I had a new deck and sliding door installed by Green Shield Home last year, and it was not a positive experience. Among the issues: 1. Green Shield Home did not pull a permit for the deck. 2. When I called the township and arranged for an inspection, the inspector found multiple issues with the deck. 3. I had concerns about the helical piers being so far out of the ground and one being crooked. I asked multiple times if a supervisor could come look at them, but no one ever did. 4. The deck crew literally never spoke to me except to ask to use the bathroom. Even when I went out to introduce myself on the first day and ask if they needed anything, I got a shake of the head and nothing more. 5. Communication was an issue throughout. For instance, I was told a crew would be there on a Monday and then no one showed and no one called to let me know there was a change of plans. 6. My old deck was removed and the base of a new deck installed in one day. Then no one showed up or called the next day. And no one showed up or called the day after that. I called Green Shield Home and was told that a different crew did the railings. In the end, I went four days with a deck base and no railing/barrier of any kind over a walkout basement. 7. The deck crew left behind piles of lumber when they were done. 8. A gutter downspout was never reattached to the deck after the work was done. 9. This year, a piece of trim over the sliding door that was installed by Green Shield Home began to fall away from the house. Green Shield Home promptly sent a worker to fix it. He also pulled off all the silicone caulk from around the door, noting that he didnâ t know why the previous worker has put that on. He also noticed the door was not installed correctly on the track and fixed that. I asked him if the helical piers supporting the deck should be so far out of the ground. Without any mention from me, the worker noted one of the piers was crooked. He took a photo and said he was sure someone would be in touch. No one was ever in touch. I signed the contract and paid half the cost for the deck and door in February 2021, and the work was done in April. In October 2021, I noticed a window in the basement under the deck was leaking. I had a contractor out to replace it, and he discovered the wall was completely rotten. The previous deck had not been flashed correctly, and water had probably been leaking down the wall for years. Since it was late in the year, that contractor framed in some temporary supports and boarded up the wall. He said he could fix it permanently in the summer of 2022. This summer, in preparation for the project, the contractor advised me to get in touch with the deck builders because the deck would need to be removed as part of fixing the wall. Since the window was still leaking in the fall, the new deck had obviously not been flashed correctly when it was built in the spring. Green Shield Home sent out someone who said he could see where the deck was not flashed properly and gave me every indication that the company would make the situation right. However, because of the scope of the problem and fix, he would need to talk to the owners. A few days later, I received a text message saying that Green Shield Home had installed the new ledger board over the old ledger board, and this was not a code violation. (My contract with the company states that will install a ledger â I assumed that would mean removing the old one.) They say that since they did not remove the old ledger board, they had no way of knowing that the flashing was bad or that the wall was rotten. They offered to send someone out to give me a quote to pay to have the problem fixed. However, based on all the issues outline above, I am not inclined to give any more of my money to Green Shield Home. I would not recommend Green Shield Home to anyone.

I am re-doing my review. I had a run in with one of the sales individuals and was very upset afterwards. After writing it out in email to this individual (instead of it being dumped on him on a Friday afternoon) we were able to have a constructive conversation where my concerns and issues were addressed. I have to give props for his ability to sit down, review, and re-evaluate. Most individuals would have just doubled down and dug in their heels. At this time I am waiting for the project to start - at my house - and am very excited to get a new porch!

Had a great experience. They discovered some structural issues but did not charge anything extra to fix them, we are very pleased.

Composite deck replacement is an expensive project... but we are very happy with the final product! The process was pain free and fast, and the workers were courteous and professional from start to finish. We are looking forward to enjoying our new deck and happy to recommend Green Shield!

Thereâ s such small details that they pay attention to that really puts them over the top. I will be using them in the future for other projects if needed!

UPDATED REVIEW: Thanks to the new man on the seen, Dan W. we are now happy with our sliding glass door / doorwall. The stars that still slightly reflect the beginning errors and would probably be all FIVES if we had started this way. Shortly after starting in his roll, Dan contacted me and was very attentive, honest and transparent. He was at the house in no time to asses and get the gears in motion. Shortly after his initial visit we had the final piece resolved and installed. Dan W. and Green Shield pulled though in the end to make us happy. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Absolutely AWFUL Customer Service, with the exception of the receptionist, who was great. I had to hound them with about 20 phone calls and had very little follow-up. A year later, still waiting on a replacement door wall door that was defective when it was installed. Had to have the vinyl wrap redone after many phone calls. The customer specialist and customer service follow-through was terrible.

I am in the process of getting my project started. So far Green Shield has been great to work with!

Green Shield Home installed our beautiful new deck in November. They were very professional from their salesperson to the project manager to the carpenters to the receptionist. They were more responsive to our Home Advisor Inquiry than any other company, gave us an informed presentation, kept in touch with us periodically until the project started, always checked with us if there were any questions during construction, and did a beautiful job. We will certainly hire them again as they also handle siding, windows and roofs. I'll post some great photos of the deck with the snow melts in the spring. It is beautiful.

So happy with our new deck! It is amazing they built this beautiful deck in the middle of winter. They showed up on time, did an amazing job, and kept me updated as the project went along. We can't wait until spring to get out there and start grilling!

We had an excellent experience and are very happy with our deck project! From the estimator to the finishing details and everything in between, they are top notch! We will be using them again for another remodel project in 2022!

Although it took a while for the materials, they did everything they could to make sure we got what we wanted. When the siding supplier was taking too long, they told us they were switching to someone who could provide materials quicker and re-met with us to make sure we had the color we were satisfied with for the other supplier. When they initially did white trim and I wasn't home, then noticed and told them, they immediately switched it and were kind on the phone, not upset. The guys working were always courteous and respectful to us if we got home and they were still working. They even worked extra hours to get it done timely since we waited so long for windows. I highly recommend them.

We had an excellent experience with Green Shield. They installed a back deck for us. Their crew was top notch. Very hard workers who completed the project on time. Very easy company to work with. Would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

I am so pleased. Our previous sliding door leaked and we had several contractors say that they would not be able to fix the issue. Green Shield replaced the door and it does not leak. We are very happy.

Very friendly and polite project crew who answered any questions I had. The construction was very solid - they shored up my existing deck due to poor construction originally but no added costs. They returned to correct a minor issue in a timely manner. The start time of the project was lengthy but I believe it was a materials supply issue.

My new deck and pergola are beautiful. The work performed was excellent. I got everything done the way I wanted . I was impressed with the attention to detail throughout the entire project.

Many delays, boards came in damaged. Waiting. Work crew was great. Always kept me I formed. Jacob was not so consider it.

We have an older home. During the takedown of the older deck, we discovered a solid mass of concrete underneath it. Attempts to break it up with a sledgehammer werenâ t working, nor was drilling successful in breaking it apart. (I believe the concrete is the top to a bomb shelter built in the 1950s as there are some in our neighborhood.) The crew brought in an engineer to re-examine the plan and proceeded with a new plan that required more work. Yet, the cost didnâ t increase. We are very happy with our new composite deck â ¦ and are very happy that Green Shield built it. The crew that built it was outstanding, considerate and very professional. I wouldnâ t hesitate to call Green Shield for any future projects.

We had Green Shield install our new composite deck this summer. The crew was absolutely outstanding! I had a lot of questions and concerns and they were always happy to answer or talk things over with me. Our deck is exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be happier with the results!

Very professional all the way through this siding job. I was very impressed with the use of 1/2" foam insulation under the siding. It really cut down on the outside noises. A good company to deal with.

These folks go the extra mile. They are very quality oriented and they know how to make a customer happy. Everyone we worked with was professional, knew what they were doing, and wanted to do it right the first time. They were very good at communicating with us every step of the way. And they are nice people.
