James and his crew are professional, punctual, hard working, personable people, even cleaned up after, raking the debris from the lawn and sweeping the driveway & sidewalks.

I have used James and Kalamazoo Tree Service multiple times. James is quick to answer, provide a quote, and complete work. He is respectful and punctual. He has done top notch work on some pretty tall trees. I have had several neighbors state they could not stop watching this last time as he took down a very large, old oak tree. James takes pride in his work, cleans up your yard, and is also affordable. I do not plan on using any other tree service. We have many large, old Oak trees close to our house and need his services regularly.

This job was done on two sites. The first site involved the removal of a large, 2-trunk oak tree that grew through a hole cut in our deck, and was done in Fall, 2018. This was a tight job, and was turned down by other tree services who couldn't get their equipment to the site. James with Kalamazoo Tree Service did the job by climbing the tree and removing branches and sections individually. All debris was removed, and the stump was cut down sufficiently far to allow for supports to replace decking over the stump. The crew showed up on time and did a great job cutting the sections to the size that could be hauled away and leaving the job site neat and clean. There was an incident where my neighbor's deck was damaged during the removal, and James was there the next day to completely repair the damage to my neighbor's satisfaction. This was excellent customer service and shows that this company takes responsibility for its work and actions. The bill for this major tree removal job (which took 2 days) was $3400. The second job was done in a half-day, and involved removing two cherry trees and pruning several oak trees. It was done in February, 2019. The crew was on time again, and got the job done quickly. There were several times when James would stop to ask me about the degree of pruning to be done on a particular tree, to make sure that the job was acceptable to me. Clean-up was thorough (even on the snow), and all debris was hauled away. The bill for this job was $900. It was a pleasure to hire Kalamazoo Tree Service for these jobs. Their price was competitive; even less than other quotes I had received. James did not commit to a service date until he was sure he could do the job on that date; this meant that weather could have made a difference up to the proposed date of service. I appreciate his forthrightness in setting expectations for the service date. He also would not prune our oak trees until winter had really set in, to ensure that no insect-borne diseases could infect the trees following pruning. The attention to detail and the quality of work are the main reasons that I would hire Kalamazoo Tree Service again.

We contacted Kalamazoo Tree Service via email and called and left messages twice and they never responded.

The process went very well. The owner and crew were very professional. The clean-up of tree trunk and branches was done as agreed. We did not include cleaning of stump grinding material as part of the agreement.

They removed the trees and ground up the stumps and cleaned up! Would definitely recommend this company! And would use again! Worked in a timely manner!

They were here when they said they would be. There were lots of people and they made quick work of it. Neat, clean and pleasant! Also, they honored the Angie's List coupon!

It went very well. We received the quote and the work was performed the same day. They were very efficient and cleaned up the area when they were completed.

I scheduled a date with James, the owner, for 5/15/17 in early April of 2017. I called him the Friday before to verify he was coming and to make sure I had payment in the correct format (check vs cash vs card). He tells me he won't be there Monday and that it will be at least a week. He calls me 5/22/17 and says he will be there on 5/26/17 to do the work. I get a call the morning of 5/26 and he says it is now 5/31. I let him know we can't push any further because I have limbs falling and a kid. He then calls the afternoon of 5/26 and cancels the whole job on me. If I knew he didn't want to do the job I would have just gone with someone else from the beginning. Don't do business with this guy. He is a joke and doesn't think customer service is part of the job.

He was excellent. He arrived when he said he would. He cut up the tree and put it back in the neighbors yard and made sure my yard was clear. He also propped up and cobbled together the pieces of the fence so my dogs wouldn't get out. He was very personable, caring and helped me understand what the insurance company would be telling me and also told me what I should report to the insurance company.

We had a very large, very difficult tree that needed to be taken down in the front yard. We were going to have someone else come take it down, but after some issues with the other tree service, we finally got a call back from James. They were able to come out within two weeks and get our tree down. The only downside was they didn't haul our wood away themselves. They had someone who was coming to get it (who finally showed up a week and a half after it had been sitting on our/our neighbors lawn). I am assuming it was because they were so busy last spring. We are having another tree cut down in the back and they will be hauling all the wood away. We called them on a Friday and James came over the next day for a quote, well below anyone else.

James was pleasure to deal with. The job was performed as advertised, on schedule and on budget.

Great service, professional and hard working crew took care of the mess in short order. Highly recommended.

Kalamazoo Tree Service definitely earns my review. James & his crew did an outstanding job trimming our trees, removing a very large tree including stump removal & cleaning up all the debris. Price was very fair & the work was done exactly as agreed with a sizable savings compared to my previous bid from another top rated tree service. They completed the job in a timely manner (in February) the coldest month of the year! James was friendly and accommodating. We will absolutely use them again in the future. Five stars all the way!!! Consumers Energy contracted with a tree service to trim a tree in my back yard that was over a power line. They did not do a good job and left a large part of the tree still hanging over the line. I then contacted Kalamazoo Tree Service. James and his crew came quickly and trimmed the tree the way it was supposed to be done. They cleaned up all the debris and when they left my yard was so clean that you couldn't even tell they had been there. My tree looks great and is no longer a threat to the power line or my garage. Kalamazoo Tree Service is the best of the best. I will never call anyone else but them to have my trees trimmed or cut.

It went very, very, well. James and his crew removed the limb and cleaned up all the debris in good order. This is my "Go To" company for all my tree work. I bought a house where the trees had been ignored and were severely overgrown. Kalamazoo Tree service has helped me carve my home out of the wilderness that WAS my yard.

In the initial conversations with James we felt very comfortable using his services. He was planning on coming with in the next week to get all the work taken care of and cleaned up. A few winter storms rolled through putting everything on hold (which we understood). But from first point of contact to the work actually being complete was a little over 6 weeks. Once the trees where taken down my husband and I noticed that they had damaged part of our house, but didn't care to tell us about it! When we called James with our issues he took an addition 2 weeks to come repair the damage that his employees did. We were also reassured that our yard would be completely cleaned up, we wouldn't have to do any work...well we spend the first week of spring raking up all the saw dust and picking up extra branches. The work was getting complete in the winter (which needed to get done as we had branches covering our house and our neighbors) so we didn't expect it to look wonderful once the snow melted, however James continued to tell us how they would come back as soon as the snow melted....we haven't seen him and he hasn't responded to on of our many phone calls. Will never use his service or recommended him to anyone!

They were awesome. They did great work for me. They do everything in a timely and workman like manner, they don't' waste time, they get to the job and they get it done. I certainly will work them in the future.

James was quick to return my call and come out to give me a quote. He was able to return with his crew the following week and remove the tree. I came home just as James and his crew were finishing. They were polite and the yard looked great not even a twig left. James even gave me tips for trimming my back yard while maintaining the privacy. I will be calling Kalamazoo tree service in the spring!

We had some weather delays but as soon as the weather improved the crew was out to perform the job. The workers and the foreman (the one who also discussed the job and estimate with me) had some communication issues and it was a good thing that my husband was there to help supply the tasks that had been discussed (which trees, what brush piles, yes the stumps were to be removed too, etc). They were a little slowed in their tasks by the limitation of only one trailer to remove tree pieces and brush (in their defense, my husband added a lot to the debris pile while waiting to be scheduled with the tree service). Overall, we were happy, 5-6 trees were cut down, hauled away, and the large bush piles were removed, stumps were also removed. The things that could be improved on include better communication between the workers and the person who gave the estimate. Also the estimate with the job details was a little abstract--"we'll clean up all this brush" ended up being a little vague when actually applied by the workers. We have a very wooded lot that has been pretty much left to its own by previous owners. We would use this service again, just be more specific in the details of the job.

The tree looked great upon completion. All limbs were off the electrical wires and the house, the tree looks great now!! It took a few days for them to call me back for an estimate but once I met with James to access what needed to be done they were prompt with an estimate and returned promptly to complete the job. The trimmed limbs were completely cleaned up, if the tree hadn't looked so different I would not have known they had been there. I would definitely hire them again.

The job was postponed by several days due to the rainy week prior to my appointment, backing the company up. James kept me informed throughout the entire process. The stump and roots were ground a couple of days after the tree was cut and the day following that, the depressions were filled and leveled. I had been quoted a price after what I wanted done was discussed. When I went into Angie's List, I saw he gave a 10% discount to seniors. I asked if it would be given and he said "yes". I am satisfied with the results.
