickly and according to the plan. The landscapers left the yard extremely neat and clean when they were finished.

We couldn't be happier! The crew was neat, on time, friendly and true artisans. They cleaned everything up at the end of each day and completed the complex work with great attention to detail. They also took special care to minimize damage to existing lawn, shrubs, etc. They were the BEST, and this was a complex install. We will enjoy our outdoor living space with family and friends for many years to come.

Jason Holden was very knowledgeable and promptly responded to all our requests. He promptly sent proposals with detailed prices for all the work that we requested - including a spring plant discount and a repeat customer discount. Last year, we decided to have our old brick paver patio removed and redesigned. We contacted 4 different landscapers for quotes. Jason's redesign sketches were the best and his quote was the most reasonable. The workers came within a week or two to begin tearing out the old brick patio and began building our new brick patio. It just so happened to be the hottest week of the summer. In spite of the heat, the workers persevered and tore out and rebuilt the patio within a week. Jason came by almost every day to supervise the work. We love our new brick paver patio and have had many remarks from our neighbors as to how much they like it as well. Last winter was a harsh one, which resulted in a few areas of the paver patio sinking and there were 2 trees that had died. Jason came out and looked at everything and said they could fix those areas on the paver patio, no problem, no charge. He was also very knowledgeable about what trees to replace the dead ones with and how many we would need for the side of the house. The workers came out and had everything fixed and planted and laid the mulch in one day. We highly recommend this company and Jason Holden for all your landscaping needs!

After moving into a Lake Orion home we were looking to update the landscape and create some screening in our back yard. We also wanted quotes on expanding our brick paver patio and adding a walk way from the front of the house. After consulting with 3 landscape companies we decided to go with Design One. During our consultation it was a very relaxed and no pressure atmosphere. We walked the yard reviewed our vision for the project. Our Designer (Jason) took all the information we reviewed and made up great drawings, which we reviewed when he came back for a second consultation to review options that we discussed in the first meeting. Once we saw his work we were hooked. Jason then recommended which plants would look best in certain area's of the yard and also helped use design a beautiful garden on each side of our back yard to go along with 17 trees planted for screening. The quality of work was excellent. Jason's estimate of when the project would start was perfect and we were constantly kept in the loop if the projects start date would change or not. The products used have been great, we've had a few plants die, but they have been replaced timely with only 1 call or e-mail sent. We also used design one to purchase mulch from the year after the project was completed and it was delivered with ease. We will definitely use design one in the future.

They responded with a professional design and quote. The high quality work was completed on time and on budget. Looks beautiful and no surprises. I've used them before for other large and small jobs with same results.

Design One originally did work for me back in 1998. They built a new patio and walkway. Over the years the patio and edging had a couple minor issues. To my surprise when their designer came out to visit he said they would warranty their work. Wow! 15 plus years after they first worked for me not only where they still around....they honored their work. As I watch the crew install my new landscape today the designer has been around regularly to confirm the design intent and make sure there are no problems. Their communication, timeliness and professionalism would be a treat for anyone who chooses Design One.

I should have trusted my instincts and dropped this Company as soon as I spoke with them. I initially contacted them to provide an estimate for our landscape work. Over 3 months they ended up sending out 3 different estimators before the final estimate was completed (the first 2 either quit or were fired). That should have told me this wasn't a company I wanted to deal with. But I was busy and believed they could do a good job. When the bushes were finally planted many were much smaller than they'd been described, AND we needed to add several more because their design didn't fill in the areas they should have. A handful of the plants died shortly after planting (which sometimes happens) - but it took numerous calls to get them to come out and replace them. Finally this Spring rolls around and a few more plants have died. Since they have a 1 year warranty all should have been replaced. After several more calls a manager came out and replaced some, but not all of the dead plants. I again contacted the installer (Jay) and the Owner (Frank) several times. I was promised by both men that the remaining replacements were coming. They never showed up. Now I'm out the cost of the replacements. There are too many good landscapers out there to work with this Company. The customer means nothing to them.

It took a while for the designer to bring back a design. I had used this company before but they go thru quite of bit of designers. They are expensive when it comes to price. I like the work they did on my original work but this was with a new designer. It took about less than 2 hours to complete the job they also gave me a 1 year warranty on any plant that dies. This is where I ran into a problem I had to keep calling and calling them to come back and replace 2 plants that had died. The owner wasn't very professional when I talk to him about this. It took about 4 calls and 2 weeks before they finally came back and replaced the plants. Overall I like the work they are pricey but good luck getting them to honor their warranty on there plants.

During the process of adding some much needed landscaping to the back yard, we had Design One come out to provide initial quotes. During the initial design meeting, the Designer did not have a portfolio of landscaping examples or of various trees. We discussed some rought concepts, and was told he would have a preliminary design on the following Monday. Monday came and went, and they did not call us to push back the date. Wednesday of the following week they came by to show a second designer the property, as the first desinger was too busy. The initial quote came another week later, and was higher than other quotes. While price wasn't the deciding factor, speed and communication played a huge factor in our decision because all designs require multiple revisions to come on the final solution. Don't be in a rush if you decided to give them a shot.

I like the design they made. They came out and did the design and followed up on the workers and made some changes because I just didn't like the ways it's positioned. Did a professional job though they are a little bit expensive but I like the design better.

We had obtained a landscape plan with a cost estimate from this company a year ago, but decided to put the project on hold. When we were ready to move forward this fall, we contacted them and they came out promptly, reviewed and updated the plan and estimate. The work was scheduled promptly, workers arrived in a timely fashion, worked hard, were very conscientious, they did the job 'right'. Joan, our designer, was very accommodating and provided us with answers to all of our questions. She came back upon completion of the work to walk around and inspect, answer questions, etc. Would highly recommend the company!
